Working Hours: Full-time or Part-time (37.5 hours per week if full-time)
Duration: 3 months
Job Overview
We are currently seeking an experienced Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist to join the Adult Acute Inpatient team at Princess Royal University Hospital in Orpington on a locum basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated therapist with experience managing adult acute inpatient caseloads to provide high-quality assessment and intervention within a busy hospital setting.
The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, supporting patients with a range of communication and swallowing disorders to optimise their recovery and improve clinical outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Assess, diagnose, and manage adults with communication and swallowing difficulties within an acute inpatient setting.
- Deliver evidence-based Speech and Language Therapy interventions tailored to individual patient needs.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to support patient care and discharge planning.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical records in accordance with HCPC and local trust standards.
- Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and contribute to service delivery where appropriate.
Qualifications and Experience
To be considered for this role, you must have:
- A recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent).
- HCPC registration.
- Previous experience working with adult acute inpatient caseloads.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and clinical reasoning skills.
- The ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
