The Role

The Infrastructure Engineer’s role is to administer the Online Gaming platforms, ensure optimum performance and availability of such platform, provide third/fourth-level troubleshooting support, and liaise with all applicable service providers and third parties including NOC/1st/2nd line support. Key Responsibilities 

• Partake in the design and implementation of new setups

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

• All-rounder with proven experience in linux based environments with very good IT knowledge
• Possess excellent communication skills, capable of delivering information to both technical as well as non-technical personnel, the ability to work autonomously and in a team environment
• Detect/analyse alarms to provide fault isolation and remote troubleshooting, being a responsible individual for problems until their complete resolution
• Ability to analyse logs for troubleshooting issues, including malicious activity or cybersecurity threats, code and systems errors and problems
• Understands how to direct, support and guide other team members and knows how to motivate them with great attention to detail and acts as a senior technical resource for outages until restoration.
• Production support or implementation of Kubernetes, preferable in google managed Kubernetes environment (GKE) for at least 24 months
• Virtualisation - OpenStack, VMware, Cloud - Experience with any: Google GKE, Amazon EKS, Azure AKS, OpenShift/OKD
• Excellent log analysis and setup of aggregated logging systems such as Splunk/EFK and excellent networking skills including packet capture and analysis

About the role: 

The Engineering Manager for the DevTools team leads a group focused on building internal developer platforms (IDPs), tooling, and services that enable product delivery teams to move quickly, safely, and efficiently. This role is designed for a technical leader who thrives at the intersection of high-scale systems architecture and people development. Role: Account Director 

Location: Durban, South Africa (hyrid, 3 days a week in office) 

About the role: 

Working in partnership with our client, the Account Director will be leading & inspiring the account management team to ensure delivery to a high standard and to agreed scope, budget and timeframe, meeting (or exceeding) customer expectations. As an Account Director, you will be responsible for project governance across the team, as well as monitoring and tracking performance and profitability. 

This role will include line management and so you will help to mentor individuals, so they are able to learn and flourish as individuals. As a Senior Account Director, you will report into the Head of Delivery and work with the Operations team to ensure smooth day-to-day activities, and continuous improvements across the department and account.  

What you will be doing: 

• Take overall responsibility for the Account Management team’s project governance, defining and upholding best practice, while driving continuous project management excellence. 
• Lead high-value, key projects, creating robust plans and budgets, working with other project team members to execute delivery. 
• Proactively review processes and recommend changes which are likely to deliver efficiencies to timings and costs. 
• Monitoring all project progress, to be a point of escalation for the Account Management team and remove obstacles before they impact any deliveries. 
• Effectively monitor profitability across the department, identifying risks and implementing mitigation strategies to ensure projects are delivered on brief, on time and within budget.

This position reports to the Software Engineering Manager (Logistics).

We are an energetic team that is fully responsible for all the systems required to support the Takealot Group's delivery network as well as the unique challenges that come with logistics and scale. We have adopted a microservices architecture to both isolate our logic and to enable scale. We follow the event-driven architecture as well as utilize a graph database to model our delivery network. We are currently working through unique problems in the logistics space and are actively researching the usage of the actor model design pattern and graph traversal optimization.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it:

• Developing and optimizing systems to manage both parcel and food delivery throughout South Africa
• Working with business to improve processes to allow for more efficient deliveries
• Researching and defining solutions within the logistic domain
• Working predominantly on open source platforms

Equal Experts is an innovative consultancy specialising in the delivery of custom software solutions for blue-chip enterprise and public sector clients across a range of industry sectors. We work on important projects for our clients, deliver market-leading propositions across the digital, online and mobile
channels, and are recognised for our leadership in the application of agile and lean delivery methods to assure delivery. We have offices in Australia, India, South Africa, the UK, the EU and the USA. We’re seeking Frontend Engineers with proven senior-level experience to join the Equal Experts
network.

As a member of the team you will work alongside our clients to help design and deliver solutions to meet business requirements and help to improve the effectiveness of the clients' software delivery capability. And of course, all this happens in a consultative, collaborative fashion – in keeping with our
values. You should have extensive experience delivering software on commercial projects backed up by good knowledge of agile practices such as TDD, pair programming and CI/CD to name a few. A growth-based, learning mindset is a must coupled with a passion for technology.
This role involves working in teams that use modern agile technical practices - including continuous integration and deployment and fast feedback loops - to deliver timely and pragmatic solutions, as well as helping others to do their jobs in a more effective way.

Responsibilities
● Working with the client and the team to determine system requirements and how best to deliver them.
● Delivery of software using agile (pair programming, TDD, CI/CD, etc) practices
● Automation of system infrastructure and deployments.
● Production support of systems you are working on (You build it, you run it).
● Advocating agile practices to the client organisation.
● Mentoring client team members.
● Helping improve the team and clients’ delivery capabilities.

Required Skills
● Extensive, diversified experience developing, maintaining and operating enterprise scale distributed systems.
● Expert level knowledge of web, Javascript and the associated tooling. Experience with Javascript frameworks such as ReactJS, VueJS and AngularJS etc are highly desirable. Up-to-date knowledge of semantic HTML & CSS.
● Hands on experience with building performant, secure and accessible applications
● Hands-on experience with test driven development and other forms of automated testing.
● Strong understanding of the principles underlying agile development and an understanding of the various approaches that can be effective in realising these principles in different contexts.
● Strong communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively while working remotely with globally distributed teams.
● Strong interpersonal skills, including a desire to collaborate and share knowledge with other team members, including client team members. This also includes the ability to work collectively towards a common goal without insisting on a given course of action.
