We are seeking a Research Fellow to join the Melanoma and Skin Cancer research team at the Daffodil Centre, on 6-month fixed-term research-focused position. The Melanoma and Skin Cancer team, led by Professor Anne Cust, conducts collaborative, multidisciplinary research with a public health focus. The team has strong links with Melanoma Institute Australia.

This role will play a key part in supporting a melanoma clinical guidelines project, undertaking evidence synthesis activities that contribute to the compilation and development of clinical practice guidelines for melanoma management. The successful candidate will be an expert in systematic reviews and evidence synthesis, with significant experience producing high-quality evidence summaries and translating research evidence into clinical and policy-relevant outputs.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

• lead and conduct evidence syntheses, systematic reviews and meta-analyses to support melanoma and skin cancer research projects

• undertake evidence review activities that contribute to the development and compilation of melanoma clinical management guidelines

• critically appraise scientific literature and translate findings into high-quality evidence summaries and guideline recommendations

• conduct original research independently and collaboratively, developing publications and conference presentations

• contribute to research funding applications, grant proposals and impact activities

• build and maintain collaborative relationships with researchers, clinicians and stakeholder groups

• support the translation of research findings into policy and clinical practice improvements

• assist with supervision, mentoring and training of postgraduate students, research assistants and early-career researchers

• actively contribute to the strategic objectives and collaborative culture of the Daffodil Centre

About you

• completed a PhD in epidemiology or a related discipline

• extensive experience in evidence synthesis, systematic reviews and meta-analyses supporting melanoma research and skin cancer research

• recognised expertise in systematic review methodology and evidence synthesis approaches

• demonstrated track record of peer-reviewed publications arising from evidence synthesis and research activities

• experience supporting the development of clinical guidelines, policy recommendations or evidence-informed decision-making processes will be highly regarded

• strong understanding of epidemiological methods, research design and critical appraisal techniques

• proven ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, clinicians and external stakeholders

• experience supervising, mentoring and supporting the development of students, research assistants or early-career researchers

• excellent written and verbal communication skills, including scientific writing and presenting research findings to diverse audiences

• advanced organisational, analytical and project management skills with a high level of attention to detail
