This opportunity is ideal for an outcome-driven researcher who enjoys translating innovative ideas into tangible research outcomes while leveraging world-class facilities, expertise and infrastructure.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Performing molecular biology, protein biochemistry, and cell culture experiments, including cloning, PCR, recombinant display technologies, protein expression and purification, phage panning, and cell-based assays.
• Supporting the design, delivery and optimisation of research studies, including peptide synthesis, purification, analytical assessment, affinity evaluation and functional assays.
• Maintaining accurate experimental records, analysing and presenting findings, contributing to laboratory operations, and assisting with literature reviews, reporting and manuscript preparation.
• Contributing to the safe and efficient operation of laboratory infrastructure while ensuring compliance with relevant University policies, procedures and safety requirements.

This is a full-time, fixed-term position until 31 December 2027 at HEW Level 5.

About You

• Completion of a degree qualification in molecular biology or a related discipline, or completion of a Diploma with relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Demonstrated practical research experience in:
  • molecular biology, particularly in the construction and application of phage libraries.
  • protein biochemistry, particularly the recombinant expression of proteins
  • cell biology, such as the maintenance of cell lines and use of flow cytometry
• Experience with computational approaches, structural biology tools or protein structure prediction would be highly regarded.
• Experience maintaining comprehensive research records and analysing experimental outcomes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present research findings and contribute to reports, presentations and publications.
• Strong organisational skills, a methodical approach to work, and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary research teams while also independently managing routine research activities.
• Previous experience in a similar research support or technical research role would be viewed favourably.
