Position:  Bookkeeper

Working Hours: US Hours (9am-5pm EST)

Full-Time, Remote Work.

Salary: South African Rand (ZAR)

We are seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to take ownership of the company's bookkeeping and payroll functions. This is a hands-on role responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing payroll, resolving payroll and billing enquiries, and ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the finance function.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently while maintaining the highest levels of accuracy, professionalism, and confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage all day-to-day bookkeeping functions.
• Maintain accurate financial records and ensure all financial transactions are recorded correctly.
• Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and financial records.
• Assist with month-end and year-end financial processes.
• Maintain organized financial documentation and filing systems.
• Ensure compliance with company financial policies and procedures.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and efficiencies.
• Process payroll accurately and on time.
• Ensure payroll is processed in accordance with company policies and relevant legislation.
• Prepare payroll reports as required.
• Manage bookkeeping and payroll using QuickBooks and/or Sage.
• Ensure accurate data entry and financial reporting.
• Maintain organized and audit-ready financial records.
• Support continuous improvements to financial systems and processes.
• Take ownership of the bookkeeping and payroll function.
• Support the onboarding and training of future finance team members should the team expand.
• Share knowledge and contribute to the continuous improvement of finance processes and procedures.

Requirements

• Experience in bookkeeping and payroll.
• Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks and/or Sage.
• Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles and payroll administration.
• Ability to independently manage the company's bookkeeping and payroll functions.
• Excellent organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
• High level of integrity with the ability to handle confidential financial and employee information.
• Calm, patient, and empathetic approach when assisting employees with payroll or billing enquiries.
