About the role

We are looking for a hands-on Senior General Accountant to support the accuracy and completeness of the company’s accounting records. The role covers general ledger activities, reconciliations, closing and financial reporting, as well as coordination with other teams to resolve accounting queries. The successful candidate will support business operations in real estate development and transportation and will work from Egypt with colleagues in Riyadh.

Key responsibilities

·    Maintain the general ledger and ensure transactions are recorded accurately and in the correct period.

·    Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, prepayments and other month-end adjustments.

·    Reconcile balance sheet and general ledger accounts and investigate unusual balances or differences.

·    Support accounts payable and receivable activities, including reviewing invoices and related documentation.

·    Maintain fixed asset records and calculate depreciation in line with accounting policies.

·    Assist with monthly, quarterly and annual closing activities and preparation of financial statements.

·    Review and record project-related costs and other operating expenses accurately.

·    Support VAT and other tax-related reconciliations and documentation in line with applicable Saudi requirements.

·    Ensure accounting records are properly supported, organised and available for audit.

·    Coordinate with other departments to clarify transactions and resolve accounting issues.

·    Support external auditors and respond to audit queries.

·    Suggest improvements to accounting processes, reconciliations and reporting.

Requirements

Qualifications and experience

·    Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.

·    Typically 4- 6 years of experience in general accounting.

·    Strong practical experience with general ledger, journal entries, reconciliations and month-end closing.

·    Experience in real estate, construction, transportation or a multi-activity business is preferred.

·    Good knowledge of IFRS and core accounting principles.

·    Familiarity with Saudi VAT and ZATCA requirements is an advantage.

·    Experience with ERP/accounting systems and strong Microsoft Excel skills.
