About this Family Court Advisor – West Midlands & Birmingham role at Liquid Personnel
Liquid Personnel is recruiting experienced Family Court Advisers (FCAs) to join a dedicated service supporting children and families through family court proceedings. This is a full-time agency role offering £33.50 per hour and highly flexible home working of up to 4 days per week.
As a Family Court Adviser, you will play a vital role in ensuring that the voice, welfare, and best interests of children remain at the heart of every decision made by the court. Working across both Public Law and Private Law proceedings, you will undertake complex assessments, provide expert analysis and recommendations, and work collaboratively with families, professionals, and the judiciary to achieve the best possible outcomes for children.

What will your responsibilities be?
As a Family Court Adviser, you will:
- Conduct safeguarding checks and risk assessments within family court proceedings.
- Gather, analyse, and evaluate complex information relating to child welfare and protection concerns.
- Prepare high-quality court reports, statements, and professional recommendations.
- Represent and advocate for the child’s wishes, feelings, and best interests throughout proceedings.
- Undertake direct work with children, young people, and families.
- Provide expert advice to courts on safeguarding and welfare matters.
- Manage a varied caseload across Public Law and Private Law proceedings.
- Work effectively with local authorities, legal representatives, schools, healthcare professionals, and partner agencies.
- Support the delivery of the Child Focused Court Model (CFC), ensuring children remain central throughout court proceedings.
- Maintain accurate case records and effectively utilise electronic case management systems.
- Apply professional judgement and evidence-based practice to support high-quality decision-making.
- Contribute to positive outcomes through effective communication, analysis, and partnership working.
Qualifications and Experience
To be successful in this role, you must have:
- A recognised Social Work qualification (BA, MA, DipSW, or equivalent)
- Registration with Social Work England
- A minimum of 3 years' post-qualifying experience working with children and families
- Strong experience in safeguarding, risk assessment, and child protection work
- Excellent report-writing and analytical skills
- Strong communication skills with children, families, legal professionals, and partner agencies
- Effective negotiation and conflict-resolution skills
- Excellent case management and organisational abilities
- Competent IT skills and experience using electronic case management systems
- Ability to remain professional and resilient when managing sensitive, complex, and high-conflict situations
Desirable Experience
- Previous experience within Family Court Advisory, Child Protection, Looked After Children, or Court Teams
- Experience working within Public Law and/or Private Law proceedings
- Knowledge of the Child Focused Court Model (CFC)
- Understanding of current family justice legislation and court processes
