Job Overview
A Software Engineer 2 is an experienced professional responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining software applications. This person serves as an independent contributor implementing software solutions with light supervision from more senior members of the software department. They have a strong understanding of programming languages, software development methodologies, and debugging techniques and contribute to the entire software development lifecycle, from initial design to testing and deployment.
Essential Functions
- Contribute during the entire software development process including requirements, design, implementation, test, debugging and deployment.
- Develop Embedded Linux, Windows PC and microcontroller software applications using C, C++, and occasionally other programming languages.
- Maintain computer programs using advanced software programming and/or scripting languages, techniques and standards.
- Support specification, design, development, maintenance, integration, documentation, debug and testing of software for Windows and embedded software applications in C and C++.
- Embedded applications in custom headless devices with focus on real-time performance aspects including multi-threading, time synchronization.
- Support configuration, troubleshooting, data analysis, and integration of a wide variety of applications and equipment such as internal software libraries and products, GPS receivers, LiDAR sensors, Inertial sensors, network routers, radio modems, meteorological sensors, serial port hubs, etc.
- Review and evaluate technological developments in hardware, software, and telecommunications for applicability to current or future requirements.
- Analyze user requirements to derive software design and performance requirements.
- Design, develop, deploy, configure, document and debug software, while properly escalating issues to meet deadlines.
- Support software-in-the-loop (SIL), hardware-in-the-loop (HIL), bench testing, and flight testing
- Apply the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the development lifecycle, and ensure reuse of code.
- Design and code new software or modify existing software to add new features.
- Troubleshoot and debug existing software and correct defects.
- Integrate existing software into new or modified systems or operating environments.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job Overview
The Embedded Systems Group Lead serves both as lead engineer and as a technical manager. The Group Lead provides both technical direction and organizational leadership for the embedded systems software engineering team developing advanced autonomy, control, and mission systems for AEVEX’s UAS platforms. This individual serves as an in-house expert, both for managers from other departments who need software solutions and the less experienced staff within the department. The Embedded Systems Group Lead serves as the primary leader and advocate for the software engineering team representing their needs, removing roadblocks, and acting as their voice to program management, customers, and company leadership. This role bridges technical execution and strategic alignment ensuring that software deliverables meet mission, schedule, and quality objectives while fostering a high-performance engineering culture. The Group Lead looks at different possible solutions and how feasible those options are. The Group Lead will oversee multiple concurrent projects, day-to-day leadership of engineers, resource management, and serve as the primary interface between the software team and program management, systems engineering, flight test, customers, and company leadership. The Group Lead is also responsible for keeping proprietary information confidential.

- Lead a multidisciplinary software engineering group responsible for embedded, autonomy, and ground-station UAS software development.

Responsibilities
- As critical members of Cloudflare’s sales team, Solutions Engineers drive technical discussions and implementations to help generate new business, expand existing business, and keep our customers happy.
- In business generation and expansion, you’ll be tasked with qualification of prospect and customer use cases, technical requirements discovery, leading demonstrations, solution identification and design, and collaborative work on proofs-of-concept (PoCs).

Overview: The Senior Software Development Engineer L4 is expected to successfully work through complex tasks independently, understand the intricacies of the software development life cycle, and display strong adherence to fundamental software engineering principles in the production of software. This position requires a deep understanding of computer architecture and other key areas, including software testing and scalability.
This role will contribute to a hospital system data platform that ingests and processes clinical data, including patient records, lab results, surgical data, and hospital system messages, and delivers customized alerting and reporting to clinical staff. The engineer will be expected to work with a high degree of independence once onboarded, and will have opportunities to mentor and coach junior members of the team.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively to write high quality, testable code that meets the “Definition of Done” as it relates to team commitments;
- Utilize a “Test-First” approach to software development, where possible, in which the test is developed before the code;
- Participate in design and code reviews with other engineers;
- Create automated unit, system and acceptance tests and participate in test plan reviews;
- Actively support and contribute to end of iteration demos;
- Responsible for assigned integration, testing and deployment tasks;
- Work with product management to scope and estimate product enhancements;
- Design, implement, unit test software, and test software following defined processes;
- Fix software defects (internal or customer reported) following defined process;
- Actively foster continuous team improvement by being accountable for actions and continuously striving to become a better problem solver;
- Contribute to team retrospectives, helping to identify and resolve team impediments;
- Write and maintain documentation to describe program development, logic, coding, testing, changes, and corrections;
- Actively participate in the change management process as business and technical scope is adjusted;
- Develop and maintain integrations that process and filter inbound hospital system messages, including parsing, validating, and routing clinical data into the platform;
- Support cloud migration efforts, contributing to the transition of existing on-premise workloads toward AWS-based infrastructure;
- Mentor and coach junior engineers, providing guidance on code quality, architectural decisions, and engineering best practices;
- Adhere to all confidentiality, HIPAA, regulatory, and other such policies, procedures, and requirements as outlined within Employer’s Operating Policies and Procedures in all ways and at all times with respect to any aspect of the data handled or services rendered in the scope of work.
- Maintain compliance with Inovalon’s policies, procedures and mission statement, and fulfill those responsibilities and/or duties that may be reasonably provided by Inovalon for the purpose of achieving operational and financial success.
- On Call Policy: Participate in an on-call rotation to support critical issues, including outside standard business hours (evenings, weekends, and holidays), ensuring timely response and resolution as per defined SLAs.
Job Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of software development experience, with demonstrated proficiency in C# and MS SQL Server; strong foundation in data structures and algorithms required;
- 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture;
- Experience with Python or similar scripting languages is a plus;
- Experience with Lua, particularly for message intake, filtering, and processing, is a plus;
- Experience with or demonstrated interest in cloud platforms, particularly AWS, in support of ongoing migration efforts.

- Demonstrated ability to work independently and take ownership of complex technical problems with minimal supervision;

Education:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or Information Technology
- Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience preferred.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Sedentary work (i.e. sitting for long periods of time).
- Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force.
- Subject to inside environmental conditions.
- Travel for this position will include less than 10% locally usually for training purposes.
