ispace is seeking a highly motivated and talented GNC Systems Engineer to join the System Design Group under the Global Design division, responsible for the design and development of lunar landers and other transportation and/or communication/navigation platforms.
The ideal candidate will have in-depth experience on GNC (AOCS) design, implementation, integration, V&V and operations, good technical knowledge of multiple spacecraft subsystems and experience in the system engineering disciplines for spacecraft design.
This is a unique opportunity to join a truly fascinating project, the first stage of ispace’s plans to perform resource prospecting on the moon. In this position, you will be assigned to one or more of ispace's projects, and join a small, international team of engineers working towards the detailed design and qualification of our first missions.
Candidates with demonstrated "hands-on" experience in some engineering domains and interdisciplinary experience are preferred. Teamwork is valued, and depending on the strengths of each member of the systems engineering team, the responsibilities listed below will be assigned accordingly.

This role sits at the intersection of satellite system engineering and project management, ensuring that mission requirements, technical design, schedule, cost, and risk are continuously balanced and optimized.
The successful candidate will act as a technical authority and system integrator, leading cross‑functional engineering teams and making critical technical trade‑off decisions that enable both mission success and long‑term business viability.

1. Technical Leadership & System Ownership
Own the satellite system across the full lifecycle, from mission requirements definition through design, development, testing, launch preparation, and operations readiness.
Lead system‑level architecture decisions covering satellite bus, payload, ground segment, and operational concepts
Drive technical trade‑off analyses across performance, mass, power, cost, schedule, and risk
Serve as the primary technical decision‑maker (or delegate technical authority) for project‑level engineering topics
Identify, assess, and mitigate technical risks at both system and subsystem levels
2. Project Execution from a Technical Perspective
Lead project execution with a strong engineering focus, ensuring technical feasibility, quality, and consistency
Develop and manage integrated schedules aligned with engineering milestones and reviews
Support project cost control and P&L decision‑making by assessing technical cost drivers and design choices
Plan, prepare, and technically lead major project reviews, including SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, and FRR
3. Team & Stakeholder Collaboration
Technically lead internal and external engineering teams across satellite, payload, ground, and operations domains
Conduct technical reviews and provide guidance to subsystem leads and engineers
Coordinate and negotiate technical matters

- Proven ability to make and explain technical decisions under schedule and cost constraints

The ideal candidate has over 5 years of experience in GNC subsystem development, including algorithm design, sensor modelling, and performance evaluation, as well as spacecraft systems engineering with failure mode analysis. The candidate is proficient in C/C++, Python, Git, and understands modern software development practices.
The candidate has hands‑on experience with closed‑loop test frameworks (MIL/SIL/PIL/HIL), developing models and interfaces for IMUs, star trackers, LiDARs, cameras, and propulsion systems, along with direct involvement in system‑level spacecraft testing (SCLT, DOLT, DCLT). Proven capability in vision‑based navigation system development is essential.

If you are an experienced AOCS/GNC engineer with strong technical depth in spacecraft guidance, navigation, and control with 5+ years of hands‑on engineering experience, proven capability in 6DOF simulations, trajectory optimization, and the development of guidance, navigation, and attitude control algorithms. The candidate is proficient in C/C++, Python, Git, and modern software engineering practices, including clean code principles and unit testing.
Candidate must excel in cross‑functional teamwork, communicate effectively, demonstrate a proactive and enthusiastic attitude, and operate comfortably in an English‑speaking engineering environment. This candidate can independently develop, analyze, and validate advanced spacecraft control algorithms and contribute meaningfully to mission‑critical GNC system design.
