We are looking for a Principal Software Engineer to join one of our high-impact engineering squads. In this role, you will serve as a technical leader and be key in designing complex systems, driving architectural decisions, mentoring engineers, and delivering high-quality software across our cloud-native Evolution DMS platform. You will work at the intersection of scale, performance, and user impact, tackling some of the hardest problems in our stack.

What You'll Do

• Lead technical design and architecture for complex, cross-functional features — evaluating trade-offs, defining patterns, and ensuring solutions are scalable, maintainable, and performant across a large enterprise-grade codebase.
• Build and own platform-level frameworks used by other engineering squads — including authentication/authorization systems, API development tooling, webhook infrastructure, messaging pipelines, AI integrations, and CI/CD tooling.

• Champion performance and reliability — proactively identify and resolve bottlenecks, design for failure, and implement resilience patterns (circuit breakers, caching strategies, backoff/retry) across our service integrations.
• Drive cloud infrastructure decisions on AWS — including serverless architecture (Lambda, API Gateway), container orchestration (EKS), messaging (SNS/SQS, RabbitMQ), and data services (RDS PostgreSQL, ElastiCache/Redis, DynamoDB).
• Manage and evolve CI/CD pipelines — automating build, test, and deployment processes using GitLab CI, Gradle, Terraform, and Serverless Framework to enable rapid, consistent releases across environments.
• Lead incident response and root cause analysis for high-severity production issues, translating findings into actionable architectural improvements.
• Contribute to infrastructure as code using Terraform, supporting reproducible, version-controlled AWS environment provisioning.
• Maintain and improve technical documentation in Confluence, ensuring architectural decisions, patterns, and runbooks are accessible and up to date.
• Evaluate and adopt emerging technologies — including AI/ML tooling — making recommendations that align with long-term platform direction.

What You'll Have

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field with 7+ years of professional software engineering experience; or equivalent experience in lieu of a degree.
• Deep expertise in Java / Kotlin / Groovy and the Jakarta EE ecosystem — including JPA, Wildfly/JBoss, or Spring — with a strong command of object-oriented and functional design principles.
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript and JavaScript — including Node.js and modern backend frameworks such as NestJS — with the ability to contribute across the full stack.
• Demonstrated ability to architect and deliver distributed, cloud-native systems at scale — including microservices, event-driven architectures, and RESTful API design.
• Integrate AI-assisted development tools (such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, or equivalent) into day-to-day engineering workflows — including code generation, automated code review, test authoring, and documentation — to improve individual and team productivity without compromising code quality or security standards.
• Extensive hands-on experience with AWS — specifically Lambda, API Gateway, CloudFront, S3, SNS, SQS, EKS, ElastiCache, and DynamoDB — and a track record of deploying and operating production workloads in cloud environments.
• Advanced proficiency with PostgreSQL and other data stores (Redis/Valkey, MongoDB) — including query optimization, indexing strategies, and schema design.
• Proven experience designing and implementing authentication and authorization systems — including OAuth 2.0, OIDC, and integration with identity providers such as Okta and FusionAuth.
• Proficiency with containerization and orchestration — Docker and Kubernetes/EKS — at a production operations level.
• Demonstrated experience leading or contributing to large-scale migrations — including legacy system rewrites, on-prem to cloud migrations, or major platform re-architectures.
• Solid understanding of messaging and event-driven systems — RabbitMQ, SNS/SQS, and ETCD-backed configuration management.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to influence technical direction across teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• AWS Certification (Cloud Practitioner, Solutions Architect, or AI Practitioner) strongly preferred.
• Experience on a developer platform or framework team — building shared tooling, libraries, and infrastructure that other engineering squads build on top of.

• Guide our new customers through their initial account configurations and ensure proper setup of their Canopy accounts.
• Provide world-class onboarding and training experiences in the form of feature-specific training calls, screen shares, and email communications that help customers achieve value from our software right out of the gate.

• Guide our new customers through their initial account configurations and ensure proper setup of their Canopy accounts

The Opportunity

We are hiring a Strategic Partnership Director to own and grow Canopy's relationships with private equity firms that acquire and operate accounting firm portfolios. This is a net-new, high-impact role at the intersection of enterprise sales, channel strategy, and the rapidly evolving PE-backed accounting landscape.

Private equity has fundamentally reshaped the accounting industry — over 250 of the top 750 CPA firms in the U.S. now operate under a PE platform, and deal activity is accelerating into 2026. Canopy is uniquely positioned to become the practice management standard across these consolidated portfolios. This role exists to make that happen.

You'll build relationships at the PE firm level, with operating partners, portfolio operations teams, and deal professionals to drive standardized Canopy adoption across every firm in their portfolio. When a PE group acquires a new accounting firm, your job is to make sure Canopy is the first software decision they make.

Travel Requirements: This individual will travel at least once per month.

This is a hybrid position in South Jordan, Utah (M, W, F in-office) or fully remote for the right candidate.

What You’ll Do

• Build and manage a pipeline of PE firms actively acquiring or operating accounting firm portfolios, targeting firms across all tiers from large platforms to regional roll-ups.
• Develop and close enterprise partnership agreements that establish Canopy as the preferred or mandated practice management platform across a PE group's accounting portfolio.
• Own the full partnership lifecycle from initial outreach and relationship-building with operating partners, to deal structuring, onboarding coordination, and ongoing expansion.
• Collaborate with Canopy's sales, customer success, and product teams to build a repeatable PE partnership motion: playbooks, onboarding materials, co-sell resources, and portfolio deployment frameworks.
• Serve as the internal voice of the PE channel, bringing market intelligence on portfolio firm needs, competitive dynamics, and technology consolidation trends back to the product and go-to-market teams.
• Track and report on partnership pipeline, ARR influenced, portfolio penetration rates, and expansion metrics.
• Report on metrics to the executive team on how the partnership program is progressing.

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years of experience in enterprise sales, strategic partnerships, or business development in a SaaS or professional services technology company.
• Demonstrated experience selling into or partnering with Private Equity or Venture Capital firms, accounting firms, or professional services organizations.
• Proven ability to navigate complex, multi-stakeholder deals. Comfortable working with operating partners, C-suite executives, and portfolio firm leadership simultaneously.
• Strong commercial instincts: you can structure a deal, negotiate terms, and close.
• Exceptional communication and executive presence; you represent Canopy credibly in boardrooms and partner conversations.
• Self-directed and entrepreneurial, this is a greenfield motion and you'll be building the playbook, not inheriting one.

• Check your calendar, Slack, and email daily for updates from the team and/or sessions booked. 
• Communicate via email and phone to support customers in getting professional development sessions scheduled. 
• Maintain pre and post session documentation and notes in designated systems, including sending follow up resources to customers via email.
• Maintain a strong knowledge of the latest features in Seesaw as well as support resources that may need to be provided to customers.
• Raise any customer issues that arise with speed and urgency, helping to resolve and communicate back to the customer, as needed.

Prerequisites (Requirements):

• 3+ years of primary teaching experience
• Prior experience with educator coaching and/or delivering professional development a plus

• Knowledge of Seesaw and/or use of Seesaw in the classroom strongly preferred
• Knowledge of Little Thinking Minds (LTM) and/or use of LTM in the classroom strongly preferred

• Exceptional presentation skills

• Highly organized, flexible, able to think critically, and a quick learner
• Positive, upbeat, proactive, and professional attitude. Collaborative teammate who is values-driven and supportive
• Tech-savvy and comfortable using technology to present and demonstrate
• Ability to travel if needed - especially in peak season 
• Willing to work flexible schedule when customer demands require it (evening, early morning, as needed)
• Willingness and ability to travel throughout the MENA region is preferred
• Comfortable with Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides)

Compensation:

We offer competitive virtual per session and daily onsite rates for training delivery and preparation.

Reimbursement:

When required, travel and lodging is reimbursed within 15 days of invoice submission.
