Optimal, on behalf of its client, a leading company in the steel industry, operating as a service centre with an international presence is seeking to recruit a Senior Sales Engineer to join its growing commercial team.

Role Overview:

The successful candidate will play a key role in developing and managing B2B customer relationships, driving business growth, and expanding the company’s presence in both domestic and international markets. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially driven professional with a strong technical background who is looking to contribute to a long-term growth and succession plan within a dynamic industrial environment.

 

  Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage existing and new B2B customer accounts in Greece and international markets.
  • Identify new business opportunities and contribute to the expansion of the customer portfolio.
  • Present technical solutions and product proposals tailored to customer requirements and specifications.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and emerging opportunities.
  • Negotiate commercial agreements and maintain strong, long-term customer relationships.
  • Coordinate order management, delivery schedules, and invoicing processes.
  • Collaborate closely with Production, Warehouse, Purchasing, and other internal departments to ensure smooth order execution.
  • Participate in sales forecasting, target setting, and KPI monitoring.
  • Support and mentor junior sales team members.
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures and quality standards.

 

Requirements:

  • University degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Metallurgical) or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in technical or industrial B2B sales.
  • Previous experience within metals, raw materials, construction materials, or related industrial sectors will be highly appreciated.
  • Strong technical understanding combined with commercial acumen and business development orientation.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to build long-term partnerships and influence stakeholders effectively.
  • Results-driven professional with strong analytical thinking, problem-solving capabilities, and the ability to perform under demanding deadlines.
  • Collaborative team player with a proactive mindset, adaptability, and a commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
  • Excellent command of English, both written and spoken.
  • Very good knowledge of MS Office and ERP systems.
  • Availability to travel within Greece and internationally.
