LendingTree · Hybride · Charlotte, NC, United States

Senior Network Engineer

PLEASE NOTE: This is a hybrid role requiring in-office presence 3 days per week (Monday–Wednesday or Tuesday–Thursday) with 2 days remote. The candidate must be in or near Charlotte, NC or have plans to relocate. This position includes participation in an on-call rotation to support critical network infrastructure.

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. LendingTree and its affiliates (“LendingTree”) will not provide or assume sponsorship for employment visas for this position, now or in the future.

The Opportunity

As a Senior Network Engineer, you’ll play a key role in designing, implementing, and evolving LendingTree’s enterprise network infrastructure. You’ll serve as a subject matter expert across our Fortinet-based environment while helping modernize our network through cloud connectivity, automation, Infrastructure as Code, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices.

You’ll work across Infrastructure Engineering, Security, Cloud Operations, and DevOps to build network services that are secure, scalable, highly available, and observable. This is a hands-on technical role with opportunities to influence architecture, lead projects, mentor engineers, and shape the future of LendingTree’s network infrastructure across on-premises and cloud environments.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Design, implement, maintain, and optimize enterprise network infrastructure, including Fortinet FortiGate firewalls, FortiSwitch, FortiAP, FortiSASE, and FortiNAC.

  • Design and support cloud networking solutions across AWS and Azure, including hybrid connectivity between cloud environments and LendingTree’s on-premises infrastructure.

  • Lead network modernization and automation initiatives using Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, scripting, APIs, and tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and Python.

  • Improve the reliability and observability of network services by defining and monitoring SLIs and SLOs, analyzing logs and performance data, participating in incident response, and driving root cause analysis and continuous improvement.

  • Establish and maintain network security policies, firewall rules, VPNs, segmentation, and other controls in partnership with Information Security.

  • Troubleshoot complex network issues, respond to outages and performance problems, and participate in an on-call rotation supporting critical network infrastructure.

  • Lead network architecture reviews, capacity planning, roadmap development, and infrastructure upgrades and expansions.

  • Mentor junior network engineers and provide technical guidance across the organization.

  • Develop documentation, diagrams, runbooks, and operational processes that improve the reliability and maintainability of network services.

Who You’ll Work With

You’ll work closely with Infrastructure Engineering, Information Security, Cloud Operations, DevOps, and Platform Engineering teams to support LendingTree’s applications and technology environment. You’ll partner with technical stakeholders to design secure, reliable network solutions and translate infrastructure requirements into scalable implementations.

As a senior member of the team, you’ll also provide technical leadership through architecture reviews, project leadership, mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration. The role combines independent ownership with a highly collaborative operating model.

What You’ll Bring

  • 5+ years of experience in network engineering or a related technical role.

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience with Fortinet products, including FortiGate, FortiSwitch, or FortiAP.

  • Hands-on experience with cloud networking in AWS and/or Azure environments.

  • Experience working in enterprise-scale environments and leading technical projects or initiatives.

  • Strong understanding of networking protocols and technologies, including BGP, OSPF, VLAN, STP, and LACP.

  • Experience with VPN technologies such as IPSec, SSL VPN, and SD-WAN.

  • Working knowledge of FortiOS, FortiGate firewall configuration, FortiSwitch, FortiAP wireless, and FortiSASE.

  • Experience with network security principles, firewall policies, network segmentation, and VPN configuration.

  • Scripting experience with Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar tools.

  • Exposure to Infrastructure as Code and automation technologies such as Terraform and Ansible.

  • Familiarity with Git and CI/CD pipelines.

  • Experience with network monitoring, logging, and observability tools such as SumoLogic, FortiAnalyzer, CloudWatch, or similar platforms.

  • Experience troubleshooting complex network issues using tools such as Wireshark and tcpdump.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.

  • Strong technical documentation skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and collaborate effectively across teams.

What Will Help You Thrive

  • Technical leadership: You can influence architecture and technical direction while remaining hands-on with implementation and troubleshooting.

  • Automation mindset: You look for opportunities to eliminate repetitive work, improve consistency, and make infrastructure easier to operate through automation and IaC.

  • Reliability focus: You think beyond whether a system works today and consider how it will perform, scale, and recover tomorrow.

  • Security mindset: You understand that network architecture and security are closely connected and can balance accessibility, performance, and risk.

  • Cloud curiosity: You’re interested in modern cloud networking architectures and enjoy expanding your expertise across AWS, Azure, and hybrid environments.

  • Ownership: You take responsibility for problems through resolution and look for ways to prevent recurring issues.

  • Mentorship: You enjoy helping other engineers develop their technical skills and confidence.

  • Communication: You can explain complex technical issues clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Continuous learning: You’re curious about emerging technologies and eager to improve both your technical expertise and the systems you support.

  • Collaborative problem-solving: You’re comfortable asking questions, working through ambiguity, and partnering across teams to solve challenging infrastructure problems.

What Success Looks Like

  • LendingTree’s enterprise network remains secure, highly available, scalable, and reliable as business and technology needs evolve.

  • Fortinet network infrastructure, SASE, SD-WAN, and network access controls are effectively managed and continuously optimized.

  • AWS and Azure connectivity provides secure, reliable communication between cloud and on-premises environments.

  • Network provisioning, configuration, and policy changes become increasingly automated through Terraform, CI/CD, APIs, and scripting.

  • Network services have meaningful observability through effective logging, monitoring, SLIs, and SLOs.

  • Network incidents are resolved efficiently, with root causes identified and recurring issues reduced through preventative improvements.

  • Network architecture and technology roadmaps evolve in alignment with broader infrastructure, security, and business priorities.

  • Documentation and runbooks make network operations more consistent, scalable, and resilient.

  • Junior engineers receive effective technical mentorship and guidance.

  • Cross-functional teams view you as a trusted technical partner for network architecture, security, reliability, and troubleshooting.

À propos de LendingTree

LendingTree is the nation’s largest online lending marketplace. That means we connect customers with multiple lenders so they find the best deals on loans, credit cards, savings accounts and insurance. Our goal is to help people save money, and we believe the best way to do that is by giving them a way to shop for loans and compare lenders so they make their best financial choices.

Our CEO Doug Lebda founded the company in 1996 after a frustrating house-hunting experience. In those days, we mostly helped people find good mortgage deals. Now, we help consumers find their best in personal loans, auto loans, business loans, student loans, credit cards, savings accounts, home equity loans and more.

What else you should know about us:

  • We’re a publicly-traded company (TREE).
  • We’ve welcomed several other companies into the LendingTree family to augment our efforts at helping borrowers make their most sensible financial choices.
  • We’ve built the LendingTree app and My LendingTree dashboard to give consumers tools to manage and monitor their financial health.
  • We still make funny commercials.

CULTURE

We’re a fast-paced company with an entrepreneurial bend. We work hard and test our products often. We’re collaborative, ambitious, candid and high-energy. Our teammates are some of the brightest, most talented people you’ll ever work with. We care more about your smarts than we do about the kinds of clothes you wear (but please, do wear clothes to work!), and we’re pretty good about rewarding innovation, creativity and the knack for just getting stuff done (we even have an award for employees called the GSD, “Get Stuff Done”).

Come work with us!

LendingTree is the kind of company that not only promotes diversity and inclusion; we thrive because of these values. We do not discriminate based on race, color, religion (or creed), gender, gender expression, age, national origin, disability, marital status, sexual orientation or military status.
