The Role
The Sr. Paraglider & Parachute Engineer will own the final, critical phase of the Outpost mission: the landing. While our deployable heat shield handles the hypersonic deceleration, it is the guided paraglider system that enables us to land payloads with "pinpoint" accuracy rather than just splashing down in the ocean or crashing in the desert. You will lead the design, development, and testing of high-performance paraglider & parachute systems. You will work at the intersection of soft-goods engineering, aerodynamics, and GNC, ensuring that our recovery system can deploy reliably at altitude and navigate to a precise landing zone.

The Role
We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer who will own the mechanical test and qualification process for spacecraft components and vehicles from concept through execution and data analysis. This is a deeply mechanical role with elements of mechatronics, instrumentation, and software for data acquisition, with strong ownership over how our hardware is qualified for flight.
You will design and build test fixtures and portable test racks, define test plans (qualification, acceptance, drop, load, vibration, deployment, etc.), execute tests, and analyze results to inform design and certification decisions. Rather than “pressing the button” on pre‑defined procedures, you will create new tests and infrastructure for new products in a fast‑moving space startup environment.

The Role
The Sr. Mechanical Engineer will serve as the technical authority for the primary and secondary structures of Outpost’s Carryall. This is a role for a veteran structural engineer who has expertise on full-scale flight vehicles whether launch vehicles, satellites, or re-entry capsules. Unlike traditional space vehicle roles where the structure simply needs to survive launch, you are designing for the round trip: launch vibration, the harsh vacuum of orbit, and the extreme thermal and mechanical loads of hypersonic re-entry and landing. The Role
The Principal Thermal Protection System Engineer (TPS) will lead the design, analysis, and implementation of the (TPS) for our Carryall reentry vehicle. This role sits at the intersection of high-temperature materials science, aerothermal analysis, and mechanical design. You will own the primary barrier that allows our vehicles to survive the extreme environments of reentry, turning the "impossible" physics of returning from orbit into a repeatable, reusable operation.
You will work closely with engineering leadership and the mechanical engineering team, to architect a TPS that is robust enough to handle hypersonic heat fluxes and flexible enough to stow and deploy on orbit. About the Role
We’re looking for a Specialist Lab Piping Designer to lead the design of complex fluid and gas distribution systems for our most sensitive R&D, industrial, and high-stakes infrastructure projects. This role sits at the intersection of process engineering and architectural coordination, requiring a designer who understands that a wet lab or a cleanroom is only as functional as the high-purity systems supporting it.

Compensation and Benefits
The base salary range for this role is $90,000–$175,000 annually.

We are seeking a skilled Nuclear Criticality Safety Engineer to join our team and play a critical role in ensuring the safe and effective handling of nuclear materials. The Role
You will own the success of mechanical structures and mechanisms used for a propulsion system that will be the highest-powered electric propulsion system ever flown and unlock new mission concepts and increase our access to deep space. As part of a small multidisciplinary team, your role will involve mechanical design, development, build, test, and analysis of the satellite’s plasma propulsion system and all related hardware. In your first 6 months, you will define product requirements, create initial concepts and trades, perform preliminary and detailed analysis, define development test campaigns, and produce development hardware. In your first year, you will validate your designs through prototype iterations and build and qualify flight hardware. In your first two years you will fly your hardware in space while directly supporting production and integration.

The Role

The Role
As Principal Development Test Engineer, you will own the success of testing mechanical structures, materials, and electromechanical subsystems that will be key to our satellite operation. You will anticipate company needs and stand-up infrastructure to support the core and future business. In your first 6 months, you will define large-scale development test campaigns, design and build test setups, and be hands-on with flight hardware. In your first year, you will validate designs through prototype testing and lead large multidisciplinary test campaigns. The Role

The Role
K2’s plan doesn't stop at satellite buses, however. By operating our own vehicles and manifesting regular rides to space, K2 is uniquely positioned to design, test, and deploy-at-scale ambitious optical payloads in MEO, GEO, cis-lunar, and deep space on unprecedented timelines. The satellite bus is the platform – the payloads are the mission.
There are any number of space-based optical payloads that can generate value here on Earth (ex. forest fire detection, climate and atmospheric monitoring, etc.) and further planetary science in our solar system (ex. hyper-spectral imaging, laser-altimetry, laser propulsion). For active optical payloads, high-power amplifiers and lasers that leverage K2’s on-orbit power capabilities will be a fundamental and enabling technology. Some of these near-term applications require the development of high-power, space-qualified fiber lasers and amplifiers in the near / short-wave infrared (ex. 1064nm) – but the future of atmospheric science and remote sensing will be unlocked by advances in space-qualified lasers in the UV and mid-IR.
As Principal Optical Amplifier / Laser Engineer, you will define how K2 develops, designs, manufactures, tests, and deploys high-power lasers and amplifiers across all active optical payloads. The development timelines, optical power levels, operating environments, and lifetimes we are targeting require meaningful innovation; you will have the resources and full support of K2 to make this possible and help raise the bar for the next generation of space technology companies.

The Role
You will be a core driver of the detailed thermal design of spacecraft subsystems by running thermal analysis at both the component and spacecraft level. You will also be involved in exploring different thermal management strategies and demonstrating them through test campaigns. Our ideal candidate has experience with in-orbit integrated thermal analysis of spacecraft components using both first principles as well analytical models using software tools (such as Thermal Desktop, Ansys IcePak, and Python for automation purposes). The Role
You will own the success of mechanical structures and mechanisms used for a propulsion system that will be the highest-powered electric propulsion system ever flown and unlock new mission concepts and increase our access to deep space. The Role
You will play a critical role in the qualification, implementation and reliability of our satellite’s avionics hardware in the most intense radiation environments of space. You will own the rapid development of component, board and subsystem level radiation test setups that you will execute at national labs across the country, while growing the team’s capabilities through test rack and automation development to keep up with our growing business needs. Through detailed analysis and reporting of your test results, you will inform hardware designers and mission planners of how to confidently operate our satellites to meet our Commercial, National Security and science customer’s needs. You will demonstrate excellent test engineering fundamentals and a high level of attention to detail to ensure our hardware and test capabilities are second to none. The Role
Critical to achieving K2's vision of deploying at scale across MEO, GEO, cis-lunar, and deep space are the solar arrays. The Role
You will own the success of custom tooling and structures that will be key to our satellite production and operations. • Monitor adherence to Owner Controlled Insurance Program (OCIP) requirements and procedures.
• Support to the Program Safety Manager, including but not limited to, attending any required meetings, or providing safety reports/analysis as requested.
• Attend construction meeting with college project team and general contractor. Leading the safety topic (toolbox), report on site observations (Observation Report) and review upcoming construction schedule for hazard preparedness.
• Perform ongoing construction site safety inspections and generate daily safety report for all site visits.
• Submit weekly Project Health Safety and Environmental Observation Report to College Project Manager.
• Perform ongoing review, for completion and accuracy, of contractor safety submittals, JHA, MOP, Fall Protection Plans, Crane Lift Plans, Excavation and Scaffold Erecting Plans, Confined Space Entry and hazard assessment of other high risk operations.
• Perform review of contractor submitted incident reports, participate in safety stand-downs, and prepare and submit lessons learned to Program Safety Manager.
• Perform and document safety orientation with contractor safety representative.
• Monitor adherence to zero tolerance and corrective action policy for workers found not in compliance with the Program’s safety policy.
• Flexibility in schedule and transportation to work at multiple sites based on assigned schedule and duties throughout the greater Los Angeles area.
• Ability to work in fast-paced environment, establish daily work priorities, and perform oversight at multiple active construction projects.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
• 10 years' of commercial construction experience in the US with a General Contractor
• 5 years' experience in California with a Contractor or major subcontractor
• 2 years' experience in construction of educational projects in a campus environment
• Strong experience managing field construction teams on multiple projects.
• Experience on demolition, renovation, and new construction building projects.
• Experience working on OCIP programs.
• All certificates and credentials must be active and current for consideration. Include a current copy of all certifications in resume package for verification.
• Minimum Requirement: Minimum of holding a valid Safety Management Specialist (SMS) certificate or Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) issued by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) or Certified Safety Manager Construction (CSMC) certificate issued by the National Association of Safety Professionals (NASP) - (include copy of certificate in resume package)
• Current First Aid/CPR/AED Certification - include copy in resume package for verification.
• Experience on modernization/renovation projects involving abatement, remediation of hazardous materials, hazardous material waste removal and handling, such as asbestos and lead based paint.
• Strong experience working senior management and field teams on large building programs across multiple sites and locations.
• Experience participating in scheduled construction Meetings with Contractors and Project Managers.
• Strong experience in safety incident reporting and daily construction reporting for multiple projects.
• Ability to effectively communicate with Owner's Construction Management staff and Contractor's Site Management Team.
• Ability to manage, control, and report safety incidents in a timely manner in accordance with OSHA regulations and Owner's Requirements. • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat and other basic software programs used in Construction.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Construction management, safety management, safety engineer or related degree is preferred
• Additional safety/health certifications and credentials as appropriate for this position
• Current 40-Hour HAZWOPER
• Current OSHA 500 (Trainer in Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the Construction Industry) - (include copy of certificate in resume package)
