What you'll do:
As a Vehicle Systems Engineering Intern your key area of responsibility will be to gain access to vehicles both in person and remotely across the world, to reverse engineer vehicular systems. This includes electrical, hardware and communications systems, protocols and legislation. In the past, students have developed software tools in C# and python, built big data dashboards using Google Big Query, reverse engineered vehicles from scratch using our in house CAN analysis software, helped diagnose vehicle issues… the list goes on! You will need to work closely with all development teams across Geotab and implement new initiatives across Big Data, Firmware, Software/ Mobile development and Hardware teams.
To be successful in this role you will be a self-starter with strong written and verbal communication skills and have the ability to quickly understand complex, technical concepts. In addition, the successful candidate will have strong analytical and project management skills with an ability to identify needs, develop effective solutions, and manage projects through completion. The successful candidate will also be able to manage multiple timelines and contrasting priorities to ensure timely results.

- 4- 8 month (8 preferred) work-term beginning September 2026.

How you'll make an impact:
- Reverse engineer vehicular systems including electrical, hardware and communications systems and protocols.
- Document and design methods to collect data from vehicles in a way that is digestible by Geotab's hardware and software teams.
- Support the global reverse engineering vision and process by contributing to the use, design and implementation of the software tooling.
- Use Cloud-based data warehouses (e.g. BigQuery and Google Cloud compute) for automated analysis of vehicle data and identify vehicle support gaps from our products.
- Assist in the product development cycle through proof of concepts and the execution of beta testing.
What you'll bring to the role:
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mechatronics, Electrical, Automotive, Systems Engineering or a related field.
- CAN and CAN bus related experience is an asset.
- General code gurus with a knack for picking up new languages.
- Useful Languages: C#, Python, SQL, MATLAB.
- Other useful software experience: CANalyzer, Simulink.
- Multidisciplinary background.
- Good understanding of vehicle architectures, including hybrid/ electric vehicles.
- Hands-on vehicle experience is an asset (Can you diagnose a problem with your car?)
- Self- starter and results- oriented.
- Strong time management and fantastic communication skills.
- Interest in new mobility technologies, telematics and vehicles.
- Experience or interest in hybrid and electric vehicles and/or green technologies is an asset.
- Have a valid driver’s license with at least 1 year's driving experience.

Basic Qualifications
- BS / MS in Electrical, Electronics, Compute, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent
- Experienced in automotive industry. (TIER1/TIER2 preferred)
- Experience in embedded electrical designs
- Familiar with EMI/EMC design, test and troubleshooting
- Familiar with electrical architecture topologies, Functional Safety (ISO 26262) and other industry standards
- Solid understanding of system/component design
- Familiar with vehicle bus, e.g. ETH/CAN/LIN/LVDS, communication protocols and troubleshooting tools
- Experience in thermal management of ECU embedded electronics
- Ability to participate and lead schematic and layout design reviews
- Good knowledge of state-of-the-art hardware systems, software tools and algorithms for interfaces required for actuators, firmware development, in-vehicle bus architectures, in-vehicle CPU/GPU/NPU computing platforms, image and audio signal processors, connectivity
- Knowledge of ADAS, Infotainment Systems and Zonal Architectures, Software defined vehicles
- Being able to support more than one expertise domain is a plus
- Power Integrity and Signal Integrity experience is a plus
- Experience in an architectural hardware/system role is a plus
Should have experience in:
- Min 2 Yrs. Schematic and Layout design
- Experience in Altium is a big plus
- High complex multilayer layout design
- PCB design rules

What you'll do:
As a Senior Product Manager, Theft Solutions, your key area of responsibility will be identifying and scaling end-to-end products that leverage Geotab's telematics platform, real-time data insights, and predictive analytics to prevent vehicle and asset theft, enable rapid recovery, and reduce insurance costs. You will need to work closely with hardware engineering, software development, data science, commercial teams, and external partners.
To be successful in this role you will be an entrepreneurial self-starter with a tolerance for ambiguity and the ability to iterate rapidly based on customer feedback. In addition, the successful candidate will have strong analytical and project management skills with an ability to translate complex telematics insights into compelling customer value and manage multiple timelines to ensure timely results.
How you'll make an impact:
- Market Discovery & Customer Insights: Conduct comprehensive customer discovery to understand theft vulnerabilities, recovery workflows, and decision criteria across fleet segments (commercial, rental, asset tracking, logistics). Uncover latent needs and willingness to pay for prevention and recovery solutions. Research competing theft prevention and recovery platforms.
- Product Strategy & Positioning: Define the theft solutions product strategy, including feature set, pricing model and market segmentation. Position Geotab as the preferred telematics platform for theft prevention and recovery.
- Feature & Requirement Definition: Translate customer needs into detailed product requirements. Partner with data science to define theft detection algorithms (behavioral anomaly detection, location pattern analysis, risk scoring). Establish monitoring and observability to measure solution efficacy and refine models post-launch.
- Roadmap Management: Own the theft solutions product roadmap, aligning hardware, firmware, cloud, mobile, and business intelligence teams on phased delivery. Identify partnership opportunities to integrate Geotab insights into existing workflows.
- Execution & Delivery: Drive end-to-end product delivery from requirements to launch, managing dependencies, priorities, and release readiness. Track market performance post-launch, including adoption, retention, and revenue contribution, using data to accelerate iteration and close gaps between roadmap intent and customer outcomes.
What you'll bring to the role:
- 7–10 years of Product Management experience, ideally spanning IoT and SaaS environments.
- Demonstrated experience bringing a new product or feature from discovery to market launch with measurable customer adoption.
- Expertise in Telematics & Connected Devices, specifically how GPS, CAN data, and diagnostics are leveraged for predictive analytics and real-time alerting.
- Theft & Loss Prevention knowledge, including vehicle theft mechanisms, recovery workflows, and anti-theft technologies like immobilizers and trackers.
- Strong analytical ability to synthesize data signals (alerts, location history, behavioral patterns) into prioritized insights and user-centric tools.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams and explain technical capabilities to non-technical stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience; background in fleet management or insurance technology is preferred.
