ABOUT THE ROLE

The BSc Software Engineering programme is a three-year degree programme with the aim of developing Software Engineering graduates at scale who are well prepared to leverage technology as the first hand solution to solve relevant problems in the continent and beyond and also who are ready to meet the needs of employers globally. This innovative and scalable programme prepares graduates not only with relevant technical skills but also problem solving and leadership skills missing in our tech graduates and promotes learning with a purpose.

The role  of the  SE Specialisation Coach - Full Stack Web Development entails the responsibility to successfully deliver the learning components of the programme in the Full Stack Web Development Specialization track or other SE modules adhering to the principles of our ALU’s Learning Model.

We are looking for an individual who can meet the requirements as mentioned in the profile below:

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage the in-person experience for the programme including the academic orientation,  induction for the specialisation modules for each intake, including responsibility for its development, evolution and its delivery adhering to the internal and external quality assurance standards
• Design, evolve and deliver the specialisation modules, induction and re-induction of new and existing coaches, respectively.
• Review, validate and refine the current learning curriculum of the Full Stack Web Development Specialization tracks and revise the operational plans per trimester for an effective learning delivery based on continuous feedbacks.
• Audit and refine the experiential learning components for each trimester additional to the support in self-directed student learning. Organize academic activities including Live coding sessions, Peer Learning Days, Mock Interview sessions, Hackathons and any other events that encourages student engagement in both online and in-person learning environments
• Administration and coordination of the internship modules along with supporting teams (Coaches, SPD team and other stakeholders)
• Evaluate the possibilities of improving student learning experiences by leveraging partnerships with industries, draft concept notes and finalize relevant plans to include the identified learning activities as part of the learning content.
• Contribute to updated definitive documentation for the Software Engineering modules in the programme handbooks, policies and accreditation documents
• Participate in regular student-staff consultative group meetings and other feedback instruments to capture student feedback and to implement recommendations to enhance the quality of programme delivery.
• Assist the SE Programme Manager in the review and approval of course modifications made by external learning content partners, either independently or following ALU inputs.
• Engage with all developmental and performance management processes for academic teams.
• Contribute to the annual programme review to ensure content is up-to-date, valid, relevant and reflects current and future trends in Software Engineering, whilst giving consideration to pedagogical approaches suited for hybrid learning.

• Implement modifications to the academic components following the findings of the annual programme review, periodic review, student-staff consultative groups, student evaluations and other quality assurance & enhancement instruments.

Person Specification:

Essential

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a relevant field where Software Engineering and/or Programming is a significant component with at least 5 years of industry experience in Web Development Domain.
• Experience in core web development components -  HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JSON, BootStrap, Flexbox etc
• Experience working with React.js, React-native, Node.js, ES6, modern SQL/NoSQL databases
• Deep knowledge and experience in DevOps technologies 
• Expertise in managing and deploying services on the public cloud - e.g. AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure
• Practical experience building and consuming RESTful APIs
• Expertise in information retrieval using Python requests and APIs
• Strong understanding of and practical exposure to regular expressions 
• Experience in network configurations, load balancing on servers and firewalls
• Knowledge in CI/CD technologies such as CircleCI and Jenkins

The Student Services Lead is a highly organized and compassionate leader who will oversee a team dedicated to providing essential support services to ALU students. In creating a world class education experience, the Academic Vertical plays an integral role in ensuring our academic operations and regulations are smoothly implemented, communicated and adhered to by all internal and external stakeholders, including students, faculty, staff and regulators. The Registrar Lead is a critical leadership role responsible for the integrity and security of all academic records at the African Leadership University. The Registrar oversees all functions related to student registration, academic records management, enrollment reporting, degree conferral and compliance with relevant regulations. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional communication skills, a deep understanding of academic policies and procedures and strong technical proficiency in student information systems, data analysis, and related technologies. They will be a strategic thinker, a problem-solver and a collaborative leader committed to providing excellent service to students, faculty, and staff.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Academic Records Management

• Maintain the accuracy, integrity and security of all student academic records, both physical and electronic.
• Develop and implement efficient and effective record-keeping procedures in compliance with university policies and regulatory requirements.
• Oversee the processing of grades, transcripts, enrollment verifications and other student record requests.

Registration and Enrollment

• Manage the student registration process, ensuring a seamless and user-friendly experience for students.

Policy Development and Implementation

Student Information System (SIS) Management

• Serve as the secondary administrator for the university's Student Information System ensuring its optimal functionality.

About the role

Sand is expanding across Africa and beyond, partnering with governments and public sector officials to deliver transformative AI and data solutions. We have deployed our flagship platform - the Health Operating System (HOS) - in more than 5 countries already. 

In Rwanda, hundreds of clinics have already been digitized, transforming rural facilities into next-generation health centers that are redefining care in Africa. Sand’s groundbreaking HOS integrates data and services to drive better outcomes - from maternal health to chronic disease management - already reaching more than 1 million patients. Designed for digital empowerment, the HOS equips thousands of frontline health workers with the tools and support they need to magnify their impact and strengthen community health.

The HOS is already operational across multiple countries, with plans to expand to 16 countries by the end of 2026, led by our Country Directors. 

This is not an idea — it’s already happening, and the momentum is accelerating. But healthcare is only one example; Sand is growing in various industries, namely water, energy, and telecommunications.

As an L&D Specialist for Francophone markets, you will be the primary driver of training delivery and local capacity building across these countries. You sit within the SAND Academy team and your focus is execution, making sure training lands, works in real contexts, and builds durable local capability.

You will report to the Academy Lead and collaborate closely with the Central Academy Team and Country Teams. The ideal candidate brings deep familiarity with Francophone African health systems and contexts — not just language, but cultural fluency, institutional knowledge, and field experience in the region. The Candidate is also passionate about learning impact, adaptable in dynamic environments, culturally aware, and comfortable working in rural or resource-constrained settings.

Specific Responsibilities

Training Delivery

• Lead all in-person and virtual training sessions for health facility staff, district teams, and Ministry stakeholders across Francophone deployments.
• Run Training of Trainers (ToT) programs to build a sustainable local trainer base in each country.
• Adapt global training content to Francophone country contexts — language, culture, workflow norms, and health system realities.
• Support learners end-to-end: from onboarding through to competency and follow-up.
• Conduct refresher training and targeted interventions based on performance gaps or new product releases.
• Support change management initiatives to improve digital adoption and workflow integration.

Learning Feedback & Performance Improvement

• Provide structured feedback to the Academy Programs Specialist on what is and isn't working in the field.
• Track learning effectiveness using adoption metrics, data quality indicators, and user competency assessments.
• Identify capability gaps and flag them for program-level response.
• Collaborate with Solution Managers and deployment teams to improve user performance and system utilization.

Content Creation, Adaptation & Knowledge Contribution

• Create, localize and contextualize training materials for Francophone audiences: translating not just language but practical application.
• Contribute to user guides, job aids, and playbooks drawn from country deployment experience.
• Support documentation of best practices and lessons learned.
• Collaborate with Central Teams to ensure training content reflects evolving product functionality.

Stakeholder Engagement

• Build trusted relationships with facility-level staff, district health teams, and Ministry of Health counterparts in Francophone countries.
• Represent SAND Academy in relevant local and national digital health forums.
• Support national digital health capacity-building initiatives where relevant.

Requirements - Essential

• 5+ years of experience in learning & development, capacity building, or training delivery, preferably in healthcare or public sector programs.
• Deep familiarity with Francophone African contexts — cultural, institutional, and operational. This is essential, not just language proficiency.
• Fluency in French (professional working level); English proficiency required for internal collaboration.
• Demonstrated experience delivering training in Francophone West or Central African countries.
• Experience supporting digital health implementations, health workforce training, or large-scale system rollouts.
• Strong facilitation skills, with the ability to simplify complex digital tools for diverse frontline audiences.
• Demonstrated experience working in low-resource or rural settings.
• Ability to analyze learning needs and translate them into clear, practical training solutions.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Skill Requirements - Preferable

• Background in public health, health informatics, education, or organizational development.
• Experience designing blended learning or digital learning solutions.
• Exposure to national health system strengthening programs or donor-funded initiatives.
• Experience managing multi-country training programs.

Work Environment

This is a hybrid role with significant in-person requirements. While some responsibilities can be performed remotely, the role demands regular presence on the ground to build relationships, oversee implementation, and represent Sand with local stakeholders. At the same time, given the high degree of virtual collaboration with colleagues and partners across multiple geographies, the successful candidate must be highly self-driven, comfortable working in small in-person teams while contributing to larger efforts virtually, and disciplined in using online collaboration tools and video conferencing to maintain constant communication.

Due to the considerable amount of virtual work and interaction with colleagues and customers in different physical locations internationally, it is essential that the successful applicant has the drive and ethic to succeed in working in small teams physically but in larger efforts virtually. Responsabilités Spécifiques

Déploiement de la Formation

• Diriger toutes les sessions de formation en présentiel et à distance pour le personnel des établissements de santé, les équipes de district et les parties prenantes ministérielles dans les déploiements francophones.
• Animer des programmes de Formation de Formateurs (ToT) pour bâtir une base durable de formateurs locaux dans chaque pays.
• Adapter le contenu de formation mondial aux contextes des pays francophones — langue, culture, normes de travail et réalités du système de santé.
• Accompagner les apprenants de bout en bout : de l'intégration jusqu'à la validation des compétences et au suivi.
• Organiser des formations de remise à niveau et des interventions ciblées en fonction des lacunes de performance ou des nouvelles versions de produits.
• Soutenir les initiatives de gestion du changement pour améliorer l'adoption numérique et l'intégration dans les pratiques de travail.

Retour Terrain & Amélioration des Performances

• Fournir des retours structurés au Spécialiste des Programmes Academy sur ce qui fonctionne ou non sur le terrain.
• Suivre l'efficacité de la formation à l'aide de métriques d'adoption, d'indicateurs de qualité des données et d'évaluations des compétences des utilisateurs.
• Identifier les lacunes en matière de compétences et les signaler pour une réponse au niveau du programme.

• Créer, localiser et contextualiser les supports de formation pour les publics francophones : en traduisant non seulement la langue, mais aussi l'application pratique.
• Contribuer aux guides utilisateurs, aux fiches pratiques et aux manuels issus de l'expérience des déploiements pays.
• Soutenir la documentation des bonnes pratiques et des leçons apprises.
• Collaborer avec les équipes centrales pour s'assurer que le contenu de formation reflète l'évolution des fonctionnalités du produit.

Engagement des Parties Prenantes

• Construire des relations de confiance avec le personnel des établissements, les équipes de santé de district et les homologues des Ministères de la Santé dans les pays francophones.
• Représenter la SAND Academy dans les forums locaux et nationaux pertinents sur la santé numérique.
• Soutenir les initiatives nationales de renforcement des capacités en matière de santé numérique, le cas échéant.

Compétences Requises — Essentielles

• 5 ans ou plus d'expérience en formation & développement, renforcement des capacités ou déploiement de formations, de préférence dans des programmes de santé ou du secteur public.
• Connaissance approfondie des contextes africains francophones — culturelle, institutionnelle et opérationnelle. C'est une exigence non négociable, et la maîtrise de la langue seule ne suffit pas.
• Maîtrise professionnelle du français ; niveau opérationnel en anglais requis pour la collaboration interne.
• Expérience avérée dans la délivrance de formations en Afrique de l'Ouest ou en Afrique centrale francophone.
• Expérience dans le soutien à des déploiements de santé numérique, la formation des personnels de santé ou le déploiement à grande échelle de systèmes.
• Solides compétences en facilitation, avec la capacité de simplifier des outils numériques complexes pour des publics variés en première ligne.
• Expérience avérée dans des environnements à ressources limitées ou ruraux.

Environnement de Travail

Il s'agit d'un poste hybride avec des exigences importantes en présentiel. Bien que certaines responsabilités puissent être exercées à distance, le poste requiert une présence régulière sur le terrain pour construire des relations, superviser la mise en œuvre et assurer la liaison avec les parties prenantes locales, ainsi qu'une collaboration étroite avec le reste de l'équipe Academy.

The Global Safety Nets and Microinsurance Senior Associate is a high-agility role responsible for the end-to-end design, piloting, and initial setup of household microinsurance and safety net products. The Entrepreneurship Development Manager will be instrumental in nurturing and expanding the entrepreneurial ecosystem within the country market. This dynamic role offers a unique opportunity to drive both operational excellence and strategic vision as a core member of a City Team. The Manager will report directly to the City General Manager for day-to-day operational leadership and program implementation, while also maintaining a strategic reporting line to the Entrepreneurship Director to ensure alignment with our global entrepreneurial efforts, in particular with our flagship ALX Ventures program. In this capacity, the Manager will integrate practices and perspectives from both city-specific and global contexts to advance our collective mission.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Serve as the primary champion for entrepreneurship within the country market, innovating and executing strategies to foster entrepreneurial initiatives within the ALX community.
• Host monthly in-person fireside chats with local entrepreneurs and investors to bolster community engagement.
• Organize and oversee quarterly in-person events such demo day and product launch events at ALX Tech Hubs to highlight promising startups from our Incubator and Accelerator programs to the local investment community.

Founder Academy

• Host weekly office hours and community sessions to provide ongoing guidance and accountability to founders.

• Identify high-performing entrepreneurs for advanced support, including incubation and investment-readiness opportunities.

Incubator Program

• Work closely with the ALX Ventures Incubator central team to deliver quarterly program goals and ensure alignment with regional entrepreneurship strategies.
• Screen, select, and onboard potential candidates from the Founder Academy graduates into the Incubator program, balancing both virtual and in-person delivery formats.
• Facilitate high-impact workshops, peer learning sessions, and milestone reviews that guide founders from prototype to market launch.
• Connect startups to tailored support such as intern placements, advisors, industry mentors, and investors.
• Organize Demo Days and local Pitch Events to showcase startups, attract partners, and position ventures for growth and investment.
• Engage with local investment, innovation, and startup communities to foster collaboration and visibility for ALX ventures.
• Design and host Masterclasses featuring leading entrepreneurs, investors, and domain experts across diverse sectors.
• Curate and manage a pool of local mentors and advisors, matching them with startups based on stage, sector, and growth needs.

REQUIREMENTS 

• Minimum of 5 years’ professional experience in entrepreneurship operations, venture building, or program and project management, ideally within innovation hubs, accelerators, or startup ecosystems.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Entrepreneurship, Innovation, or a related field (Master’s degree is an advantage).
• Proven track record working with startups or entrepreneurial ventures, with hands-on experience in launching, scaling, or mentoring businesses. Previous experience as a founder or startup coach is highly desirable.
• Demonstrated ability to design, implement, and evaluate entrepreneurship programs, demo days, masterclasses, and mentorship networks.
• Experience leading cross-functional or program delivery teams, managing multiple priorities, and collaborating effectively with central and regional stakeholders.
• Proven capacity to lead fundraising initiatives, develop and manage partnerships with investors, corporates, development partners, and government entities to advance entrepreneurship programs.

• Provide regular and on-demand mission support and mentorship to students throughout their learning journey through synchronous and asynchronous channels that enable them to contextualise their learning with respect to the grand challenges and great opportunities listed above.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a dynamic and visionary Professor of Practice to provide academic leadership in business, finance, economic, international trade and related domain areas within the school of business and for the service of the institution as a whole. The incumbent will serve as  the  intellectual leader and architect for the development of a suite of academic programmes in line with the needs of the Continent and the mission of ALU. The Professor of Practice will serve as an head of the ALUSB faculty, and will lead the development of a research framework appropriate to the mission, program composition, and faculty expertise of the University. 

Working with all relevant stakeholders across both campuses, the incumbent will lead the accreditation and development of post-graduate programs in business, leadership, and adjacent fields in both jurisdictions, with particular urgency given to the accreditation of post-graduate programs in Mauritius. 

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

This person is the leader of business education encompassing programme design, programme alignment and articulation, quality standards, mission alignment of business education  and overall business efficacy (which includes student satisfaction).  The key performance areas of the role are:

• Financial sustainability: Operate with a growth mindset to drive new streams of revenue while being disciplined in managing cost.
• Programs: In alignment with the Product, LEDI, and QA teams, drive the development and delivery of a portfolio of post-graduate programs attractive to the target audience, in the fields of Business, Economics, Finance and International Trade and International Finance.
• Teaching: Serve as an instructional faculty member within the School of Business in line with professional and educational qualifications.
• Research and scholarship: Devise and foster the research objectives of the institution through independent publications, collaborations with international organisations, and academic supervision of post-graduate students and junior academic staff.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Vice Provost is a senior academic leader at ALU who works closely with the Provost and Chief Product Officer to shape and advance the University’s academic strategy. This role is central to ensuring that ALU’s programs remain globally competitive, industry-relevant, and anchored in academic quality, while also scaling innovation across the institution.

The Vice Provost represents ALU in high-profile higher education and industry forums, strengthening the University’s reputation, credibility, and influence within Africa and globally. While the core mandate is to drive academic excellence and program leadership, the role also steers ALU’s research and thought leadership agenda, connecting emerging ideas and scholarship with curriculum, pedagogy, and entrepreneurship.

This is a role for a visionary academic and strategist who thrives at the intersection of academia and innovation. The successful candidate will anchor academic credibility while pioneering new models of faculty, research, and knowledge creation, redefining how a 21st-century African university contributes to higher education, leadership, and innovation on the global stage.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Academic Strategy  

• Drive integration of industry trends and global best practices into academic almanac, ensuring offerings remain relevant, competitive, and distinctive.
• Support with oversight of academic program quality, accreditation, and regulatory compliance, guaranteeing continuous improvement and excellence.
• Partner with Product and Delivery teams to ensure curriculum, pedagogy, and student experience achieve high impact.
• Champion academic innovation by embedding new approaches, technologies, and pedagogies into teaching and learning.
• Build and sustain strong relationships with accreditation bodies, regulators, and strategic partners to elevate academic credibility.

Thought Leadership & Research

• Coordinate applied research efforts that inform and enrich curriculum design, industry engagement, and student experience across the Institution.
• Facilitate collaboration with internal and external experts to develop research agendas linked to academic and institutional priorities.
• Act as a brand ambassador by representing ALU in conferences, forums, and public discourse, positioning the University as a thought leader.
• Identify and secure external funding opportunities to support research, academic initiatives, and strategic projects.
• Enhance the visibility and credibility of ALU through published research, events, and high-profile engagements.

Academic Program Leadership

• Provide strategic oversight in collaboration with Product and Design teams, for academic program execution across undergraduate, postgraduate, and executive education.
• Ensure pedagogy and methodology are consistently applied and evolve to maintain academic rigor and market relevance.
• Participate in and recommend ALU signature events and program-specific events that strengthen the institution’s reputation and student experience.
• Serve as faculty professor and teach courses aligned with expertise, contributing directly to student learning and academic excellence.

Faculty Leadership

• Promote the University and support the building of a strong pipeline of qualified faculty, aligned with the institution’s values and mission.
• Train and develop high-quality faculty with strong research and teaching capabilities.
• Provide mentorship and career development opportunities for the University’s faculty, across all programs.
• Evaluate postgraduate faculty performance and promote excellence in teaching, research, and thought leadership.

Program Leadership

• Drive and lead the concepts, strategies and operational success of specific units within the institution including Centre for Entrepreneurship, School of Business, Centre for Reimagine Africa.
• Lead the Business Development agenda, ensuring academic products and services are well-positioned in the marketplace and in entrepreneurship ecosystems.
• Serve as the Custodian of the Entrepreneurship Ethos, embedding entrepreneurial thinking across academic programs and institutional culture.
• Ensure Executive Education is designed and delivered at global standards, aligned with ALU’s strategy, and responsive to evolving leadership and industry needs.

Ensure the safety and well-being of all young persons and vulnerable adults with whom we deal,  by adhering to ALU’s comprehensive safeguarding policy, maintaining a zero-tolerance approach to any violations of safeguarding standards. 

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Terminal degree (PhD, EdD, DBA, or equivalent) from a recognized institution, with specialization in business, education, or a closely related discipline.
• Extensive leadership experience (10+ years) in senior higher education roles, ideally including oversight of business schools, executive education, or centers of innovation/entrepreneurship.
• A proven track record in academic strategy, program leadership, and institutional development, preferably within an African or global university context with a strong business and leadership orientation.
• Recognized scholarly contributions, including publications, research outputs, and participation in international academic or industry forums.
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching, curriculum innovation, and pedagogy, with the ability to align academic programs to industry and societal needs.
• Strong expertise in business development and market positioning of academic products and services, including executive education.
• Proven ability to navigate complexity and lead across multiple stakeholders (faculty, students, regulators, funders, and industry partners) in a competitive higher education landscape.
• Exceptional strategic communication, stakeholder engagement, and networking skills, with the ability to represent the institution globally.
