About the Role

You'll be the end to end technical owner of how external partners and merchants integrate with Koalafi. From the first discovery call through build, launch, and ongoing support, you're the person who designs the integration path, guides partner development teams, validates the implementation, and keeps it healthy in production. While not responsible for writing production code, you’ll play a key role in accelerating our go-to-market efforts.

You’ll deeply understand Koalafi’s technical offerings and platform architecture so that you can guide external teams to build reliable, scalable, and compliant integrations. You’ll work cross-functionally with business development, product, and engineering teams to unblock deals, expand platform support, and improve the overall merchant experience. You'll also own the operating rhythm around integrations — the recurring cross-functional meetings, our internal and external documentation, and the processes that keep the work moving.

What You'll Do

• Develop mastery of every integration we offer — the full set of features, every existing partner implementation, how each is configured, and what makes each one unique.

• Build an end-to-end understanding of Koalafi's products beyond the integration layer: how an application moves from origination through approval, checkout, and funding, and how our internal systems interact along the way.

• Own each new integration end to end; starting with Discovery and continuing through the build, QA and release of that new integration.

• Keep our existing implementations running by supporting rollouts to new merchants and partnering with sales to identify new areas of engagement.

• Be the first line of defense for any partner submitted issues, leveraging observability tools to triage and prioritize partner submitted tickets.

• Partner with Engineering, Product, and Sales to identify enhancement opportunities in existing integrations, and own those enhancements through completion.

• Continuously look for ways to improve how we work internally, and own the rollout and adoption of the improvements you design.

What You Might Take On

Beyond the day-to-day, there are open problems we'd want your help solving:

• External partner communications: How do we quickly alert partners during an outage, announce breaking changes and schedule required upgrades, and drive adoption of new features?

• Partner ticketing: Establishing a real process for partners to submit issues, and championing adoption both internally and externally.

• Manual process audit: Finding what we do by hand that Engineering could automate, where manual work is producing errors, and where we could give people meaningful time back.

About You

• Solid understanding of REST APIs, webhooks, and common integration patterns; experience with e-commerce platforms (Shopify, BigCommerce, Magento) or POS systems is a strong plus.

• Familiarity with software engineering principles and software architecture — enough to reason about how systems fit together and where a flow is likely breaking.

• Familiarity with at least one programming language (e.g., GoLang, JavaScript, Python)—enough to understand code samples, answer implementation questions, and speak confidently with developers

• Able to write SQL queries and use other troubleshooting tools (e.g. Elastic, Fullstory, Postman) to investigate issues, size impact, and make small manual changes.

• Eagerness to leverage AI tools to assist with initial triage and investigation.

• Able to translate complex technical concepts into partner-friendly language without losing depth or accuracy.

• Strong collaboration skills—you enjoy working across business, product, and engineering teams to solve real-world problems.

• Effective both independently and collaboratively, and proactive about seeking feedback.

• Highly organized, detail-oriented, curious, and comfortable navigating ambiguity in dynamic partner engagements.

• A genuine problem solver who identifies gaps and pain points in existing processes and improves them; able to synthesize a partner problem into a technical solution.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially in structured documentation or integration guides.

Experience

• Bachelor's degree preferred in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or a related field.

• 6+ years in a technical, client-facing role such as Solutions Engineer, Solutions Architect, Integration Engineer, or Technical Consultant.

Location: Richmond, VA; Arlington, VA; or Remote (U.S.). Associates near one of our office locations may work in-office, hybrid, or remotely. Remote opportunities are available to candidates throughout the United States. 

Salary Range: $140,000-$160,000 per year (depending on experience and location)

Additional Compensation: This position will be eligible to participate in company bonus plan. 

The final salary offer will depend on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, and geographic location. The actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.
