About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join one or more product engineering teams building mission-critical Point of Sale and eCommerce SaaS platforms. This role balances technical execution, hands-on development, and cross-functional collaboration in a highly regulated, high-availability environment.

• Implement and advocate for best practices in code quality, testing, observability, and CI/CD.
• Help guide architectural decisions for high-throughput, low-latency systems.

Cloud-Based Point of Sale & Platform Features

• Inventory Management and PO sync: Items matrices, Vendor Catalog, Purchase Order Management, Multi-store inventory.
• CRM: Customer details capture, purchase history tracking, targeted marketing campaigns, gift card management, and loyalty rewards.
• Sales & Promotions: Custom discounts, bulk pricing, time-sensitive promotions, and bundled offers.
• Reporting & Analytics: Detailed dashboards and exportable reports covering best-sellers, profit margins, and more.
• Employee Management: User roles, time tracking, permissions, and cross-location metrics.
• Payment: Integration with Quilt Payment or external payment providers.
• eCommerce Sync: Integration with Quilt's internal eCommerce module or platforms like Shopify and DoorDash.
• Support platform reliability, uptime, and data integrity for merchants and partners.
• Participate in incident response and post-mortems, contributing to long-term fixes.
• Support PCI DSS, SOC 2, and other compliance requirements.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience.
• Hands-on, full-stack development experience with React (frontend) and PHP/MySQL (backend) .
• Experience building and operating SaaS platforms at scale.
• Strong understanding of modern backend systems (APIs, microservices, databases, cloud infrastructure).
• Experience working in regulated or compliance-heavy environments with strong technical documentation practices.
• Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate across teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with POS systems, eCommerce, or fintech 
• Familiarity with PCI DSS, SOC 2, or financial compliance standards.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Background in distributed systems, event-driven architectures, or real-time transaction processing.

This role is an Onsite Role: This role requires full-time presence at our Oxford, NC office.

Overview:

• Safe operation of all types of industrial material handling equipment including High Rise, Cherry Picker, Counter Balance and Stand-up Trucks.
• Inventory integrity - verification of piece counts, descriptions, lot data and carton count. Must perform at 99.7% accuracy.
• Delivery and retrieval of material from 1,000,000 sq. ft. of Manufacturing and Distribution floor area to the Warehouse, while maintaining engineered work standard requirements of 100% weekly.
• Required to work at heights up to 41 feet while selecting product.

Responsibilities:

• Pick and delivery of materials from various floor locations.
• Picking less than pallet quantities from the warehouse.
• Unloading and loading truck of inventory.
• Processing new receipts, recording new receipt information to the system and sampling.
• Verifying piece and carton counts applying proper labels and accurate documentation.
• Proper handling of hazardous materials, aerosol and flammable products.
• The storing of inventory in warehouse location with accuracy of at least 99.7%.
• React to expedite requests for material at the direction supervisor.
• Adhere to all GMP and Safety requirements.
• Interface with computer terminals, including keying information and utilizing scanning devices for inventory control transactions.
• Preparing accurate documentation on receipts and work methods.

The base pay range for this position is $18.50/ hour; however base pay offered may vary depending on skills, experience, job-related knowledge, and geographic location. Certain positions may also be eligible for short-term incentives as part of total compensation.

We're looking for an Engineering Manager I to lead one of our autonomous feature squads. You'll own the day-to-day engineering leadership of a cross-functional team (1 PM, 1 Designer, 4–5 engineers) responsible for a meaningful area of the Shopmonkey platform. This is not a "project manager with an engineering title" role. You are technical, you are in the code, and you care deeply about how software gets built — not just that it ships. You won't be on the critical path for planned project work, but you'll be deeply involved in guiding your team through every phase of the SDLC: scoping, design, implementation, testing, release, and iteration. Your job is to make your team faster, sharper, and more effective — by coaching, unblocking, and identifying the gaps nobody else sees. You'll also contribute directly to the codebase. Not as a primary feature developer, but as a force multiplier — proactively improving code quality, tackling the work that falls between the cracks, and leading by example when it matters.

Our platform is built on two primary monorepos (backend and frontend) using TypeScript throughout. The stack includes React, Node.js, Next.js, Redux, and Redis on the application side; CockroachDB and ClickHouse for data; Synadia NATS for messaging; and GCP for infrastructure. We use OpenTelemetry and Prometheus for observability, with supporting services in TypeScript and Go. We don't expect expertise across all of these — we're looking for strong fundamentals and the ability to learn quickly.

• Lead a feature squad end-to-end: people, process, and technical direction.
• Own performance management for your engineers — regular 1:1s, growth conversations, honest feedback, and formal reviews.
• Partner closely with your PM and Designer to shape quarterly project plans that balance customer value, technical health, and business impact.

In the United States, the range is typically a salary of $145,000 to $180,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. The range provided is Shopmonkey’s reasonable estimate of the base compensation for this role. The actual amount will be based on job-related and non-discriminatory factors such as location, experience, training, skills, and abilities.
