Purpose of the role

To ensure that the activities of the business units in the Markets division are conducted in compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, and to help the bank manage legal risk associated with these activities. 

Accountabilities

• Development and implementation of best practice legal strategies to manage compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations.
• Legal advice and support to the business units in the Markets division on matters arising from the relevant products/services provided by the Markets division  .
• Subject matter support in the Legal department’s representation of the bank in legal proceedings related to the Markets business units such as litigation, arbitration, and regulatory investigations.
• Creation and review of legal documents for the business units in the Markets division to ensure the bank’s compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations. Maintaining and updating template legal documentation for the Markets division.
• Legal research and analysis to stay up to date on changes in applicable laws, rules and regulations that may impact the activities of the bank's Markets business units   .
• Developing and delivering training programmes to educate employees on legal and regulatory requirements related to the activities of the Markets business units   .
• Pro-active identification, communication, and provision of legal advice on applicable laws, rules and regulations (LRRs). Keeping up to date with regards to changes to LRRs in the relevant coverage area. Ensuring that LRRs are effectively allocated to, and adequately reflected within, the relevant policies, standards and controls.

Join Barclays as a U.S. Equities Lawyer - VP, where you will provide legal and regulatory support to our Global Markets businesses, with a primary focus on equity derivatives, corporate derivatives, and equity swaps across the Americas. You will advise on complex transactions involving Delta One products, flow and structured derivatives, structured notes, and other equity-linked products while partnering closely with business leaders and key stakeholders. As a technical subject matter expert, you will identify and resolve legal and regulatory issues, guide transaction structuring, and provide practical legal advice across multiple business lines. This individual contributor role offers significant visibility and the opportunity to support sophisticated U.S. equities and derivatives activity within Barclays’ Global Legal team.

To be successful as a U.S. Equities Lawyer – VP, you should have:

• Experience advising on equity derivatives within an investment bank or leading law firm
• Technical knowledge of Delta One products, equity swaps, flow derivatives, structured derivatives, and structured notes
• Experience with OTC equity derivatives documentation, including ISDA Equity Definitions
• Experience advising on corporate equity derivatives transactions involving issuers and shareholders

Some other highly valued skills may include:

• Knowledge of applicable U.S. securities, derivatives, and broker-dealer laws and regulations
• Expertise in complex structured transactions and equity derivatives matters
• Ability to provide practical legal guidance and support across multiple business lines and senior stakeholders
• Critical thinking, analytical, communication, and stakeholder-management skills

Minimum Salary: $200,000

Maximum Salary: $290,000
