What is a Senior BI Consultant?

Teknosys is looking for a self-driven, senior-level professional to join Data Analytics as a Senior BI Consultant. You will independently lead the architecture, design, development, and implementation of enterprise BI solutions — enhanced with AI and machine learning to deliver deeper, smarter insights — serving as a senior technical authority within a dynamic consulting team.

Operating alongside cross-functional teams of data engineers and architects in a state-of-the-art analytics ecosystem, you will self-direct your engagements, drive solution design decisions, and mentor junior team members. This role is suited for a seasoned professional who can bring strategic thinking, deep technical mastery in BI, and the ability to apply Python, machine learning, and Agentic AI to elevate the intelligence and automation of the analytics experience for clients.

Requirements

What Senior BI Consultant does?

• Self-lead client engagements end-to-end — from requirements gathering and solution architecture through to delivery and handover — with minimal supervision

• Own and drive the solution design of enterprise BI architectures, defining best practices, design patterns, and standards across platforms (Tableau, Power BI, MicroStrategy)

• Enhance BI solutions with AI and machine learning — using Python to build time-series forecasting, anomaly detection, and clustering models that enrich dashboards with predictive and prescriptive insights

• Build natural-language-to-SQL and conversational analytics interfaces that let business users query certified datasets in plain English directly from BI tools

• Design and implement Agentic AI capabilities on top of BI platforms — AI agents for automated insight narration (NLG), anomaly alerting, and autonomous report generation — to modernize the end-user analytics experience

• Prototype AI copilots over the enterprise semantic layer using RAG (retrieval-augmented generation) and embeddings/vector search, enabling business users to ask questions and get trusted, governed answers

• Evaluate, adopt, and lead integration of emerging GenAI/AI+BI capabilities (e.g., Tableau Next, MicroStrategy Mosaic, Power BI Copilot) within client environments

• Lead and oversee platform upgrades, migrations, and performance optimization initiatives, ensuring 99.9% uptime and scalability

• Create visibility to the management through interactive, AI-enriched dashboards to monitor performance and raise red flags timely

• Improve analytical infrastructure and conduct deep dives, applying statistical and ML techniques to point out areas of improvement essential for business growth

• Architect robust dimensional and relational semantic layers, translating complex business requirements into scalable, reusable data models and actionable insights

• Define and govern housekeeping standards including content lifecycle management, extract/cache optimization, and user access frameworks

• Collaborate strategically with Data Engineers and Architects on ETL/ELT pipeline design, and write advanced, optimized SQL and Python for complex data extraction, transformation, and model-ready datasets

• Produce and own high-standard project documentation including solution architecture documents, functional specifications, UAT scripts, and client handover manuals

• Champion self-service analytics by designing enterprise-grade reusable datasets, certified metrics, AI-powered natural-language querying, and scalable reporting frameworks for business users

• Mentor and guide junior and mid-level analysts, conducting design reviews and ensuring delivery quality across the team

• Represent Teknosys as a trusted senior advisor at client sites, leading workshops, presentations, and strategic discussions on AI-enhanced BI.

What are we looking for and what does it require to be Senior BI Consultant?

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field

• Master's degree is preferred for this level

• 6+ years in Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, or related consulting roles, with a proven track record of independently leading BI engagements

• Deep hands-on expertise in at least two enterprise BI platforms (Tableau, Power BI, or MicroStrategy (MSTR)), with the ability to make platform architecture and design decisions

• Working knowledge of data science models and algorithms — regression, classification, clustering, time-series forecasting, and anomaly detection — and the ability to apply them in Python to build models that plug into and enrich BI dashboards

• Hands-on exposure to NLP/LLM techniques — natural-language-to-SQL, conversational analytics, and automated narrative generation (NLG) — to make BI outputs more accessible to business users

• Familiarity with Agentic AI concepts, RAG architectures, embeddings/vector search, and LLM APIs (OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Anthropic) to build AI agents and copilots over BI semantic layers

• Basic understanding of MLOps practices (model deployment, monitoring, retraining) for embedding predictive models into production BI dashboards

• Mastery of data modeling techniques including Star and Snowflake schemas, with experience designing enterprise-scale semantic layers

• Advanced SQL skills for complex querying, performance tuning, data validation, and transformation

• Strong working knowledge of ETL/ELT design patterns and Cloud data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake, Teradata, Oracle, BigQuery)

• Demonstrated ability to self-lead — manage timelines, client expectations, and delivery risks independently across multiple concurrent engagements

• Strategic agility to quickly assess and adapt to new industry domains (Finance, Retail, etc.) beyond the core Telecom sector and provide consultative guidance

• Strong leadership and communication skills — ability to present technical solutions to both technical and executive audiences confidently

• Professional certifications in two or more BI platforms (Tableau, Power BI, MicroStrategy) are strongly preferred; AI/ML certifications are a plus.
