Key Responsibilities:

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

The Senior Grant Accountant provides financial support for grants and contracts, along with ad hoc financial management support for key annual processes. Leveraging on strong commercial acumen, financial modelling, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills, the role supports the effective financial design and management of field projects and contributes to the delivery of key financial processes.

The role works closely with stakeholders across the Support Office and international offices, applying strong organizational skills, sound judgement, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment. Through high-quality financial stewardship, this position helps advance the organization's mission to reduce global poverty and vulnerability.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Deliver key financial reporting and compliance outcomes as part of the Grant Finance, acting as a trusted advisor to the broader organization

• Responsible for the development and maintenance of budget and donor guidelines to support the acquisitions process.
• Provide financial modelling and analysis support for commercial contracts and opportunities.
• Identify financial risks during proposal development and recommend mitigations or escalate issues as appropriate.
• Review contracts to identify financial risks and implications and provide analysis and recommendations to support Finance Manager and key stakeholders in contract discussions and implementation of appropriate mitigation actions.

Partner with Field Offices and WVI to support robust financial management and delivery of projects

• Support field offices and country impact managers with project financial management advice including foreign currency, cash flow and budget management and donor specific financial requirements.
• Leverage tools and reports available internally and within the WVI partnership to improve internal financial controls and processes.
• Facilitate the development and delivery of training programmes build financial capacity and knowledge across field offices.

Management of donor compliance and financial reporting

• Responsible for the preparation of financial acquittals in line with donor requirements and submitted for review and sign-off in a timely manner.
• Improve efficiency of financial processes underpinned by the principle of good stewardship.
• Liaise with donors/ Field Offices and Contract Managers on financial related matters
• Able to reconcile and validate data from multiple sources, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and a reliable single source of truth for reporting and decision-making.

Partner and collaborate with key stakeholders to achieve business outcomes

• Build rapport and become a trusted advisor to business stakeholders
• Provide financial insights and recommendations to support informed decision-making aligned with the Support Office’s principles and mission.
• Adapt and overcome likely obstacles to success such as client resistance, resource issues and timing

Support with monthly and annual Field Allocations processes

• Assist the Finance Manager in providing guidance to the Field Allocations team to complete month-end reconciliations, year-end adjustments, carry-forward processes and other ad hoc requests in the budget and actuals system and the field allocations ledger, pro-actively resolving data and process issues, and identifying opportunities for process enhancements.
• All work is completed in accordance with agreed policies and to a high standard of accuracy and completeness.
• Attend and participate in meetings, team events and conference that may be assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor's or University Degree in Accounting or Finance
• Minimum 4-6 years of extensive experience in all areas of finance and accounting, preferably within an international NGO, multilateral organization or audit/accounting environment.
• Experience managing institutional donor contracts and compliance
• Experience building and interpreting financial models in a commercial setting
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications
• Advanced skills or experience in Power BI, PowerPivot, MS Dynamics and Power Query
• Strong understanding of data management principles and relationships between multiple data sources
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and multitasking skills
• Knowledge of key policies and practices that inform contract compliance. This includes external regulatory requirements, WVI policies and donor guidelines.
