Sobre este puesto de People Ops Specialist en DATAPAO

DATAPAO · Presencial · Budapest
At DATAPAO, data ignites passion, community fuels collaboration, and growth knows no bounds. We are a leading Data Engineering and AI consulting company backed by Databricks and recognized for our unmatched delivery standards and rapid growth. We have been named Databricks EMEA Emerging Business Partner of the Year (2024), achieved the Golden Tier status in the Databricks Partner Program, and made three consecutive appearances on the Financial Times FT1000 list.

TL;DR

The role will be a great fit if:

  • You have an eye for details, are at ease with administrative work, and like to think about and set up scalable processes.

  • You can balance accuracy and compliance with a thoughtful employee experience.

  • You like taking ownership of end-to-end processes, have a strong drive to automate workflows and systems, and understand how to leverage tools or existing employee data to support decision-making.

  • Think ahead, spot risks early, and solve problems before they escalate.

  • You are comfortable handling sensitive information and working independently.

  • Want to grow while owning the operational core of People Ops for at least the next 18–24 months.

What will you do?

  • Own our HRIS. Meaning that you will manage workflows, employee data, permissions, integrations, onboarding and offboarding flows, and overall data integrity. We currently use Personio, but going to move to Shapes by the time you join us.
  • Manage people operations in Hungary, the UK, and Spain. Meaning that you'll own the employee life cycle from the time Recruitment hands over to you a new hire until the employee moves beyond DATAPAO. Among others, this means:

    • In Hungary: collect new-hire information, create a new HRIS profile, manage employment contracts and amendments, coordinate onboarding and offboarding, co-own payroll, tax allowances, and social security requirements with Finance and our external payroll provider, and give support with employment-related documentation.

    • In the UK: collect new-hire information, create a new HRIS profile, manage Right to Work checks, employment contracts and amendments, coordinate onboarding and offboarding, co-own payroll, tax allowances, and social security requirements with Finance and our external payroll provider, administer time-off, and give support with employment-related documentation.

    • In Spain: coordinate EOR employment and act as the SPOC for our EOR provider (Deel) and local employees.

  • Employee SPOC. Meaning that you are the first point of contact for questions about contracts, payroll, benefits, time-off policies, and other employment matters.

  • Manage employee benefits. Manage our benefits, healthcare (e.g., Generali, AXA), and pension providers (e.g., Smart Pensions), across geographies.

  • Automate people operations. Proactively identify bottlenecks, manual work, and opportunities to create more robust processes. Use automation, AI, integrations, and better workflows to improve accuracy, efficiency, and the employee experience.

  • Legal and policies due diligence. Work with external counsel and internal stakeholders on employment-related legal matters, including due diligence when expanding into new jurisdictions, terminations, and MSAs. Keep our HR policies and employee handbook up to date and legally compliant.

  • Employee equipment & access provisioning. Coordinate the ordering, allocation, tracking, and return of IT equipment. Grant and revoke employee access to tools such as Google Workspace, Slack, Notion, AWS, Azure, and 1Password during onboarding and offboarding. Over time, these tasks might move to an IT-dedicated person, but for now, they fall under this role.

  • Contribute to broader People Team initiatives. Depending on your experience and interests, take part in HR analytics, automation, global payroll & benefits, or people development initiatives.

What does it take to fit the bill?

  • Proven track record in People Operations, preferably across geographies and in a fast-growing tech company.

  • Strong working knowledge of Hungarian labor law and employment specifics. Experience with UK employment and/or EOR arrangements across geographies is a big advantage.

  • Hands-on experience with managing HRIS tools, including workflows, permissions, employee data, configuration, and integrations.

  • Pragmatism and employee-experience-first mindset. You understand that a process can be compliant and efficient, and provide an enviable employee experience at the same time.

  • Proactive, solution-driven approach. You show an unabated can-do attitude and are able to understand and factor the downstream consequences of your work and proposals in your decision-making process. You anticipate potential issues and involve the right people before the problem even emerges.

  • Proven track record in handling confidential and sensitive information and matters with sound judgment and discretion.

  • Exceptional attention to detail, a systematic approach to your work, and high autonomy are your second nature.

  • You’re fluent and a versatile communicator in both English and Hungarian.

Bonus points - any of the following:

  • Proven track record with automated and/or AI-enabled workflows.

  • Experience with HR analytics and reporting, or with IT-related topics (e.g., equipment and access management).

  • Contributed to or led people development or employee engagement projects.

Most importantly, this role should match the type of work you genuinely enjoy, and it should be, in some way or form, a stretch vs. your current role.

We pledge to give you plenty of opportunities to make a visible impact here beyond operations, but we can't reshape the role at its core, as this is our team's sole People Ops role.

So, if you get your drive from providing employees with an enviable experience through robust, efficient operations and are comfortable spending most of your time working with systems, documentation, employment processes, vendors, and legal or payroll workflows, then this is for you. If not, then it might not be your cup of tea.

What will the selection process look like?

  • Screening interview (~45 minutes): A conversation with one of our recruiters about your experience, motivation, and expectations.

  • Skills interview (~120 minutes): A practical discussion with our Head of People focused on critical skills for thriving in this role and on People Operations scenarios. This may include a short practical exercise or case discussion.

  • Meet the team (~60 minutes): An informal but structured conversation with members of the People Team. We will discuss collaboration, ways of working, feedback, motivation, and what working together could look like.

We aim to keep the process focused, practical, and transparent.

What do we offer?

At DATAPAO, we're on a mission to build one of the world's best consulting companies in the field of Data Engineering and AI. And there is hardly any more impactful role in shaping our journey and success than the CFO.

Here is a list of some other extras we offer:

  • A yearly performance bonus which, based on your individual performance, can vary between ~6.5% to ~20%, given that the company meets its performance targets.

  • Flexible working hours and PTO days. We’re flexible about how many days you take off, as long as it doesn't conflict with the work getting done. Additionally, it is up to you how many days you spend in the office. However, as a senior leader, we'd expect to spend face-to-face time with your team and mentor others. And we believe this can be achieved only through a balanced mix of in-person and remote work.

  • 4 Weeks of Paternity Leave (if applicable). Because we think it’s important for both parents to be there when it matters the most.

  • Healthcare benefits. We provide a generous private medical package via Generali and 15 days of fully paid sick leave per year.

  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP). Through EAP, we offer our employees access to psychology, financial, and legal consulting services via phone or in person.

  • Top-notch working equipment. You will get a MacBook, a Herman Miller chair, standing desks in the office, and whatever else is needed to give your best.
  • The chance to shape our culture. As a People team member, you get the rare opportunity to influence how our organizational culture evolves over time.

  • A cozy office in the heart of Budapest (close to Oktogon), well-stocked with snacks, drinks, coffee, and beverages. An annual team building and a wide range of other community events.

The gross salary for this position ranges from gr. 900.000 - 1.200.000 HUF/month, depending on your assessed seniority level during the selection process.
