Professional Summary
We are seeking a dependable Structural Steel Material Handler to support daily operations in both the production shop and outdoor yard. This position requires a versatile individual who is comfortable operating material handling equipment, moving structural steel, assisting with shipping activities, and supporting multiple departments as production needs change. The ideal candidate has experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment and can safely operate heavy equipment while maintaining a strong commitment to quality and workplace safety.
Responsibilities
Move, stage, and organize structural steel materials throughout the facility and yard.
Safely operate overhead cranes to transport steel products and materials.
Operate forklifts, telehandlers/Pettibone equipment, and other material handling equipment.
Assist with trailer loading, unloading, and yard organization.
Jockey trailers and prepare materials for shipping or production.
Support skidding operations and material movement throughout the facility.
Operate production equipment as needed to assist manufacturing activities.
Clean parts and materials to ensure they are ready for production or shipment.
Assist with inventory control by tracking materials and supplies.
Follow all company safety procedures and equipment operating guidelines.
Provide support to multiple departments to help maintain production efficiency.
Maintain reliable attendance and contribute to a positive team environment.
Qualifications
Experience operating overhead cranes is required.
Experience operating telehandlers/Pettibone equipment is required.
Previous material handling, warehouse, or industrial experience preferred.
Experience working with structural steel is preferred.
Ability to safely operate forklifts and other material handling equipment.
Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to multitask and adapt to changing daily priorities.
Ability to lift and move heavy materials as required.
Able to work independently as well as collaboratively with a team.
Manufacturing or industrial experience is a plus.
Willingness to learn new equipment and perform a variety of responsibilities.
