ABOUT THE TEAM

Anduril's Lattice software platform integrates many sensors into a single cohesive view of the battlefield, providing the context our users need to make better decisions, faster. Perception Engineers on Anduril's Frontier AI team build edge-compatible systems that power these views, transforming complex multi-sensor inputs into accurate, actionable understanding of the world. We integrate ambitious machine learning and computer vision algorithms directly into the Lattice platform to increase the fidelity, accuracy, and usefulness of battlefield awareness. These systems improve the experience of Anduril's existing customers, aid in the scaling of our business to new customers, use-cases, and business lines, and they create high-quality snapshots of the world that autonomous and agentic systems can operate on top of.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Design, train, and deploy computer vision and perception models for edge-
  compatible, mission-critical environments
• Build multi-sensor perception systems that fuse imagery, video, and other sensor
  data into coherent views of the battlefield
• Improve the fidelity, accuracy, and robustness of Lattice's understanding of objects,
  activities, and environments across varied operational conditions
• Integrate state-of-the-art machine learning algorithms into production systems used
  by customers in real-world scenarios
• Develop mission-relevant evaluation frameworks, datasets, and benchmarks to
  measure perception performance in the field
• Partner closely with software, autonomy, product, and deployment teams to turn
  research ideas into operational capabilities
• Identify new perception and battlefield-understanding problems where advances in
  computer vision can unlock major product impact

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Machine
  Learning, or a related technical field
• 5+ years of experience developing computer vision, perception, or machine learning
  systems in production or advanced research settings
• Strong experience with deep learning, object detection, and object tracking
  frameworks
• Strong programming skills in Python, with the ability to build reliable research and
  production workflows
• Strong desire to invent, implement, test, and deploy novel techniques that vastly
  improve upon state-of-the-art public methods to solve research problem specific to
  the defense space
• Experience training, evaluating, and iterating on vision models for detection, tracking,
  segmentation, classification, or sensor fusion tasks
• Experience deploying or optimizing ML systems for constrained, real-time, or edge
  compute environments
• Ability to work across the full lifecycle of applied ML, from problem formulation and
  data strategy through deployment and performance monitoring
• Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance

About the Role

Applied Intuition is redefining vehicle intelligence across commercial and defense sectors. Anduril’s Tactical Recon & Strike (TRS) is a division with two missions: 1) build highly capable autonomous drones, and 2) build solid rocket motors at scale. ABOUT THE JOB

RAIL has two primary customers:

• Mission Autonomy (MA) — Mission Autonomy at Anduril is responsible for coordinating mission-level behaviors by manipulating hardware. For example, “fly to these waypoints,” “enter radio silence mode,” or “arm munitions.”
• Robotics Business Lines — These teams own specific Anduril robots end-to-end, as well as individual pieces of hardware on those robots.

RAIL bridges the gap between Mission Autonomy and diverse sets of hardware by creating common hardware interfaces. To allow Anduril to effortlessly integrate with new hardware. RAIL enables Anduril to scale and deploy ambitious new robot designs on short timelines by leveraging learnings and investments from our existing portfolio of diverse hardware and products.

For example, Anduril procures autopilots from a multitude of different hardware vendors. Each autopilot has a subtly different hardware interface — some use MAVLINK, some use STANAG, others use bespoke vendor-specific serial interfaces. Despite having different interfaces, they all provide standard functionality that flies along a set of waypoints.

As an author of advanced mission behavior, I shouldn’t care whether my autopilot speaks MAVLINK or STANAG — I just want my vehicle to get flying. RAIL abstracts away these subtle hardware differences from Mission Autonomy by providing a shared, common interface as a layer between Mission Autonomy and low-level hardware integrations. RAIL also provides other valuable features such as hardware custody management and access-control semantics, shared-memory IPC approaches and flexible observability plugins, to name a few.

Team Overview

The Platform Security Engineering (PSE) team builds security into Anduril's products from architecture through production. We work directly with business lines to design and implement security solutions tailored to their systems — then promote proven patterns into shared, composable platform services that the entire organization can use. Our mission is threefold: build security solutions for business lines, promote those solutions into the platform, and enable teams to build and operate securely on their own. THE ROLE

ABOUT THE TEAM

The Air Dominance & Strike team at Anduril develops aerial and multi-domain robotic systems. The team is responsible for taking products like Fury (unmanned fighter jet) and Barracuda (air-breathing cruise missile) from concept to product. The team also develops Lattice for Mission Autonomy, Anduril’s premier software platform that enables masses of Fury, Barracuda, and other first and third party robots to collaborate across various missions. ABOUT THE TEAM

The Massed Effects (MFX) Team within the Air Dominance & Strike (AD&S) Division at Anduril provides customers a high reliability, trusted solution for generating military utility using robotic and autonomous systems (RAS). The Air Dominance & Strike team at Anduril develops aerial and multi-domain robotic systems. The team is responsible for taking products like Fury (unmanned fighter jet) and Barracuda (air-breathing cruise missile) from concept to product. The team also develops Lattice for Mission Autonomy, Anduril’s premier software platform that enables masses of Fury, Barracuda, and other first and third party robots to collaborate across various missions. ABOUT THE TEAM

Air Dominance & Strike (AD&S) is responsible for autonomous robotics systems like the Fury unmanned fighter jet and the Barracuda family of advanced effects. The AD&S Vehicle Software team is responsible for the software running on these systems. Our software engineers collaborate with other engineering disciplines to develop software for vehicle control, networking, sensor integration, and telemetry. We are looking for engineers excited to build the foundational vehicle software stack that supports the wide range of AD&S initiatives, from early concept simulation to first flight to live operations to large scale fleet management.

Anduril’s Tactical Reconnaissance and Strike Division (TRS) is responsible for design and development of Anduril’s fleet of small warfighting and surveillance drones deployed around the world, including Ghost, Anvil, Altius, and Bolt. The guidance, navigation, and control (GNC) team within TRS performs implementation, analysis, test, and validation, modeling & simulation, for GNC software solutions supporting our autonomous drone fleet. Hudson River Trading (HRT) is hiring an AI Researcher to join the HAIL team. HAIL (HRT AI Labs) is the team at HRT responsible for developing and maintaining our most powerful models, which are used by our trading teams to drive a significant fraction of our trading. We are building and deploying "foundation models for markets", that ingest and train on vast amounts of market data, to make predictions about future market state. We are seeking experienced AI researchers to join our team to accelerate our efforts.

Researchers have great independence to pursue the research directions they think would be most impactful as part of a small focused team with minimal bureaucracy. They are enabled by state-of-the-art research clusters with very high GPU-to-researcher ratios, and supported by excellent engineering, hardware, and systems teams to realize their vision. Your work will be directly, clearly, highly impactful on the business, and it will be challenging: this is a field with no easy or obvious solutions. You'll be responsible for improving every part of our models: from featurization of data, to architecture design, to training dynamics, to how trading decisions are made.

Qualifications

• Must have two or more years work experience in deep learning research, for any domain: robotics, biology, chemistry, physics, audio, video, etc.

Compensation

The expected salary range for this role is $192,000 - $240,000. However, the starting base pay will depend on a number of factors including the candidate’s location, skills, experience, market demands, and internal pay parity. Depending on the position offered, equity and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package.

About the role

As a Robotic Software Engineer, you will design and integrate complex autonomy and vehicle intelligence systems spanning hardware and software domains. You will integrate hardware and software onto vehicle platforms and deploy autonomy algorithms in both SIL, HIL and live test environments.  Computer networking, code integration, and a passion for robotics integration is a must.   You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver robust, scalable solutions for defense and commercial customers, providing seamless hardware-software integration, troubleshooting, and customer-facing demonstrations.

At Applied Intuition you will:

• Adapt and develop modular and agile autonomy capabilities across diverse defense problems
• Integrate and deploy autonomy solutions onto embedded Linux and other hardware platforms, including interfacing with sensors and collecting data
• Troubleshoot complex integration and software issues to ensure high reliability and performance
• Integrate autonomy software into hardware in collaboration with autonomy engineers that supports full integration with aircraft autopilots, datalinks, sensors, PNT/GPS/INS, ground control stations, etc.
• Support live flight test of autonomy software on group 1-5 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs)
• Collaborate with 3rd party UAS vehicle vendors on the integration of Applied autonomy software onto OEM UAS hardware
• Conduct system-level setup, testing, and validation, including software-in-the-loop and hardware-in-the-loop evaluations
• Collaborate with autonomy engineers to implement service-oriented-architecture software and inter-process messaging systems for autonomous UASsCollaborate with DoD warfighter domain experts and 3rd party UAS vehicle vendors to develop and integrate autonomy software onto OEM hardware

Who we’re looking for:

• BS or MS in Robotics, Computer Science or related engineering field
• 3+ years of hands-on experience working with robotic systems (hardware, software, and integration)
• Experience with software programming languages:​​ C++ preferred
• Experience integrating autonomy/robotics products with Pixhawk autopilots (ArduPilot and/or PX4)​
• Experience integrating with communication busses & protocols:​UART/RS232/RS422/RS485​, SPI/QSPI​, I2C​, Ethernet
• Experience developing in Docker, containerized deployment environments, and using Linux-based operating systems (e.g., RHEL, Ubuntu)
• Experience using git, Visual Studio Code, GitLab
• Familiarity  with real-time, edge computing, and safety-critical systems operating in software-in-the-loop (SIL), hardware-in-the-loop (HIL), test & operational environments
• Excellent communication skills and customer-oriented project delivery mindset
• Willingness to travel frequently for on-site integration and demonstrations (estimated 10–20%)
• Must be a U.S. Citizen
• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance

Nice to have:

• Experience in modern C++ (2011, 2017, or 2020 standards), Bash, and CMake
• FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate 
• Experience with Agile development practices and CI/CD pipelines
• Prior work with COTS hardware integration such as Nvidia Jetson and Raspberry Pi
• Active U.S. SECRET clearance preferred

Compensation at Applied Intuition for eligible roles includes base salary, equity, and benefits.
