Job Overview
We are currently seeking an experienced and dedicated Locum Speech and Language Therapist (SALT) to join a specialist Head and Neck Cancer service in Central London. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a Band 6 or Band 7 therapist to provide expert assessment and intervention for patients experiencing communication and swallowing difficulties associated with head and neck cancer.
The successful candidate will work as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team, providing high-quality, patient-centred care across the pathway. This role is ideal for a therapist with experience in acute, community, or specialist oncology settings who is looking for a rewarding locum opportunity starting ASAP.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
• Assess, diagnose, and manage patients with speech, language, voice, and swallowing difficulties related to head and neck cancer.
• Provide specialist assessment and intervention plans tailored to individual patient needs.
• Work collaboratively with medical teams and wider multidisciplinary professionals to support patient outcomes.
• Provide advice and education to patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in line with professional standards.
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and contribute to service development where appropriate.
Qualifications and Experience
To be considered for this role, you must have:
• A recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent).
• HCPC registration and eligibility for membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).
• Previous experience working within a Head and Neck Cancer, oncology, acute, or specialist SLT setting.
• Experience managing complex communication and swallowing needs.
• Excellent communication, organisation, and clinical decision-making skills.
• A proactive and adaptable approach to working within a multidisciplinary team.
