The Stephenville Senior Counselor, under supervision of the Director of Student Counseling Services (SCS), supports the overall wellness of the campus community through direct clinical services, administrative coordination, oversight of the Academic Training Lab, and outreach leadership. This role balances individual and group counseling responsibilities with added administrative and outreach efforts aimed at expanding Counseling Services’ presence and impact.

Depending on experience and qualifications, the role may include mentorship, supervision, and training of student employees and/or counseling interns. The counselor participates in the on-call crisis response rotation and performs other duties as assigned. Serves as Campus Security Authority (CSA).

This position is in-office, located in Stephenville, Texas, and works Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM. Occasional travel to the Fort Worth campus, conferences, after-hours outreach, and weekend support for university events will be required.

Responsibilities:

Direct Clinical Services:

• Renders individual and group counseling to students experiencing developmental, psychological, and interpersonal concerns. Group offerings may include process-oriented, psychoeducational, and drop-in formats. Provides crisis counseling and response and serves as a resource to the university community in matters of crisis intervention. Participates in on-call crisis rotation. Supports the Leadership Team in maintaining and managing records within the clinic’s electronic health record system, including conducting audits and facilitating record expungement in accordance with state laws and university policies.

Program Leadership:

• Serves as part of the leadership team for SCS, providing guidance to SCS staff in managing day-to-day operations, crisis intervention, clinical scheduling, professional development, and outreach requests.
• Coordinates and supports grant related activities, including identifying funding opportunities, assisting with proposal development, monitoring project timelines and deliverables, and preparing required reports. Collaborates with university departments and community partners to implement grant funded initiatives and special projects that enhance Counseling Services programming, outreach, and student wellness. Assists with the planning, coordination, and evaluation of strategic initiatives that align with departmental and university priorities.
• Oversees staff professional development, including leading internal case review and consultation, accessing / arranging external consultation when appropriate, and providing and promoting CEU and educational opportunities.
• Oversees the Academic Training Lab including coordinating intern selection, onboarding, and training, and matching interns with SCS supervisors. Serves as an SCS site supervisor for one to three interns per academic year. Provides consultation and support to supervisors, including addressing performance concerns and coordinating communication with intern faculty as needed.

Outreach:

• Coordinates outreach activities in collaboration with campus departments and community resources. Supports marketing, website updates, and event planning to promote SCS. Prepares internal and external documentation and reports. Represents SCS on university committees, community collaboratives, professional coalitions, and at conferences.

Case Management and External Consultation:

• Maintains timely and thorough documentation in accordance with licensure standards and departmental policies. Coordinates care with campus partners and external providers. Participates in regular clinical consultations and staff meetings. Provides consultation to campus partners regarding concern for students, referrals, processes, etc.

Other duties as assigned:

• Serve as representative on Department, Division, and University committees and task forces, at events, and to department stakeholders as assigned / needed.
• Attend and actively engage in Department and Division meetings, trainings, and functions.

Minimum Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

• Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience working in or with a complex organization with an understanding of larger institutional goals and objectives.
• One year of experience in a college counseling center or related mental health setting.
• Must hold a current Clinical Supervisor designation or be eligible and willing to begin the Clinical Supervisor designation process upon hire.

Licensure Requirement:

• Must hold a current, unrestricted Texas license as a Licensed Psychologist (LP), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), and maintain the license in good standing with BHEC as a condition of continued employment.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Proficiency in standard office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
• Strong written communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to relevant state laws and ethical standards.
• Effective collaboration and multitasking skills in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Comfortable presenting to groups and engaging with a broad range of students and stakeholders.
  

Preferred:

• Experience with outreach programming and student engagement
• Previous work in a university counseling center
• Familiarity with Titanium Schedule or similar EHR systems
• Experience with CBT, DBT, and / or solution-focused, brief therapy models.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary: Commensurate with experience

Salary Range:

The target base annual salary range is $53,745 up to $76,321 and may be negotiable based on funding availability and candidate experience/skillset in relation to the minimum requirements of this position.
