About Redwood Materials

Redwood is localizing a global battery supply chain that seamlessly integrates recovery, reuse, and recycling — keeping critical minerals in circulation and driving the energy transition. Founded in 2017, we’re delivering low-cost and large-scale energy storage and producing battery materials in the U.S. for the first time, all from batteries we already have.

The Senior Paralegal, Immigration will support the Company’s internal employment-based immigration program as part of the Legal Team. This role will coordinate closely with external immigration counsel, sponsored employees, managers, the People Team and the Legal Team to help administer immigration sponsorship processes and ensure immigration matters are handled consistently, timely, and in alignment with Company procedures.

This position will help manage day-to-day immigration operations, support case coordination for sponsored employees and candidates, maintain immigration-related records and tracking tools, and develop practical procedures, templates, and resources to improve program efficiency, compliance, and employee experience.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Support the administration of the Company’s employment-based immigration program, including coordination of nonimmigrant and immigrant visa matters and related immigration processes.
  • Serve as a key point of contact between external immigration counsel and internal stakeholders, including sponsored employees, managers, the People Team, and the Legal Team.
  • Respond to routine immigration inquiries and escalate complex or higher-risk matters to the Associate General Counsel or external counsel as appropriate.
  • Coordinate immigration case initiation, document collection, job-duty confirmations, LCA postings, and other Company-side requirements needed to support immigration filings.
  • Support pre-hire immigration sponsorship assessments and internal approval processes for candidate sponsorship, employee sponsorship, extensions, H-1B lottery participation, PERM initiation, role changes, travel, and other immigration-impacting events.
  • Develop, update, and maintain immigration-related procedures, SOPs, templates, checklists, FAQs, employee communications, and manager-facing resources.
  • Support immigration program governance, including tracking key deadlines, identifying compliance risks, monitoring outside counsel spend, and helping ensure consistent application of Company sponsorship procedures.
  • Keep up to date on changing immigration laws that impact current and future employees of Redwood.
  • Support other Legal Team projects as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • 5+ years of business immigration experience.
  • Knowledge of U.S. employment-based immigration processes, including immigration and nonimmigrant petitions and processes, and immigration compliance concepts.
  • Experience working with external immigration counsel and coordinating immigration matters involving employees, candidates, managers, HR, Recruiting, or Legal.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple matters, deadlines, stakeholders, and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain immigration processes clearly, professionally, and empathetically.
  • Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, discretion, and ability to handle confidential employee and Company information.
  • Ability to maintain focus, accuracy, and sound judgment while managing complex information, shifting priorities, and evolving processes in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience creating or improving processes, SOPs, trackers, templates, or employee-facing resources.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, Teams, SharePoint, HRIS systems, immigration case management systems, or similar business tools.
  • Paralegal certificate, bachelor’s degree, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience preferred.

The position is full-time. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
