Senior Engineer I, Software Engineering - Factory Automation
As part of ASM’s Software Engineering team, you’ll develop advanced control software that drives the most sophisticated semiconductor equipment in the world. Your work will directly impact robotics, gas flow systems, and temperature control hardware—delivering real-time results in chip manufacturing. Based in Phoenix, you’ll collaborate globally and help shape the future of semiconductor automation and factory integration.
What you will be working on:
- Design and develop factory automation features on the equipment side, including:
- Remote command execution
- Host-driven FOUP handling and workflow integration
- Recipe management from host systems
- Factory Automation (FA) ID management
- Build and enhance supervisor-layer software infrastructure, working closely with GUI and device control teams
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to factory automation and system integration, both during development and in production environments
- Collaborate with customer station controller teams to ensure seamless host-to-equipment communication
- Support feature validation and testing (e.g., DLab) and participate in on-tool debugging and issue resolution when needed
What we are looking for:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (Master’s preferred)
- Strong programming experience in C#
- 5+ years of professional software development experience
- Experience in the semiconductor or manufacturing automation industry
- Hands-on experience with factory automation systems and equipment integration
- Familiarity with industry standards such as:

As a Software Support Engineer, you will make an impact by investigating, recreating, and troubleshooting software issues to resolution as reported by our customers.
Responsibilities:
- Gather information to investigate the issue, reproduce it, determine the root cause, and recommend corrective actions.
- Troubleshoot and resolve software issues, including embedded software for control systems. Able to triage mechanical, electrical, and software bugs.
- Responsible for managing escalation calls with field support engineers
- Create bug reports for the developer to use when fixing the bug.
- Work with QA to add replicated bugs to the regression.
- Travel to customer sites to support installations, training, and troubleshooting of ASM products.
- Talking to the account team and GPS group (not directly with the customer) when investigating reported issues.

Senior Solution Sales Engineer -
Position Description:
We believe Solutions Engineers at Okta are involved in all stages of the customer’s development lifecycle and are experienced using presentations, email, phone and social media to connect with customers. What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or related field) with 7+ years of industry experience, or Master’s degree with 4+ years, or PhD with 3+ years of relevant experience
- Strong software development expertise in C++ and/or C#
- Solid understanding of multi-threaded applications
- Experience working with software documentation, specifications, and APIs
- Good knowledge of software memory architecture and debugging

We are seeking an experienced Software Engineering Manager to lead development efforts for complex semiconductor processing equipment and related control systems. This role requires strong hands-on technical expertise, leadership capability, and the ability to drive high‑quality software delivery across global, cross‑functional teams. You will manage a team of software engineers (local/remote), define strategy and roadmaps, and ensure the successful execution of software development for multiple product lines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a software engineering team of roughly 5–10 engineers
- Strengthen team capability through cross‑training, mentorship, and structured development
- Lead mid‑size development projects (up to 5 engineers per team)
- Define and execute software development plans for assigned product lines
- Develop and maintain product software roadmaps
- Balance project portfolios to maximize technical and business impact
- Drive standardization of development processes, tools, KPIs, and best practices
- Ensure alignment and collaboration with global Software Directors, Product Management, Process Engineering, Platform Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and other stakeholders
- Maintain a strong partnership with software quality teams to ensure first‑time‑right, high‑quality releases
- Measure and maintain internal customer satisfaction
- Provide mentorship to junior engineers and contribute to department‑level process improvements
- Design, develop, and troubleshoot software for semiconductor equipment control systems
- Modify and improve existing software architectures
- Write, review, and maintain system specifications, software design documents, and test plans
- Investigate internal/external issues, conduct root‑cause analysis, and propose effective solutions
- Evaluate and recommend new tools and technologies for department adoption
- Participate in system‑level design discussions
- Support marketing with technical inputs for customer proposals and product specifications
- Provide onsite support as needed, including installations, training, and troubleshooting
- Create accurate development schedules and deliver to commitments
- Support department operations through policy creation, process updates, and continuous improvement initiatives
Education
- BS degree in Computer Science or related field with 10+ years of relevant experience.
- Advanced technical degree preferred.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
Experience Requirements
- 10+ years of software development experience, including:
- C++, C#, Python
- Windows application development
- Multi‑threaded and real‑time systems
- Device drivers or interrupt‑driven software
- Machine control systems in semiconductor or industrial automation environments
- Strong proficiency in C/C++/.NET
- Experience with software engineering tools including debuggers, source control, build systems, and text editors
- Ability to read, analyze, and translate existing code

Job's Mission:
As a Software Quality Assurance Engineer at ASM, you will ensure the reliability and effectiveness of our software that drives cutting-edge semiconductor processing equipment. You’ll work on testing and qualifying software, streamlining QA processes to align with CI/CD development, and collaborating with talented global teams. Your contributions will directly impact the functionality and performance of advanced hardware in the semiconductor industry.
What you will be working on:
- Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, document, and improve software test suites.
- Perform both manual and automated testing in simulation environments and on physical semiconductor manufacturing equipment.
- Execute and analyze the functionality of engineering designs compared to intended outcomes, providing valuable feedback.
- Automate, streamline, and maintain QA processes to integrate seamlessly with CI/CD development workflows.
- Develop and implement quality standards, methods, and procedures to enhance existing business processes.
- Work closely with Process Engineering teams to test systems, validate engineering designs, and identify quality improvements.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with senior leadership and stakeholders.

At ASM, the Software Engineering team works on delivering software that has immediate, tangible results visible in the operation of semiconductor processing equipment hardware. Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain and improve software for our semiconductor manufacturing equipment
- Developing for Windows and Windows Real-time Operating Systems
- Troubleshoot and resolve computer software issues, including real-time software control systems
- Able to triage mechanical, electrical and software bugs
- Responsible to manage escalation calls with field support engineers and customers at a national and global level
- Work with QA / Support team to add replicated bugs to regression
- Author, revise, and review system specifications, software designs, test plans, and other software documentation.
- Investigate both internal and external inquiries, questions and problem reports. Offer problem analysis, solutions, or alternatives as a result of these investigations.
- Evaluate software engineering tools.
- Participate in system design teams.
- Travel to customer sites to support installations, training, and troubleshooting of ASM products.
- Develop schedules for software development efforts.
- Provide engineering solutions to resolve all software issues
- Evaluating new software and hardware tools for possible department use
Minimum Qualifications
- Strong software development skills in C++
- 1+ years’ experience as a generalist or mid-stack software development with a Bachelor's degree OR recently graduated with Masters degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Computer Systems
- Graduating in Fall 2025 or graduated within the past two years
- 0–2 years of professional work experience
