We’re searching for a Senior Systems Engineer to join Aurora’s Software Systems, Safety, and Test Engineering team. Systems, Safety, and Test Engineering is responsible for the engineering work to verify and validate Aurora’s self-driving technology - an unsolved problem for the industry and one of the most difficult challenges in the history of systems engineering. The System Test team is responsible for supporting system-level autonomy development, verification, and validation by delivering decision-quality information via test and evaluation of the Aurora Driver.

In this role, you will

The base salary range for this position is  $135,000 - $216,000 per Year. Aurora’s pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, the successful candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, relevant education or training, and market conditions. The Senior Engineer Team Lead is responsible for the validation of the autonomous vehicle stack with a primary emphasis on the interface between software and physical hardware. This role leads the development and execution of Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing strategies to ensure that perception, planning, and control algorithms interact safely and reliably with vehicle sensors, actuators, and ECUs.

You will be the technical authority for HIL bench architecture and hardware-software integration, ensuring that the "brain" of the vehicle commands the physical "body" with millisecond precision and fail-safe reliability.

This role serves as the primary technical authority for the end-to-end design, release, validation, and production readiness of key vehicle modules, including core systems such as Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Vehicle Interface Controllers (VIC), Cabin Monitoring Systems, and Human-Machine Interface (HMI) hardware. • Own the complete design release of critical vehicle system hardware, including the mechanical mounting, alignment, thermal management, electrical interface, and vehicle network integration.

• Lead the supplier partner and/or CM industrialization process from design through production ramp-up.

Required Qualifications

About The Role

Antora Energy is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Operations Engineer to serve as our first on-site operations presence at a supplier facility in Pennsylvania. The supplier operates high temperature furnaces that process material that is then integrated into Antora's thermal energy storage systems.

Because this program is new, you will build the operational foundation from the ground up: writing SOPs, defining the end-to-end material flow, establishing quality criteria & tracking, and implementing preventative maintenance schedules. Once production begins, you will own day-to-day execution — coordinating across the supplier's operators, maintenance crews, engineering, quality, EH&S, and logistics teams to ensure Antora's material moves safely, on spec, and on time.

This is a high-autonomy role. You will be Antora's eyes, ears, and decision-maker on site, while staying tightly connected to the broader Operations team at our San Jose headquarters.

What You'll Do

• Production Standup: Develop and implement SOPs, control plans, work instructions, and preventative maintenance schedules for all furnace operations — from receiving raw material through final pack-out and shipping

• Manages the relationship and work of assigned sub-contractors & suppliers
• Mentors and guides less experienced Project Engineers
• Communicates with owners about various project related matters and concerns
• Demonstrates, communicates, and reinforces all Company safety policies and procedures
• Performs additional assignments per supervisor’s direction
• May also perform the following duties depending on the size of the assigned project
• Based on quantity takeoffs, manages the ordering of materials needed to successfully execute the project
• Assists with pre-construction activities as needed:  construction planning and design; interpretation of design and drawings; prepare quantity takeoffs
• Prepares drawings and sketches to support construction work, change orders, estimates, etc.
• Manages verification of work-in-place quantities for invoicing/pay quantities; verifies accurate payment of subcontractors and material suppliers
• Maintains submittal logs and timely receipt and review of submittals and shop drawings
• Assembles construction financial data; monitors costs; tracks costs for force accounts
• Maintains job costing system and updates systems to reflect forecasts; creates margin reporting
• Ensures craft time cards are completed accurately, reflecting hours worked and tasks worked on; assigns cost codes to all purchases, time cards, contracts, equipment time and any other item involving cost
• Maintains as-built drawings; posts RFI, bulletin and ASI as appropriate
• Maintains RFI logs and timely response to job questions
• Assists with constructability reviews and value engineering functions
• Develops, implements and administers project engineering procedures and other work documents; tracks and logs documentation
• Manages and maintains all safety and quality records
• Develops, maintains, and updates project CPM schedule
• Ability develop and manipulate resource and cost loaded CPM schedules for reporting and planning purposes
• Prepares project status reports and participates in project status meetings; developments of meeting minutes
• Assists in project close-out activities
• May support estimates as needed

 Experience/ Qualifications:

• 4-year degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
• 3-5 years of experience in similar role, Bridge construction experience preferred
• PE Preferred

Work Environment:

• This position is both outdoors and indoors
• This work environment may involve minimal to moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors and/or loud noises
• Exposure to moving mechanical parts
• Noise levels in the outdoor work environment is usually loud
• Ability to wear and work in personnel protective equipment including but not limited to hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, ankle-supporting safety-toed work boots and a safety vest.
