The NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCI Agency) is NATO’s principal C3 capability deliverer and CIS service provider. It provides, maintains and defends the NATO enterprise-wide information technology infrastructure to enable Allies to consult together under Article IV, and, when required, stand together in the face of attack under Article V.

To provide these critical services, in the modern evolving dynamic environment the NCI Agency needs to build and maintain high performance-engaged workforce. The NCI Agency workforce strategically consists of three major categorise's: NATO International Civilians (NIC)'s, Military (Mil), and Interim Workforce Consultants (IWC)'s. Role Duties and Responsibilities

• Support the lead Project Manager during the final development and pre-launch phase, including coordination with the development team and stakeholders;
• Assist in tracking timelines, deliverables and risks during the run-up to launch;

As a Deployed Engineer, you are the guiding force behind bringing Collibra's product and vision to customers and prospects. Engineers establish knowledgeable and trusted relationships from day one and serve as thoughtful technical advisors.

This is a hybrid role based in our Brussels office. Our hybrid model means you’ll work from the office at least two days each week. This setup helps us stay connected, work more closely together, and keep making progress as a team.

Forward Deployed Engineer at Collibra are responsible for

• Own end-to-end technical delivery of Unstructured AI deployments — from first prototype to stable production across enterprise environments.
• Build and scale full-stack systems that process and enrich large volumes of unstructured content (PDFs, contracts, reports, and other document types).
• Embed closely with customer and field teams to understand their metadata, governance, and security needs - guiding how Unstructured AI integrates into their broader Collibra stack.
• Scope work, sequence delivery, and remove blockers early to ensure fast iteration cycles between product, research, and deployment teams.
• Balance scope, speed, and quality - making clear trade-offs to keep pilots moving and convert them into production rollouts.
• Codify repeatable patterns from customer projects into reusable connectors, enrichment modules, or playbooks that accelerate future deployments.
• Feed field insights back to Product and Research, identifying opportunities to improve product experience.
• Keep cross-functional teams aligned through clear communication, prioritization, and follow-through.

You have

• Shipped complex systems under ambiguity - balancing speed and precision in real customer environments.
• Written and reviewed production-grade code across backend (Python, FastAPI).
• Built or deployed document-processing systems and are comfortable with CI/CD, monitoring, and debugging tools.
• 2+ years of software engineering or technical deployment experience,  ideally involving enterprise integrations, AI data processing, or customer-facing delivery.
• Strong proficiency in Python (data processing, API development, and integrations).
• Proven ability to deliver production-grade systems that process large-scale unstructured data (PDFs, text, documents).
• Solid understanding of data pipelines, microservice architecture, and API design.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure), Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and containerization (Docker / Kubernetes).
• Experience with LLM-based or AI-driven enrichment models (classification, extraction, deduplication, PII detection).
• Familiar with metadata systems, data cataloging, or document AI workflows.
• Background in data governance, sensitive data detection, or enterprise integrations (Collibra, Databricks, Snowflake, etc.).
• A track record of codifying repeatable deployment patterns into tools, SDKs, or frameworks.
• Knowledge of security, compliance, and model evaluation best practices.
• A bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent related working experience.
• You must have work authorization to work in Brussels.

Within your first month, you will…

• Develop a deep understanding of how enterprises manage and transform unstructured data, including document pipelines, metadata systems, and retrieval architectures.
• Partner closely with former YC founders and senior product leadership to see how we run a fast, startup-style execution motion inside a scaled organization. You will then ship your first end-to-end feature across the stack (backend, infrastructure, and UI), directly improving the product used by real customers.

Within your third month, you will…

• Deploy the product and your features in multiple Fortune 500 customer environments, often working inside the customer’s cloud and data perimeter. You will serve as the connective tissue between GTM, Product, Engineering, and Customer teams, translating customer feedback into product direction and execution plans.

Within your sixth month, you will…

• Become an expert in context engineering, designing how data, metadata, and domain knowledge flow into AI systems to maximize reliability, relevance, and decision quality.
• Independently lead complex deployments, transforming unstructured and structured data to support AI-driven decision making at enterprise scale. The Axon SkyHero Firmware team specifically owns the “Lower Middleware” layers on a very powerful Embedded Linux System-on-Chip and the Flight Controller. “Lower Middleware” in this sense consists of high performance, low latency, user-space daemons on a robotics-optimized system bus. All firmware aspects related to “Flying” are handled by this team, and this team collaborates very closely with an adjacent team of Controls and Vision Engineers. This team also collaborates very closely with Platform Board Support Package (BSP), Camera Imaging, and “Upper Middleware” teams, and hardware engineering. Rust is the preferred language, but C/C++ is also used. Python is used for scripting and testing.

As a strong, senior engineer - either level 1 or level 2 senior engineer - on the SkyHero Firmware team, you’ll be responsible for developing and architecting a diverse set of robotics-based features related to “Flying” and actively helping Controls Engineers “Tune” the Drone. You’ll promote best practices for software testing. You’ll be collaborating on a series of very deep algorithms that provides “Advanced Flying and Maneuvering” capabilities, among other innovations that fuse a large number of sensors, actuators and/or motors. What You Bring

We also prioritize candidates who demonstrates having shipped a product from start to finish; and, sticking with the product post-release so as to have learned from its in-market performance.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Robotics or equivalent
• Minimum 7+ years of industry experience building commercial products
• Minimum 7+ years experience with C/C++, Python and/or other systems programming languages such as Rust
• Demonstrated track record of bringing commercial devices to the market
• Experience with performant inter-process communication
• Strong experience with Userspace Linux Kernel development and performance optimization
• Strong understanding of Systems Architecture, with the ability to implement complex, multi-device, interrelated systems
• Strong understanding of Operating Systems, Concurrency and Networking concepts
• Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and QA processes
• Solid Software Engineering background (algorithms, data structures)
• Experience with Sensor peripherals (accelerometers, time-of-flight, magnetometer, etc.) and Cameras

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent
• 5+ years of industry-leading electronics design experience with emphasis on designing densely populated, tightly packaged, battery-powered embedded systems.
• A passion and curiosity for designing Embedded Electronics systems
• Comfortable using test equipment such as DMM, oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer
• Excellent hands-on skills: able to assemble board prototypes with lab equipment
• Excellent all-round electronics knowledge, from analog to digital
• Proficient doing multi-layer PCB layouts and/or rigid-flex designs
• Awareness of EMC and signal integrity issues and best practices as they relate to PCB design
• Knowledge of at least one EDA package: Altium Designer and/or Cadence OrCAD

The GNC team is responsible for the software stack that makes these robots fly, communicate, and operate reliably. As a Senior Robotics Software Engineer I on the GNC team, you'll be a core contributor to this stack. You'll improve the reliability of existing systems and help lay the software foundations for future autonomy capabilities.

This is a software engineering role first — you'll bring robotics domain knowledge and apply it to building a robust, well-architected platform.
