Your Role

We are seeking a Resource Specialist to join our team at the new Radio-Canada newsroom in Alberta.

In this role, you will plan and organize the technical resources required for content production, ensuring full alignment with programming schedules and operational requirements. Your primary goal will be to ensure that all resources are used efficiently and cost-effectively.

You will forecast, select, organize and assign the personnel, facilities and equipment needed to produce programs or program segments. This includes managing logistical planning across pre-production, production and post-production phases while meeting cross-platform formatting and delivery requirements. Although general direction will be provided, this role requires strong independent judgment and initiative. You will juggle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced production environment, delivering under tight deadlines across digital, radio and television. As a key player in all live and taped broadcasts, you will rely on tact and diplomacy to reconcile stakeholder demands.

Key Tasks:

• Collaborate with senior managers, producers, department heads and technical producers on short- and long-term production planning, actively participating in planning meetings and addressing special requests.
• Leverage specialized knowledge and experience to recommend cost-saving measures and operational efficiencies.
• Address resource conflicts to ensure all productions have the required facilities, equipment and support services.
• Maintain oversight of all production activities and recommend corrective action to accommodate timeline changes or new production needs.
• Ensure broadcasts meet technical quality standards — including audio and video levels — and rectify quality issues promptly.
• Co-ordinate with other departments (such as Productions and Engineering) to maintain seamless operations and quickly resolve technical issues.
• Respond to operational emergencies, including equipment failures or signal disruptions, taking appropriate action to minimize downtime and restore normal operations.
• Train team members on operating procedures and best practices for broadcast systems and equipment.
• Verify that the gathering and ingestion of audio and video assets strictly adhere to Radio-Canada standards and workflows.
• Co-ordinate and facilitate the sharing of audio and video assets across internal teams and platforms, including CBC.

This role requires full-time on-site presence.

What You Bring:

• College diploma in radio and television production, or equivalent practical industry experience.
• Relevant experience demonstrating a thorough understanding of TV, radio and digital production workflows.
• Familiarity with ScheduLINK and iNews software is an asset.
• Proficiency with Google Workspace tools.
• Working knowledge of radio studios and booths, as well as TV studios and control rooms.
• Knowledge of audio and video feed systems (NGCN, satellite, Dejero) is an asset.
• Strong leadership abilities, the capacity to work independently, excellent organizational and operational planning skills, and a high degree of self-motivation and initiative.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Creative problem-solving skills with a track record of helping develop innovative procedures to deliver responsive, collaborative support.
• Ability to perform effectively under pressure and tight deadlines, both independently and within a team.
• Demonstrated ability to build strong partnerships with diverse internal teams and clients, tailoring service to production needs and expectations while seeking cost savings and optimizing staff and equipment usage.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously, responding to the needs of clients and colleagues in a timely and efficient manner.
• Experience creating and updating records within operational databases.
• Strong service orientation.
• Fluency in French required.
• Fluency in English is an asset.
• Deep knowledge of Radio-Canada programming across all platforms (TV, radio, digital).
