The Role 

You’ll build the network foundations at the core of our mission that enable the development and operation of high-powered satellites – from our corporate offices, factory floor to test, launch, and on-orbit operations. You will define and evolve the architectures that connect people, systems, and missions to ensure resilient and high-performance networking across production labs, data centers, cloud environments, and global operations. In your first six months, you’ll set the technical direction for how we design, secure, and operate networks that can keep pace with rapid hardware iteration and mission-critical timelines. As we scale your work will become a force multiplier – supporting increasingly powerful spacecraft, more complex missions, and the subsequent infrastructure required to deliver a new class of satellite technology. The networks you build will be foundational to how K2 Space designs, tests, launches, and operates the most capable satellites in the industry. 

Responsibilities 

• Serve as the principal technical authority for enterprise networking, defining long-term network architecture and strategy aligned with business and security objectives 

• Architect, design, and govern large-scale, highly available, and secure network environments across data centers, cloud, hybrid, and global WANs 

• Own network reference architectures, standards, and design patterns, ensuring scalability, resiliency, performance, and operational consistency 

• Lead the design and execution of complex initiatives such as data center modernization, cloud networking transformations, SD-WAN deployments, and zero-trust network architectures

The Role

The Role 

The Facilities Engineer is responsible for the performance, reliability, and lifecycle management of facility assets and infrastructure. This role focuses on optimizing asset value through data-driven maintenance strategies, capital planning, and continuous improvement of building systems. The Facilities Engineer ensures that all physical assets operate safely, efficiently, and in alignment with long-term operational and financial objectives.  

Responsibilities 

• Develop and maintain a comprehensive asset registry for all facility systems and equipment

The Role 

As an Integration & Test Engineer, you’ll be the last line of defense for all operations when the satellite is powered. Acting as a satellite controller, you’ll be in the driver’s seat of the satellite; all satellite activities go through you. Using a first principles approach, you’ll be responsible for defining test plans that simulate all modes of flight, dictating what the vehicle needs to do, when, why, and how often. Your work will span most technical disciplines at the company and will require you to build consensus from multiple teams. Initial ground and on-orbit operations will be more manual but quickly grow into fully automated activities. As you build your knowledge of the vehicle through manual procedures and vehicle control, you’ll be positioned to take the next step with the Vehicle Operations team towards a fully automated future.   

Responsibilities

The Role 

The materials that go into K2's solar arrays — from module interconnects and adhesive systems to cover glass coatings and substrate composites — directly determine how much power they produce, how long they last, and how fast we can build them. Collaborating across the engineering and production teams, you will own the success of the materials selections and their implementations that will be key to our successful satellite operation. 

You will define how K2 selects, qualifies, and scales materials and processes for its solar array systems and other subsystems. The operating environments, mission lifetimes, and production rates we are pursuing demand meaningful impact in how our materials are characterized, qualified, and manufactured. You will own the success of implementation of material systems in the development while scaling of K2’s solar array design. 

Responsibilities 

• Serve as a Responsible M&P engineer for our satellite bus structures, mechanisms, thermal, electrical, and solar array systems, including adhesives, sealants, cover glass and coatings 
• Partner with experienced M&P engineers to help define the strategy and qualification philosophy for satellite materials spanning LEO to deep space mission environments 
• Research, trade, and select conventional and novel materials and processes for various novel applications   
• Define qualification criteria, test envelopes, and characterization campaigns that establish material performance margins across radiation, thermal cycling, mechanical, and plasma environments 
• Lead design reviews, continually own system-level M&P deliverables, and drive development schedules with accurate projections looking 12+ months ahead 
• Collaborate with solar, structures/mechanisms, thermal, avionics, and production teams to define material-driven requirements, integrated qualification/acceptance testing, and on-orbit data review 
• Lead failure analysis and root cause investigations for material-related anomalies, establishing corrective action processes that feed back into design and production 
• Evaluate, qualify, and manage material suppliers, including incoming inspection criteria, lot acceptance requirements, and supply chain risk mitigation 
• Author, implement, and maintain M&P requirements, material and process specifications, technical specifications, and engineering work standards related to solar array materials and others used on throughout the spacecraft 

Qualifications 

• Bachelor's degree in materials science, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, aerospace engineering, or a related technical discipline 
• 2+ years of experience in materials and process engineering, with demonstrated depth in material selection, characterization, qualification, and production-scale process development 
• Demonstrated track record of material and process decisions that have been validated through flight or equivalent high-reliability hardware programs

The Role 

The processes that go into developing K2's solar arrays — from module interconnects and adhesive systems to cover glass coatings and substrate composites — directly determine how much power they produce, how long they last, and how fast we can build them. Getting the process engineering right is not a support function here; it is on the critical path. 

You will develop, qualify, and optimize manufacturing processes for K2's solar array systems. The operating environments, mission lifetimes, and production rates we are pursuing demand meaningful impact in how our materials are characterized, qualified, and manufactured. You will own the execution of process development for material systems and novel manufacturing processes as we scale K2's solar array design into production. 

Responsibilities 

• Responsible for the development, qualification, and production-scale optimization of K2 solar array processes — including solar module interconnects, bonding, sintering, lamination, deposition, coating, bonding, mechanism joints, and surface treatment

The Role 

You’ll work closely with Electrical Engineers to design critical electronics across all K2 Space satellites, ranging from kW-scale power converters to high-performance flight computers. In your first six months, you will complete design of your first PCBAs to be tested and integrated in flight hardware. In your first year you will expand your work to develop the tools to support multiple flight designs. The Role 

The software team at K2 builds software across the stack, from gateware & micro firmware to high level satellite control to Ground Software and all the associated testing, and we’re looking for an SDET who shares our belief that test infrastructure is a first-class engineering discipline. You will be embedded directly within the flight software team, working shoulder-to-shoulder with the engineers writing the code that flies our spacecraft owning the automation frameworks, test tooling, and HIL infrastructure that make rapid, confident software deployment possible. 

This role is not a QA function. You will be a builder. In your first 6 months, you will design and ship core test automation frameworks and integrate them into our CI/CD pipelines. In your first year, you will own end-to-end test coverage across multiple spacecraft subsystems and lead HIL testing campaigns alongside flight software engineers, proving the software is ready to go to space. In your first two years, you will have operated your test systems against hardware that has been launched to orbit.

As an Integration Technician you will support Mega Class satellite integration across the full vehicle lifecycle, from primary structure and harness routing through propulsion system proof and leak testing, cleanroom payload integration, and end-of-line functional testing. The ideal candidate is a versatile, hands-on technician comfortable working across mechanical, electrical, and fluid systems in a fast-paced environment.  

Responsibilities 

• Perform hands-on assembly of the primary and secondary structure, including sheet metal panels, machined parts, and mechanisms 

• Route, install, secure, and inspect avionics and power harnesses on integrated vehicles 

• Install electro-mechanical components including mechanisms, avionics, power, and propulsion hardware

The Role 

As a Mission Payload Engineer within National Security Programs, you’ll serve as the primary technical interface between K2 Space, customers, and partners as we integrate advanced payload capabilities onto K2’s satellite bus platform. You’ll support the entire program lifecycle – from early proposal phases through spacecraft design, development, integration, test, and on-orbit operations.  

In this role, you will work closely with Program Managers and key engineering disciplines to define and negotiate payload interfaces (mechanical, data and software, power, mission, etc.) and develop integration and test plans that ensure successful mission execution.  You will also represent K2 Space in critical customer engagements, design reviews, and verification milestones. 

The ideal candidate has strong multi-disciplinary engineering skills, hands-on experience, and excellent communication abilities to effectively collaborate with National Security customers and stakeholders.

The Role 

As a Senior Software Engineer on our Ground Software team, you are responsible for creating the software that is used to build, test, and fly our satellites and customer payloads. The Role

The Role 

From your very first day, you’ll be hands-on with real spacecraft – leading integrated test campaigns, mastering the satellite bus, and working with world-class RE teams to validate system health. As we scale our fleet, you’ll become an architect of on-orbit operations: designing the playbooks, tools, and systems needed to fly dozens, then hundreds, of satellites. K2 Space is seeking a COMSEC Manager to support our comprehensive security program and ensure compliance with DOW and Intelligence Community security requirements. 

This is a high-impact role for a self-motivated individual who can collaborate with government security stakeholders, safeguard classified information across multiple sensitivity levels, and drive a culture of security awareness at K2. The position provides day-to-day support for Collateral, Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), and Special Access Program (SAP) activities. 

The COMSEC Manager must be well-versed in COMSEC requirements and procedures, including the acquisition, maintenance, operations, and disposition of COMSEC equipment. As our COMSEC Manager, you would serve as the Network Designer Lead, supporting the networks and local area networks (LANs) of DOW and Intelligence Community customers across multiple security domains, with a focus on COMSEC account management and cryptologic duties, including the operation and maintenance of encryption devices. You would also be responsible for overseeing the communications security program and ensuring the protection of sensitive information transmitted across network-connected and point-to-point communications systems.

The Role 

You will own the success of component and subsystem testing across structural, thermal, fluid, dynamic, and electromechanical systems. The Role

The Role

The software team at K2 strives to blur the lines between the various types of software development and encourages team members to get into parts of the stack they may not otherwise have experience with. This spectrum includes GNC algorithms (Rust, C++), application software on flight computers (Rust, C++), to embedded software on microcrontrollers (Rust, C++),to operating systems (Rust, C++, C), to HDL programming (VHDL, SystemVerilog), to test systems (Python), and many things inbetween. By doing this, we create a stronger team with more capable engineers. For now, this does not include front-end, artificial intelligence, or machine learning development.

K2 Space is seeking a Senior Industrial Security Specialist to support and help lead our comprehensive security program, ensuring compliance with DOW and Intelligence Community security requirements. You will oversee all aspects of our security program, including Personnel Security, Physical Security, Information Security, and Cybersecurity. These disciplines include maintenance of accreditations, co-use and joint-use agreements, compartmented areas, Personnel Security Clearances (PCLs), the Communications Security (COMSEC) program, and the security of our Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) and classified production facility.

You will be a core driver of the detailed thermal design of spacecraft subsystems by running thermal analysis at both the component and spacecraft level. You will also be involved in exploring different thermal management strategies and demonstrating them through test campaigns. • Experience with selection, sizing, and design of thermal control hardware including heat pipes, heaters, stickers, OSR, thermal straps, thermal paints, tapes, MLI, TEC

You’ll help safeguard the technology and teams building a new class of high-powered satellites. You’ll be deeply hands-on – deploying, operating, and refining security controls across identity, endpoints, networks, and cloud platforms that support fast-moving engineering and mission operations. Responsibilities 

• Implement, operate, and maintain security controls across corporate IT environments, including identity and access management, endpoint security, network security, SaaS platforms, and cloud services 
• Serve as a hands-on security engineer supporting day-to-day operations, investigations, and incident response activities 
• Configure and manage identity systems, including user access, role-based controls, conditional access policies, and authentication mechanisms 
• Deploy and support endpoint security tooling such as MDM, EDR, and device compliance controls across macOS, Windows, and Linux environments 
• Partner with network and IT teams to implement and maintain network security controls, including firewall rules, segmentation, and secure remote access 
• Monitor security alerts and logs, investigate suspicious activity, and respond to security incidents, including containment and remediation 
• Support vulnerability management activities, including scanning, prioritization, and remediation tracking in collaboration with IT and engineering teams 
• Assist with security architecture initiatives by implementing designs and providing operational feedback to inform future improvements 
• Contribute to security automation and tooling improvements to increase detection, response speed, and operational efficiency

Qualifications 

• 5+ years of experience in security operations or engineering roles preferably in a fast-paced startup or technology environment 
• 2+ years of development experience with any modern programming language (including but not limited to Python, C++, Rust, Go) in lieu of a degree; OR a bachelor’s degree in security engineering, cyber security, computer science, engineering, math, or other STEM discipline 
• Knowledge of operating systems, current equipment and technologies, networking, security best practices, and system performance monitoring tools 
• Comfortable working with mission critical and sensitive systems, with a sense of urgency appropriate with responsibilities 
• Due to the high visibility of this position, excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills

The Role 

We are seeking a Senior ASIC Design Verification Engineer whose role will be to verify the functionality, performance, and robustness of our custom silicon designs. You will help define the verification approach, contribute to methodology, and work closely with architecture, RTL design, DFT, firmware, physical design, and silicon validation engineers. This is a hands-on role with high ownership, deep technical engagement, and the opportunity to shape first-generation silicon. 

Responsibilities 

• Develop and execute verification plans for block-level, subsystem-level, and full-chip environments. Build SystemVerilog/UVM test benches, including agents, monitors, scoreboards, checkers, and coverage models.
• Write SystemVerilog Assertions (SVA) and integrate formal verification where appropriate.
• Drive constrained-random and directed testing strategies to validate functionality, corner cases, and stress scenarios.
• Run simulations, triage failures, drive root-cause analysis, and collaborate with RTL designers to resolve issues.
• Implement and maintain functional coverage, code coverage, assertion coverage, and ensure coverage closure for sign-off.
• Manage regression testing, simulation farms, and CI pipelines to ensure high test throughput and fast debug iterations.
• Participate in design reviews, microarchitecture discussions, and influence design-for-verification (DFV) best practices.
• Work closely with architecture, RTL design, DFT, firmware, physical design, and silicon validation engineers to ensure end-to-end coverage and test.
• Support silicon bring-up and post-silicon validation through test reuse, diagnostics, and debug analysis.
• Participate in ASIC team interviews.
• Contribute to advancement of DV methodologies and improvements.
• Engage external IP providers and verification partners when needed. 

Qualifications 

• B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in ASIC/SoC verification.
• Solid understanding of SystemVerilog, digital logic, RTL design, and hardware verification flows.
• Proficiency with a simulation (VCS, Xcelium, Questa), waveform debug (Verdi, SimVision), coverage tool, and scripting languages (ex: Python, Perl, TCL).
• Experience with testplanning, UVM-based testbench development, constrained-random testing, functional coverage, and SystemVerilog assertions.
• Experience with regression management, coverage analysis, revision control (Git), and CI/CD automation.
• Understanding of several industry-standard interfaces (ex: APB/AHB/AXI).
• Familiarity with embedded processor-based designs and firmware/bare metal coding (ex: C, C++). 

Nice to Have

• Experience with developing and integrating reference models.
• Understanding of low power verification.
• Familiarity with gate-level simulation and analog behavioral models.
• Involvement in post-silicon validation planning and execution.
• Experience working in cross-functional, geographically distributed teams.
• Experience in space, telecom, or RF/digital mixed systems is a plus.

The Role 

Partnering with design engineers early on in the process, you will ensure manufacturability, build the first prototype, design the build flow and fixturing, and finalize the process for transition to production. You will test out new techniques for manufacturing large satellite structures, mechanisms, and integrated electronics systems. In your first 6 months you will own manufacturing development for integrated avionics systems; define production-ready build flows, capacity models, and tooling strategies; and drive cross-functional DFM improvements that materially reduce risk, cost, or cycle time. In your first year you will lead implementation of advanced manufacturing techniques on flight hardware and transition prototype processes into stable, rate-capable production systems.
