  • You will be working on a hybrid schedule as part of Fidelity’s dynamic working arrangement.

  • The work location for this role is 483 Bay Street in Toronto until approx. 2026, when the work location will change to the new Mississauga office at 3 Robert Speck Parkway.

How You’ll Make an Impact

The Corporate Tax team operates in a dynamic, high-performance environment focused on managing complex tax audits, disputes, and strategic tax initiatives across multiple legal entities. The team plays a critical role in managing significant tax risk and partnering with senior leadership, business divisions, and external advisors to support the organization’s objectives.

The Corporate Tax Manager is a member of the Corporate Tax team in the Financial and Corporate Services Division and reports to the Vice President, Corporate Tax.  This role is primarily focused on managing significant tax risks and plays a key role in audit outcomes, risk mitigation, and supporting senior leadership decision-making; this would include regular interaction with senior management, finance leaders, external advisors, and tax authorities.  This role is also responsible for transfer pricing compliance.  This role has exposure to complex tax matters across multiple entities and jurisdictions.

Responsibilities:

Primary Focus: Tax Audit & Dispute Management

  • Lead and manage complex tax audits across multiple tax disciplines, including corporate income tax, indirect tax (GST/HST and sales tax), withholding tax, and transfer pricing audits.

  • Develop and implement audit strategies, technical positions, and negotiation approaches to optimize outcomes and mitigate tax risk.

  • Serve as the primary liaison with tax authorities (e.g., Canada Revenue Agency), managing audit inquiries, information requests, and negotiations.

  • Lead tax dispute resolution activities, including objections, appeals, settlements, and Competent Authority proceedings.

  • Coordinate and lead all aspects of the work of external advisors, including accounting firms and legal counsel, while partnering with internal collaborators across the organization.

  • Prepare and deliver updates to senior management on audit and disputes progress, key developments, risks, and recommended actions.

  • Support special projects and other ad hoc tax matters as required.

Transfer Pricing Tax Compliance

  • Preparing transfer pricing documentation for tax compliance purposes.

  • Provide tax consulting for business divisions with respect to transfer pricing on cross-border transactions.

  • Work with international tax teams on the tax support of cross-border transactions.

Leadership & Projects

  • Lead and mentor offshore tax teams in India

  • Drive improvements in execution and strengthen tax governance and controls

  • Lead or support central initiatives and cross-functional projects including ad hoc special projects


What We Are Looking For

  • University degree, preferably in accounting, finance, business, or a related discipline. Equivalent work experience will also be considered.

  • Minimum 5-7 years of working experience in accounting/tax, corporate tax experience required, including tax audits, disputes, and transfer pricing.

  • Professional designation or advanced tax qualification, such as a CPA or Master of Taxation required.

  • Completion of the CPA Canada In-Depth Tax Program preferred.

  • Experience within financial services or a complex, multi-entity organization preferred.

  • Public accounting (Big 4) or relevant in-house corporate tax experience strongly preferred.

  • Strong experience managing audits and tax authority interactions

  • Strong transfer pricing knowledge and experience are preferred

  • Ability to translate complex tax concepts into clear business insights for senior collaborators

  • Strong understanding of tax risk management and internal controls

  • Strong leadership, critical thinking, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills with a pragmatic approach

  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities in a high-volume environment

  • Experience working with global or offshore teams is an asset

  • Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, including the ability to explain intricate tax issues clearly to non-tax collaborators and senior management.

  • Diligent, results-focused, proactive, and accountable for outcomes.

  • Quick learner who is self-motivated, exercises sound judgment, works independently with appropriate guidance, asks thoughtful questions, and demonstrates curiosity and a strong learning mindset.

  • Proven ability in managing large datasets and financial models to assess tax outcomes.

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, including financial modelling, pivot tables, lookup functions, net present value calculations, and large-dataset analysis; proficiency in PowerPoint, corporate tax software (e.g., Corporate Taxprep), tax research databases (e.g., CCH IntelliConnect), and AI-enabled productivity tools.

  • Solid understanding of income tax accounting under IFRS, including IAS 12.

  • In-depth knowledge of income tax legislation and practices with respect to a variety of different types of corporate and other taxes

  • Positive attitude and supportive teammate.

  • Base Salary and Discretionary Performance Bonus: Total annual cash compensation (base salary plus target bonus) ranges from $139,000 to $176,000, based on your experience and qualifications.

  • RRSP Contribution: After 6 months of employment, we invest in your future with an RRSP contribution—no employee matching required.
