About this Security Manager - Japan role at Control Risks

Control Risks · Onsite · Minato City, Tokyo, Japan

The Security Manager is responsible for enabling the safe, resilient and compliant conduct of our multi-national client's operations across the Tokyo head office and its associated branches in Japan. The Security Manager will protect the company’s people, assets, information and reputation by identifying and treating security risk at source, sustaining effective day-to-day on-site security operations across the country, and acting as the on-the-ground custodian of security governance, assurance, investigations and incident response. The role combines hands-on operational delivery with the trusted-adviser relationships needed to embed security as a business enabler rather than a constraint.

Key Responsibilities

  • Day-to-day delivery of access control, visitor management and key/asset control across the country, with the Tokyo Midtown office as the principal focus.
  • Effective operation, maintenance and governance of all security systems (CCTV, access control, intrusion / alarm), including ownership of camera administration, access permissions and footage handling under a defined chain of custody.
  • Regular physical-security inspections, spot audits, clean-sweep and after-hours compliance checks in the head office and also across the country remotely.
  • Accurate records of security activity, incidents and assurance outcomes, with corrective actions tracked to closure.
  • Periodic and exception reporting to the leadership team on risk, performance and compliance.
  • Key liaison with Tokyo Midtown building security and management, and with branch site managers.
  • Close coordination with Facilities Management for integrated site management
  • Constructive working relationships with security service providers, law enforcement and emergency services, and support to APMEA North Security teams where required.
  • Leadership and conduct of security investigations within agreed scope, in line with corporate investigation standards and Japanese law.
  • Bespoke protective-security plans for executive and VIP visits, balancing security with discretion and business needs.
  • Security risk assessment, planning and on-site coordination for conferences, town halls and high-profile corporate events.
  • A live security risk assessment for the head office, branches, and its business-related sites, reviewed on a defined cycle and after a material change or incident.
  • Maintenance of business continuity and incident-response plans covering various defined and presumable scenarios.
  • A cycle of exercises and tests, with lessons learned captured and plans updated.
  • Rapid, structured response to incidents, with timely escalation, coordination and resolution.
  • Pre-travel risk awareness and advisories for inbound and outbound business travel.
  • Security due diligence and risk assessment of providers and relevant third parties prior to and during engagement.
  • Monitoring of the regional security environment and emerging threats affecting the company's operations and its people.
  • Concise, decision-useful analysis and advisories/situation reports (SITREPs) for leadership and affected staff.
  • Translation of intelligence into practical protective measures and continuity triggers.

Requirements

Key Skills & Experience:

  • Experience in corporate security or physical security management.
  • Understanding of CCTV systems, access control, and security technologies.
  • Experience conducting investigations.
  • Sound understanding of business continuity and incident/crisis management.
