We are looking for an experienced Project Engineer to join our Roadway Design team at our Indianapolis office. The ideal candidate for this role will have experience working on local agency and/or DOT roadway design projects. We provide multi-disciplined services for a variety of public agencies and private entities, including transportation design; water resources design; environmental analysis & permitting; construction engineering & inspection; traffic engineering & transportation planning; surveying; and land acquisition & appraisal. Key responsibilities will include:
Supporting project managers in the planning and execution of roadway design projects.
Assisting in the preparation of project proposals, budgets, and timelines.
Conducting engineering analysis and design for assigned projects.
Designing projects or project components and preparing project documents.
Applying engineering techniques, methods, and design criteria to support project execution.
Coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure project goals are met.
Preparing and reviewing project documentation, reports, and specifications.
Collaborating with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
May be involved in the mentorship and development of junior level staff.
Qualifications for this role:
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering or a related field
Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or ability to obtain
5+ years of progressive experience in roadway and highway design, including work on INDOT or local agency projects
Ability to work effectively in a team environment and support project delivery across multiple tasks
Experience with industry-standard roadway design software is required
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated commitment to quality, accuracy, and continuous improvement
