Location/Division Specific Information

This role is a permanent, full-time role and is based at our site in Woolloongabba, Brisbane.

About the Role:

The Maintenance Engineer is a hands-on role responsible for conducting first-line investigations and repairs in response to equipment and service failures across plant utilities, manufacturing equipment, support facilities as part of the on-site maintenance execution team.

The role also involves performing preventive maintenance activities in accordance with the established maintenance schedule to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of site assets while minimizing equipment downtime.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain highly technical manufacturing equipment, plant utilities, and facility systems within a GMP cleanroom environment.

  • Perform planned preventive maintenance, routine plant monitoring, and corrective maintenance to maximize equipment reliability and uptime.

  • Respond to Building Management System (BMS) alarms, equipment breakdowns, and facility issues, undertaking fault finding and repairs across mechanical, electrical, and automation systems.

  • Participate in engineering investigations, root cause analysis, reliability assessments, and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) activities to support continuous improvement.

  • Assist with quality deviation investigations and ensure maintenance activities are completed in compliance with GMP and QA requirements.

  • Coordinate maintenance activities with production, laboratory personnel, contractors, and service providers to ensure work is completed safely and efficiently.

  • Troubleshoot electrical systems within the scope of licensing and competency.

  • Perform other maintenance and engineering duties as directed by the Supervisor.

Requirements:

Education

  • Diploma/Degree or Trade qualification in mechanical, electrical or automation.

  •  Restricted electrical license very strongly preferred.

Experience

  • 3+ years working experience in pharmaceutical, hospital, food processing, or other related industry.

  • Hands-on repairs and maintenance of equipment/utilities/facility.

  • Exposure to PLCs, BMS, SCADA, or other industrial automation systems is highly desirable.

  • Experience working with HVAC and plant utilities including Steam and Compressed air.

  • Experience working within GMP cleanroom environments is advantageous.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.

  • Working knowledge of GMP requirements desirable

  • Strong understanding of Health, Safety and Environment (EHS) practices in relation to maintenance activities.

  • Experience in using Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Proven record of ability to work as a team member.
