We're looking for an Engineering Manager to lead the Rides Safety team. Your team will build and operate the systems that help keep riders and drivers safe before, during, and after every trip – from preventing abuse and dangerous behaviour to reacting fast when something goes wrong. This is a role with clear, measurable impact on millions of trips and a strong influence on how safety-related product and engineering decisions are shaped and executed across Bolt.
With over 200 million customers in 53+ countries, Bolt is one of the fastest-growing tech companies in Europe and Africa. And it's all thanks to our people.
We believe in creating an inclusive environment where everyone is welcome, regardless of race, colour, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, age, or disability.
Our ultimate goal is to make cities for people, not cars, and we need your help to achieve this mission!
Rides Safety sits at the intersection of engineering, product, and operations. You’ll lead a cross-functional engineering team (backend, mobile platforms, data science) that ships risk signals, in-trip safety features, and incident tooling used by internal teams across many markets. The work is demanding: you’ll balance user experience, growth, and operational cost against safety and risk reduction. There are no perfect answers, you’ll often choose between more friction and more exposure, between false positives and missed events, and contribute to tradeoffs together with Product and Operations. You’ll use data, domain input, and your team’s technical judgment to iterate towards a safer and more reliable system, supporting safety-critical flows across multiple markets and regions.
Experience is great, but what we really look for is drive, intelligence, and integrity. So even if you don’t tick every box, please consider applying if you feel you’re the kind of person described above!
