Able to maintain, extend, and refactor a production Django web application, including models, views, services, authentication, permissions, and admin tooling. - REST API design and backend integration experience
Comfortable building and maintaining API endpoints consumed by downstream systems, with attention to validation, versioning, performance, security, and reliability. - Cloud deployment experience on Azure

Strong understanding of relational databases, schema design, migrations, query optimisation, and how application configuration data supports downstream data processing. - Ability to work across backend and frontend boundaries
Comfortable supporting a transition where the Django application is being split into separate frontend and backend components, including defining clean API contracts and collaborating with frontend engineers.

Familiarity with Databricks workflows, jobs, notebooks, Delta Lake, or data pipeline orchestration, especially where an application provides configuration to data pipelines. - .NET or Microsoft frontend ecosystem experience
Experience with ASP.NET, Blazor, Razor, or other Microsoft web technologies would be useful if the frontend moves into a .NET-based framework. - Experience modernising monolithic applications
Prior involvement in separating frontend and backend layers, introducing API-first architecture, or migrating legacy functionality into cleaner services. - DevOps and CI/CD experience
Experience with Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, infrastructure-as-code, automated testing, environment promotion, and release management. - Data engineering awareness
Understanding of how configuration, metadata, scheduling, validation rules, or business logic drive data pipelines, even if the role is not primarily a data engineering position.
