About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Adobe Commerce Developer to design, build, enhance, and support scalable digital commerce solutions within our Digital Experience Platform practice. The role will primarily focus on Adobe Commerce and Magento delivery across enterprise B2B and B2C environments.
This is a hands-on engineering role suited to a senior developer who can work independently on complex enhancements, integrations, production issues, and platform improvements while collaborating effectively with architects, technical leads, delivery teams, and client stakeholders.
The successful candidate will contribute across the delivery lifecycle, including technical analysis, solution design, development, testing, deployment, BAU support, estimation, documentation, and continuous improvement.
What You’ll Do
- Design, develop, test, and maintain Adobe Commerce and Magento solutions for enterprise B2B and B2C platforms.
- Deliver new commerce features, platform enhancements, defect fixes, and BAU support within agreed service levels and delivery commitments.
- Build and extend custom modules, themes, APIs, plugins, observers, scheduled jobs, and third-party integrations using Adobe Commerce development standards.
- Develop and support integrations with ERP, CRM, product information management, order management, payment, shipping, tax, search, identity, and marketing platforms.
- Work with REST and GraphQL APIs and contribute to headless or composable storefront implementations using modern frontend frameworks where required.
- Investigate and resolve complex application, integration, performance, and production issues through structured troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.
- Apply secure coding, performance, scalability, accessibility, and maintainability practices across all development work.
- Participate in technical design, refinement, estimation, sprint planning, code reviews, testing, release planning, and deployment activities.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, deployment notes, support procedures, and knowledge-base content.
- Collaborate with commerce architects, developers, QA engineers, DevOps teams, project managers, and client stakeholders to deliver high-quality outcomes.
- Mentor developers, share technical knowledge, and help improve engineering standards and reusable delivery patterns.
- Use AI-assisted development tools responsibly to improve productivity, quality, testing, documentation, and troubleshooting while complying with client and organisational policies.
- Keep current with Adobe Commerce releases, security updates, platform capabilities, and modern commerce engineering practices.
What You'll Bring
- 5 or more years of software development experience, including at least 3 years of hands-on Adobe Commerce or Magento development.
- Strong knowledge of Adobe Commerce and Magento architecture, including modules, dependency injection, plugins, observers, events, indexing, caching, queues, cron, and configuration management.
- Strong PHP development skills and experience with object-oriented design, Composer, MySQL or MariaDB, and Linux-based environments.
- Proven experience developing custom modules and integrating Adobe Commerce with enterprise systems and third-party services.
- Experience with REST APIs, GraphQL, asynchronous processing, webhooks, and integration error-handling patterns.
- Good understanding of Adobe Commerce frontend development, including layouts, templates, JavaScript, Knockout.js, RequireJS, HTML, CSS, and responsive design.
- Experience with Git, branching strategies, pull requests, code reviews, automated testing, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Practical knowledge of Adobe Commerce performance optimisation, caching, security patches, upgrades, and production support.
- Experience diagnosing defects using application logs, monitoring tools, database analysis, and platform profiling techniques.
- Ability to translate functional requirements into technical solutions and provide reliable development estimates.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in distributed and client-facing delivery teams.
- A collaborative, accountable approach with a strong focus on quality, ownership, and continuous improvement.
Good to Have Skills
- Adobe Commerce Developer Professional or Expert certification.
- Experience with Adobe Commerce Cloud, including Cloud configuration, deployment pipelines, Fastly, New Relic, and environment management.
- Experience with Adobe Commerce upgrades, security patching, data migration, and version compatibility remediation.
- Experience with headless commerce, Adobe Commerce PWA Studio, React, Next.js, Vue, or composable storefronts.
- Familiarity with Adobe Experience Manager and integrations across the Adobe Experience Cloud ecosystem.
- Experience with enterprise search platforms such as OpenSearch, Elasticsearch, Algolia, or Coveo.
- Exposure to AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud and container technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes.
- Experience supporting retail, loyalty, subscription, marketplace, or omnichannel commerce solutions.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted and agentic software development practices.
