We are seeking a Software Engineer to join our high-performing engineering team. This is an exciting opportunity for a strong full-stack engineer who is passionate about building secure, scalable software whilst embracing modern AI-enabled engineering practices.

You will be responsible for designing, developing, and delivering end-to-end applications within a cloud-first architecture, applying automation, testing, and secure coding principles throughout the software development lifecycle.

This role plays a key part in our transition towards a DevSecOps culture, embedding quality, security, compliance, and automation earlier in the development lifecycle.

Alongside strong software engineering fundamentals, the successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to leverage AI tools effectively, using them to improve productivity, automate development activities, and support intelligent decision-making without compromising quality, security, or accountability.

Responsibilities

Software Development & Secure Coding

Design, develop and maintain cloud-ready full-stack applications aligned with business and security requirements.

Develop secure, maintainable and scalable software using modern engineering principles.

Apply secure coding standards and industry best practices.

Contribute to architecture and technical design discussions.

Ensure software meets quality, security and performance standards.

Testing, Automation & DevSecOps

Develop and maintain unit, integration and API tests.

Contribute to CI/CD pipeline development and optimisation using Azure DevOps.

Support shift-left testing and security practices.

Embed automated testing and security checks throughout the development lifecycle.

Assist in improving development standards and engineering processes.

Cloud Engineering

Build and support scalable solutions hosted within Microsoft Azure.

Contribute to deployment, configuration and management across multiple environments.

Work closely with Cloud, Security and Infrastructure teams.

Support cloud-native application development and deployment strategies.

API & Integration Development

Design and develop RESTful APIs.

Support microservices-based architectures where appropriate.

Build secure and scalable integrations across internal and external systems.

Ensure APIs are documented, tested and maintainable.

Documentation & Technical Communication

Produce and maintain technical documentation.

Document architecture decisions, integrations and deployment processes.

Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Participate in peer reviews and knowledge-sharing initiatives.

Agile Delivery

Participate in sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives and agile ceremonies.

Collaborate with Product, QA, Architecture and Engineering teams.

Contribute to project estimation, planning and technical decision-making.

Help drive continuous improvement across engineering practices.

AI-Enabled Engineering

This role forms part of our evolution towards AI-enabled software delivery. The successful candidate will be expected to:

Use AI tools to support day-to-day software engineering activities.
Identify suitable development activities that can be delegated to AI agents.
Verify and review AI-generated outputs thoroughly before implementation.
Build appropriate testing and validation mechanisms for AI-assisted work.
Understand when AI should be used and when human judgement is required.
Maintain accountability for all code and technical decisions.

AI capability is viewed as an enhancement to strong engineering fundamentals, not a replacement for them.

Critical Skills and Experience required

Core Engineering

Commercial experience with C#, .NET Core and/or .NET Framework.
Experience building full-stack applications.
Strong software engineering fundamentals.
Understanding of modern application architecture patterns.
Experience delivering enterprise-scale solutions.

Candidates should demonstrate practical experience using AI within a software engineering environment, including:

Building AI-enabled development processes.
Judgement regarding what should and should not be delegated to AI.

We are particularly interested in engineers who can demonstrate progression from:

AI-Augmented → AI-Delegating

Engineering fundamentals remain a non-negotiable requirement.

Qualifications (Essential & Desirable)

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or equivalent practical experience.

Experience

3+ years' commercial full-stack development experience.

Experience developing secure and scalable applications.

Experience working within agile software delivery environments.

Preferred Certifications

Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900)

Azure Developer Associate (AZ-204)

Desirable Experience

Financial Services experience.

Wealth Management experience.

Regulated industry experience.

DevSecOps environments.

GDPR and ISO27001 awareness.

Containerised environments.

Serverless architectures.

Infrastructure as Code.

Security tooling including SAST and DAST.

Knowledge of Consumer Duty or CASS regulations.
