Financial Analyst
The Financial Analyst is a key contributor on the Financial Planning & Analysis team, responsible for providing granular data and analysis on business issues, planning, budgeting, and forecasting across Billtrust. You will partner with various levels of management within business units and with corporate stakeholders to develop, interpret, and implement financial and accounting concepts related to strategic planning, forecasting, and capital allocation—using AI tools to accelerate analysis and deliver sharper, faster insights to the business.
You may serve as the financial liaison for a designated business unit or department, representing the finance point-of-view in helping the business make sound capital allocation decisions. The ideal candidate is analytically rigorous, a strong communicator, and eager to grow their FP&A career at a fast-moving fintech company.
What You'll Do
Planning, Budgeting & Forecasting
- Assist in the preparation and analysis of annual budgets and long-range plans, using AI tools to accelerate data compilation, scenario modeling, and variance analysis.
- Assist in revenue, expense, and cash flow projections for assigned business units and departments.
- Analyze actual results to understand variances and revise projections as appropriate, supporting ongoing budgeting, revenue and expense analysis, and business trends analysis.
- Other duties as assigned.
Analysis, Reporting & Business Partnership
- Compile and analyze financial information for assigned business units and departments, carrying out performance analysis and reporting to support data-driven decision-making.
- Assist in preparing and presenting monthly financial review packages to management, communicating complex financial issues and their underlying logic clearly to stakeholders at all levels.
- Assist in business analysis including ROI, NPV, and IRR to support capital allocation and investment decisions.
- Work with business users to refine and improve current reporting and analysis, performing ad hoc reporting to satisfy end-user needs and drive continuous improvement in finance deliverables.
- Provide training to finance and operational teams as assigned.
What You'll Bring
Required Skills:
- 3+ years of experience in financial analysis or a related role, preferably within a software company; Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- Comfort using AI tools to accelerate financial analysis, reporting, and planning—with a curiosity and willingness to keep building these skills on the job.
- Working knowledge of standard financial statements and GAAP, with strong Excel skills and comfort working in financial systems and data-heavy environments.
- Understanding of ERP software (e.g., Intacct) and enterprise performance management tools (e.g., Host Analytics), with knowledge of data visualization techniques and tools (e.g., Power BI).
- Knowledge of effective communication and presentation techniques for explaining complex financial issues and their underlying logic to diverse stakeholders.
- Well-honed written and verbal communication skills with an approachable, collaborative attitude and the ability to thrive in a fast-changing environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Prior experience in a software or SaaS company with exposure to ARR, churn, or SaaS-specific financial metrics.
- Experience with SQL or other data querying tools for financial analysis.
- CFA candidacy or interest in pursuing a professional finance designation.
