Job Description:

Essentia Health is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse or Medical Assistant to serve as a float to our dermatology practice and other specialty clinics, including nephrology and sleep medicine. This LPN or CMA will work at St. Mary's Clinic in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota for 32 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 7:45 am to 4:15 pm, with one weekday off. No weekend, holiday, or on-call rotations are required. This employee will float to our Park Rapids Clinic as well. We are willing to offer a medical assistant apprenticeship to the right candidate, providing a paid training and certification experience in exchange for a one-year employment commitment upon completion of the program.

Education Qualifications:

• Apprentice: High School Diploma or equivalent.

• LPN/CMA: Education as required for licensure.

LPN or Medical Assistant ($21.72-$32.58 based on experience):

Assists RN, Physician and other providers and provides direct patient care in the ambulatory care setting to contribute to meeting the mission and goals of Essentia Health.  Will  perform identified procedures for which competencies have been demonstrated.  Cares for patients ranging in age from newborn to elderly as noted on age-related category.

Medical Assistant Apprentice ($19.00 Flat Rate):

Under the guidance of a Certified Medial Assistant or Licensed Practical Nurse preceptor works at an entry-level, assisting RN, Physician and other providers with direct patient care in the ambulatory setting to contribute to meeting the mission and goals of Essentia Health.  As an apprentice, the Clinical Assistant in Training will perform identified procedures individually once competencies have been demonstrated. Cares for patients ranging in age from newborn to elderly as noted on age-related category. Upon graduation of the apprentice program, wage will increase to $21.72 hourly.

Licensure/Certification Qualifications:

• LPN: Current LPN licensure with the Minnesota State Board of Nursing.

• CMA: current registration or certification as a medical assistant OR verifiable completion of a medical assistant program and must become certified within one year of date of hire. Must pass certification within two attempts.

• Apprentice: Completion of the 14-week paid training program through Medcerts, with onsite clinicals. Upon completion, responsible for a 1-year commitment to work as a medical assistant.

• ALL: AHA Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification within 3 months of hire.
