Technical Consultant
Location: Boston, MA (Hybrid)
Reports To: Sr. Manager, Technical Services
Employment Type: Full-Time
Travel: Up to 25% travel
The Opportunity:
As a Technical Consultant on our Implementation team, you will serve as the technical builder during customer onboarding, constructing custom pricing and quoting configurations using P3L, our proprietary Python-based language. Reporting to the Manager of Technical Services, you will bridge technical execution and customer consulting by converting complex manufacturing pricing logic into automated software workflows.
In this cross-functional role, you will partner closely with Implementation Project Managers and Services Engineers to drive projects to completion on schedule. By spending time on-site at customer facilities, you will gain hands-on insight into manufacturing operations, ensuring every deployment delivers maximum value and long-term platform adoption.
What Success Looks Like (First 6–12 Months)
- Onboarding Velocity & Delivery: Configure and launch P3L pricing models and standard integrations for customer onboarding projects within targeted time-to-value benchmarks.
- Technical Solution Quality: Independently design, code, and document maintainable custom configurations that solve complex customer pricing requirements.
- Customer Adoption & Impact: Conduct technical discovery and establish customer trust to ensure high platform adoption and post-go-live satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Solution Architecture & P3L Configuration: Design, build, and maintain customer pricing models using Paperless Parts’ proprietary Python-based coding language (P3L).
- Integration Deployment: Deploy standard system integrations and engineer custom data mappings to meet specific customer operational requirements.
- Cross-Functional Execution: Collaborate with Implementation Project Managers and Services Engineers to gather requirements, map technical solutions, and hit onboarding milestones.
- Discovery & Technical Documentation: Conduct customer discovery sessions and document all custom configurations and code to ensure maintainability and knowledge transfer.
- On-Site Immersion & Consulting: Visit customer manufacturing facilities to learn shop operations firsthand, build technical relationships, and advise on quoting workflow best practices.
- Post-Launch Configuration Support: Provide ongoing technical support and optimization for live customer pricing configurations and integrations.
Qualifications & Experience
Core Requirements
- Programming & Computational Skills: Demonstrated proficiency with Python, Excel formulas, SQL, or comparable programming environments.
- Technical Implementation Track Record: Proven experience implementing software solutions or configuring technical workflows for external stakeholders.
- Problem Solving & Solution Mapping: Demonstrated capability to translate complex business and pricing requirements into structured software configurations.
- Stakeholder Communication: Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical customer stakeholders.
- Location: Ability to work in a hybrid arrangement and travel up to 25% to customer facilities across the US.
Preferred Qualifications
- Manufacturing Domain Knowledge: Familiarity with job shop operations such as CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, or 3D printing.
- Relevant Background: Experience in SaaS onboarding or implementation roles, or an academic background in Computer Science, Engineering, or MIS.
Salary range: $70,000 - $100,000
The job posting range is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting.
