About the Role: 

This role is remote in the United States, with a preference for the East Coast. The Associate Counsel, Employment, will be a trusted legal advisor on employment and labor-related matters, including but not limited to employee relations, recruiting, benefits, people operations, disputes, policies, and other responsibilities. The Associate Counsel, Employment will report to the Senior Counsel, Employment and will partner with all levels and functions of the business, including People, Information Security, Sales, Marketing, Finance, Product, and Content, among others, to help AlphaSense achieve its high-growth goals. This role is essential to our growth and will have an immediate impact in our dynamic, fast-paced culture.

Who You Are:

• J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and admission to, and good standing with a state bar;
• Minimum of 3+ years’ experience advising clients on employment and labor-related matters either in-house or with a nationally recognized law firm (or a combination of the two);
• Knowledge of employment laws and regulations including Title VII, Americans with Disabilities Act, Family and Medical Leave Act, Equal Employment Opportunity laws, wage and hour laws, background check laws, benefits laws, immigration, and other international, federal, state, and local laws;
• Superior business acumen with an unrivaled commitment and deep-seated need to provide responsive client service to our teams and get things done; approaches responsibilities with a business-friendly and pragmatic mindset while maintaining a commensurate balance of legal risk;
• Energetic, authentic, and friendly with a great sense of humor; capable of displaying strong negotiation skills and the ability to support difficult positions in a firm and patient manner;
• Effective communicator, able to interact with internal and external professionals of all types and backgrounds.

What You’ll Do: 

• Provide legal and strategic advice on global employment matters including employee relations, terminations, compliance, background screenings, benefits, immigration, recruiting, compensation, and other related matters; 
• Assist in managing employment-related disputes, complaints, litigation, and investigations;
• Draft, negotiate, and review employment related agreements, addenda, and amendments;
• Partner with the People team in the development of AlphaSense’s people policies;
• Advise on the use of AI technology in employee relations, recruiting/hiring, and other employment processes;
• Remain informed of the shifting legal landscape of global employment laws, regulations, and industry guidance;
• Help create and enhance playbooks to establish company parameters to scale the legal function as the company grows;
• Work effectively in a dynamic environment across different functional groups and time zones.
