Negotiates favorable terms, volume discounts and long-term contracts with suppliers and prepares and processes requisitions and purchase orders for the procurement of goods, services and supplies for customer-related business processes or for internal use as a generalist or in a combination of Purchasing Disciplines
A Production Buyer supports the operational workflow of the plant by coordinating inventory of materials in alignment with the production planned and weekly schedules. This role ensures that materials are aligned with production schedules as well as converting the monthly production plan into daily and weekly schedule based on incoming sales orders vs. monthly forecast. This role works collaboratively across the organization while prioritizing production and inbound components. Located at our Florence, Kentucky site, this role reports to the Planning Manager and works with other Production Planners and Buyers.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
A Production Buyer is responsible for but not limited to the following:
- Reviews MRP messages and generates purchase orders in accordance with requirements
- Coordinates deliveries on time to the plant based on schedule requirements using Transportation Portal or direct with the vendor
- Maintains Item master parameters Information such as lead time, Minimum order, & safety stock for the respective materials
- Provides effective dates for all material changes / bluebooks for existing materials and new products
- Manages inventory issues, schedule changes, and cancellations to reduced floor disruptions
- Monitors Inventory levels for Opportunities to revise purchase Plan/ Open POs to avoid excess inventory.
- Issues IDRs for respective write off for expired or discontinued materials
- Works closely with the Quality department to follow up with vendors on quality issues
- Work with Inventory Clerk on any vendor return processing for credits
- Manages subcontracting purchases with 3rd party vendor
- Works with QA on required samples for lab batching
- Reviews all AP Issues / vendor payment 3-way match
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Associate’s degree in Supply Chain or business-related field or equivalent work experience
- At least 3 years of related work experience in a manufacturing environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, MPR and SAP
- Highly Preferred – APIC certification

- Sits in front of a computer in an office setting for prolonged periods of time
- Moves around production floor as needed
- Lifts up to 25 pounds
- Strong quantitative ability and comfort with data driven decision processes
- Possesses excellent interpersonal, written & verbal communication skills
- Demonstrates excellent organizational, prioritization & planning skills with close attention to detail
- Accommodates shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment as well as excellent problem-solving skills focusing on continuous improvement
- Work on different times/ shifts based on business needs

The expected compensation range for this position is between $70,250.00 and $103,026.00 plus discretionary bonuses. The exact compensation may vary based on your skills, experience and other factors permitted by law.
