We’re seeking an experienced Service Supervisor to join our Mackay team. This is an outstanding opportunity for a motivated leader who thrives in a fast-paced workshop environment and is passionate about developing people, driving operational excellence, and delivering exceptional customer outcomes.
As a Service Supervisor, you will play a key role in overseeing daily workshop operations, supporting Leading Hands and tradespeople, ensuring safe and efficient work practices, and driving performance across quality, productivity, and customer satisfaction. This is a Permanent, Monday to Friday role.

What you’ll be doing:
As a Service Supervisor at Hastings Deering, you will:
- Drive safety and compliance – ensure all activities are conducted in accordance with WH&S legislation, company policies, and safety standards.
- Support accurate estimating – provide technical expertise and input into customer estimates, quotations, and work scope development.
- Lead operational meetings – coordinate and actively participate in weekly and monthly departmental meetings, ensuring actions are documented, communicated, and followed through.
- Manage workshop efficiency – identify and resolve work order inefficiencies to deliver the best outcomes for customers, employees, and the business.
- Optimise resources and processes – determine manpower and equipment requirements, recommend organisational improvements, and implement effective service department procedures.
- Contribute to business improvement – support the development and execution of operational projects that drive performance and continuous improvement.
- Maintain communication and accountability – ensure meeting minutes are accurately recorded, actions are tracked, and updates are uploaded to Noggin.
- Coordinate workshop operations – communicate machine and component arrivals, promise dates, and customer requirements to Leading Hands, Foremen, and Supervisors.
- Administer warranty assessments – determine machine, parts, and service warranty eligibility in line with manufacturer guidelines.
- Deliver accurate quotations – ensure work order estimates are comprehensive, financially accurate, and communicated effectively to customers.
- Monitor financial and labour targets – oversee work order budgets, labour allocations, and cost estimates to ensure alignment with customer requirements and business objectives.
- Oversee quality and performance – work closely with Service Coordinators and Advisors to monitor work order quality, efficiency, and overall job performance.
What you’ll need:
A successful teammate will have experience in:
- Trade qualified leader – hold a recognised qualification as a Diesel Fitter, Plant Mechanic, Heavy Vehicle Mechanic, Auto Electrician, or equivalent.
- Proven supervisory experience – demonstrated success leading teams within workshop, service, mining, construction, or heavy equipment environments.
- Technical expertise – strong understanding of heavy mobile equipment maintenance, repair, and service operations.
- Results-driven leader – proven ability to lead teams, manage competing priorities, and deliver operational performance targets.
- Planning and coordination skills – experienced in scheduling, quoting, estimating, and work order management.
- Strong communicator – highly developed interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to build lasting relationships.
- Problem-solving mindset – able to identify opportunities, resolve operational challenges, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Safety and customer focused – committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and customer service excellence.
- Systems capability – proficient with Microsoft Office and business management systems in a fast-paced operational environment.
