The Marine Supervisor is responsible for managing all marine operations to ensure the safe and efficient functioning of the offshore installation. The role oversees cargo operations, vessel and helicopter coordination, marine maintenance planning, and compliance with regulatory and class requirements. It also manages marine personnel, supports emergency response activities, and ensures the integrity of marine systems and equipment. The position serves as the onboard focal point for all marine-related matters while promoting safety, operational excellence, and environmental compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for operation, condition monitoring and troubleshooting of marine, cargo and relevant utility systems.
  • Responsible for 500m Safety Zone monitoring and traffic control.
  • Responsible for export tankers mooring and unmooring operations.
  • Responsible for cargo operations and cargo plan; cargo calculations; cargo/slop/ballast tanks entry; cargo/slop/ballast tanks condition monitoring; Crude Oil/Water Washing operations; slop water treatment, overboard discharge and Oil Record Book entries.
  • Responsible for unit stability and hull stresses; Loading/Stability software and software integrity.
  • Responsible for Support Vessel Handling and managing.
  • Responsible for overall Helicopter Operations.
  • Responsible for Waste Management and Garbage Record Book entries.
  • Responsible for planning of Marine Department maintenance activities in cooperation with OIM and other Department Heads.
  • Use the Computerized Maintenance Management System.
  • Review information in database to ensure it is technically valid, accurate and up to date.
  • Ensure regulatory and class requirements are adhered to.
  • To fulfil the risk management requirements by ensuring all risks in the marine operations are identified and procedures are established and implemented.
  • Under the direction of the OIM, investigate incidents and accidents to initially make the area safe and then to determine root cause.
  • Undertake statutory area safety inspections in accordance with Flag regulations.
  • Planning and preparation for inspection of Cargo Tanks and Cargo related equipment according to class or statutory requirements.
  • Ensures that appraisals of Marine personnel are conducted on a regular basis, training needs are analyzed and training requirements fulfilled where considered necessary.
  • Help shape a healthy corporate culture on board, proactively thinking communication and maintaining a positive working environment.
  • Ensure that all lifting gear on facility is kept within certification as per applicable rules and BWE procedures.
  • A record of certified lifting gear is available in a "Lifting Register".
  • Assist in budget preparation and control of expenditures.
  • Member of Emergency Response Team.
  • Performs the function of the designated Ship Security Officer (SSO) and is responsible for the security of the offshore unit in-line with the ISPS Code, Part B, Article 13.1, and the guidance laid out in SOLAS.

Requirements

Education

• Barge Supervisor as per STCW / IMO Resolution A.891(21) or Master License STCW 95 II/2 & IV/2.

Experience

• Ideally seven years’ experience as watch keeping officer with at least two years in supervisory position;

• Preferably FPSO or offshore platform experience;

• Preferably previous experience from working in a multicultural environment.

Knowledge

• Relevant national and regional rules and regulations

• Fully experienced in the use and of permit to work systems, hot work activities, gas testing, enclosed

space work, and safety monitoring of activities during plant shut-downs and refurbishments etc.

• Helicopter Operationsrelevant to unit and country of operation

• Waste Management relevant to unit and country of operation

• Mooring and unmooring operationsrelevant to unit of operation

• Safety Case where applicable

• Emergency Response procedure
