About the Company

This client is an Australian mortgage brokerage firm based in Melbourne, providing lending and finance solutions to clients nationwide. Operating at no cost to the borrower, they access a wide panel of Australian lenders to compare, negotiate, and secure competitive loan options. Their services cater to a diverse range of needs, from first-home buyers and owner-occupiers looking to refinance to clients requiring specialized lending packages such as construction, bridging, or profession-specific loans.

Role Overview

As a Part-Time Mortgage Broker Assistant, you will act as the Director's trusted offshore partner, holding a pivotal role in maintaining the flawless execution of residential and investment lending operations. This highly autonomous position is designed for an experienced professional who can independently drive loan files from initial scenario planning through to successful settlement without needing every detail double-checked. By taking full ownership of borrowing calculations, compliance, and lender liaison, you will empower the firm to scale its dual-practice wealth and lending services.

Responsibilities:

End-to-End Loan Processing & File Management

  • Manage client loan applications proactively in ApplyOnline from submission through to formal approval and settlement.
  • Perform rigorous serviceability assessments utilizing lender-specific calculators or Quickli, ensuring figures are accurate and ready for the broker’s immediate reliance without re-checking.
  • Evaluate complex financial documentation, including bank statements, tax returns, salary-sacrificed structures, and novated leases, adjusting calculations for lender-specific policy variations.
  • Formulate strategic recommendations regarding optimal loan structures, LVR exposure, and packaging options to prevent unnecessary cross-collateralization.
  • Prepare client-facing "Game Plans" and strategic documents, translating complex internal broker and banking terminology into plain, highly professional language.

Lender Liaison & Compliance

  • Liaise directly with lenders and BDMs to resolve conditional approval hurdles, request pricing discounts, and clarify policy exceptions.
  • Order valuations, prepare discharge forms, and accurately manage rate-lock confirmations to ensure seamless transaction timing.
  • Conduct extensive policy reviews across national schemes, first-home-buyer grants, state-specific concessions, and postcode-based restrictions.
  • Uphold strict compliance standards and adhere to robust cybersecurity and privacy policies to protect sensitive financial data.

Paraplanning (Highly Desirable)

  • Draft high-quality Statements of Advice (SOAs) and complete financial planning administrative tasks directly supporting the Director’s financial planning practice.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS (Must-Haves):

  • Experience: 3 to 5+ years of direct, hands-on experience in Australian mortgage broking support or loan processing.
  • Technical Expertise: Comprehensive understanding of Australian lending fundamentals, including LVR, stamp duty/purchase cost separations, and the precise mechanical difference between offset accounts and redraw facilities.
  • Tool Proficiency: Proficient in major Australian lender serviceability calculators. Comfortable utilizing AI productivity tools ethically to support, but not replace, your own analytical judgment.
  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written English communication skills, with a proven ability to write professional, client-friendly strategy documents.

Preferred Skills & Experience (Nice to Have):

  • Candidates who bring genuine paraplanning experience in addition to the mortgage broking must-haves above are highly sought and will be considered for an expanded, full-time role covering both mortgage broking support and paraplanning support!
  • Direct hands-on experience with the LMG (Loan Market) aggregator network and MyCRM system.
  • Prior exposure to complex lending files, including SMSF, Bridging, and Investment lending.
  • A strong interest or experience in workflow optimization and business automation.
