Meztal is looking for a Payroll Specialist to support accurate and timely payroll processing and related administrative activities. This position sits at the intersection of accounting and human resources, with primary responsibility for processing biweekly payroll, maintaining payroll information, implementing approved wage changes, and managing payroll-related documentation.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working with payroll and basic accounting processes while applying practical HR knowledge when needed. This is a hands-on processing and administrative role rather than a payroll leadership or HR business partner position.
Responsibilities
- Process biweekly payroll accurately and in accordance with established procedures.
- Manage payroll inputs, employee changes, and other information required for each payroll cycle.
- Process approved raises, wage adjustments, and other compensation changes.
- Verify wage changes against established wage scales and escalate discrepancies as appropriate.
- Enter, update, and maintain accurate employee and payroll information within the payroll system.
- Process and maintain payroll-related documentation, including garnishment notices and other required records.
- Review payroll information for completeness and accuracy before processing.
- Maintain organized and accurate payroll records and supporting documentation.
- Coordinate with Accounting and HR to resolve payroll-related questions, discrepancies, and employee information changes.
- Support routine payroll reconciliations and administrative accounting activities related to payroll.
- Handle sensitive payroll and employee information with appropriate confidentiality.
- Follow established payroll, accounting, and HR procedures and internal controls.
Requirements
Experience
- Professional experience supporting payroll processing, payroll administration, accounting, HR administration, or a closely related function.
- Hands-on experience managing payroll inputs, employee changes, wage adjustments, or similar payroll transactions.
- Proven experience working with U.S.-based teams or stakeholders.
Technical Skills
- Working knowledge of payroll processes and basic accounting principles.
- General understanding of HR practices as they relate to payroll and employee information.
- Ability to review wage changes and other payroll inputs against established guidelines or wage scales.
- Ability to maintain accurate payroll records and supporting documentation.
Language
- Advanced English proficiency, both written and verbal.
Soft Skills
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to manage recurring deadlines in a biweekly payroll environment.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills when working across Accounting and HR.
