Structural Steel Fabrication Supervisor

Shift: 2nd Shift
Starting Pay: $34.00/hour (Compensation may be higher based on experience.)
Shift Differential: Additional $3.00/hour for 2nd Shift.
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Structural Steel Fabrication Supervisor to lead a second-shift fabrication team in a structural steel manufacturing environment. This position combines hands-on fabrication expertise with team leadership to ensure production goals, quality standards, and delivery schedules are achieved safely and efficiently.
This role is best suited for candidates with a strong background in structural steel fitting and fabrication who are ready to lead welders and fitters on the shop floor.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and support a team of structural steel fitters and welders during daily production.
Partner with the Shop Foreman and other department leaders to coordinate workflow and meet production schedules.
Assign work based on production priorities and employee skill levels.
Provide technical guidance on fabrication methods, layout, drawings, welding techniques, and safety practices.
Monitor progress throughout the shift and adjust workloads to meet changing production demands.
Coordinate with the maintenance team to help keep fabrication equipment operating efficiently.
Promote a safe, productive, and team-oriented work environment.
Establish clear performance expectations while providing coaching, feedback, and employee support.
Work closely with the Quality Control department to ensure all AISC quality requirements are maintained.
Assist with employee onboarding, training, performance evaluations, timekeeping, interviews, and other supervisory responsibilities.
Complete additional duties as needed to support fabrication operations.
Required Qualifications
Previous leadership experience in a structural steel fabrication environment.
Strong knowledge of structural steel fitting, fabrication, layout, and welding processes.
Experience with CNC fabrication equipment and material handling operations.
Understanding of production planning, quality assurance, safety procedures, and cost control.
Commitment to following established workplace safety policies and procedures.
Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work across multiple departments.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Preferred Qualifications
Technical certification or an Associate degree in a related field.
Experience leading fabrication teams in a structural steel manufacturing facility.
Schedule & Work Requirements
2nd Shift position.
Flexibility to work overtime and Saturdays as production demands require.
Compensation & Benefits
Starting pay from $34.00 per hour, with higher starting pay available based on experience.
Additional $3.00 per hour shift differential for 2nd Shift.
