Overall Purpose
The Sr. Software Engineer designs, develops, tests, and maintains software applications and services with a primary focus on the Microsoft .NET technology stack. This position provides technical expertise throughout the software development lifecycle, develops complex software capabilities, supports reliable and secure application delivery, and collaborates with engineering and business partners to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions.
Essential Functions
- Design, develop, document, test, deploy, and maintain software applications and services using C# and the .NET platform.
- Serve as a technical resource on software development projects, providing guidance on application design, development approaches, and engineering best practices.
- Drive activities throughout the software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, technical design, development, testing, implementation, and production support.
- Develop and maintain APIs, services, and application components using modern .NET development practices.
- Translate business and functional requirements into technical designs and specifications.
- Design solutions that support maintainability, scalability, reliability, and application performance.
- Develop and maintain automated unit and integration tests as part of the software delivery process.
- Participate in code reviews and provide actionable feedback to maintain code quality, security, and engineering standards.
- Troubleshoot complex application defects and production issues, identify root causes, and implement sustainable solutions.
- Support and enhance existing applications while developing new capabilities based on business and customer needs.
- Evaluate technologies, frameworks, and engineering practices for potential implementation and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with engineers, product partners, and other stakeholders to refine requirements, estimate work, and deliver software capabilities.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to Software Engineers and other team members as appropriate.
- Support automated build, deployment, and continuous integration/continuous delivery processes.
- Support the company’s commitment to risk management and protecting the integrity and confidentiality of systems and data.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education and experience typically obtained through completion of a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field and/or equivalent relevant education, training, and work experience.
- Typically has 5 years of experience or demonstrated portfolio consistent with experience required of the role.
- Demonstrated software development experience using C# and .NET.
- Experience developing applications or services using modern .NET frameworks, such as .NET and ASP.NET Core.
- Experience designing, developing, and integrating RESTful APIs and web services.
- Working knowledge of SQL and relational database concepts.
- Experience with source code management and collaborative development practices using Git or a comparable source control platform.
- Experience developing automated unit and integration tests.
- Experience troubleshooting complex software issues across application components and environments.
- Understanding of object-oriented design, distributed application architecture, and component-based software design.
- Understanding of asynchronous programming, concurrency, and multithreaded application concepts.
- Experience participating in code reviews and applying secure software development practices.
- Experience with automated build, deployment, or CI/CD processes.
- Understanding of iterative software development and Agile/Lean methodologies.
- Ability to translate business and functional requirements into technical solutions.
- Ability to communicate technical information effectively and collaborate across engineering and business teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with cloud-based application development and deployment.
- Experience with AWS
- Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with event-driven or message-based application architectures.
- Experience with test-driven development (TDD) or behavior-driven development (BDD).
- Experience with automated functional, regression, performance, or integration testing frameworks.
- Experience supporting high-volume, distributed, or highly available applications.
- Experience with application monitoring, observability, and production troubleshooting tools.
- Experience modernizing or refactoring legacy .NET applications.
- Additional related education and/or experience.

Physical Requirements
Working conditions consist of a normal office environment. Work is primarily sedentary and requires extensive use of a computer and involves sitting for periods of approximately four hours. Work may require occasional standing, walking, kneeling and reaching. Must be able to lift 10 pounds occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently. Requires visual acuity and dexterity to view, prepare, and manipulate documents and office equipment including personal computers. Requires the ability to communicate with internal and/or external customers.

The base pay scale for this position in:
Phoenix, AZ/ Chicago, IL in USD per year is: $118,000 - $152,000.
San Francisco, CA in USD per year is: $142,000 - $183,000.
Additionally, candidates are eligible for a discretionary incentive plan and benefits.
